Tel's Tales: 3 Sisters 1st Sept 2019

3 Sisters Sunday 12st Sept 2019 Following the last few really hot weeks the weather was taking a change as we approached the first day of Autumn (1/9/19). As a results the forecast was poor with the chance of rain throughout the day  but what do you expect in Lancashire? Water, water, everywhere

If it wasn't dark, I'd post a picture. The day started well, I took the car for a jaunt up to the fringes of the Big Smoke to visit my Mother. The return trip took me near the Dartford Tunnel of Love, or hate if you have to actually use it. Curborough 24thAug 2019   Whilst the drivers who liked hillclimbs travelled to Loton Park a few of us entered the sprint at Curborough to tackle the favoured Figure of 8. The is by far the best layout but it does take a lot of time to get through the cars and with a full entry there was a lot of hanging around between runs in the blazing heat of the sun….and boy was it HOT. Tel's Tales Three Sisters 4th Aug 2019

Tel’s Tales 3 Sisters 4th Aug 2019   This weekend saw 4 Westfields competing at Hethel and 4 at 3 Sisters where I was. John Hoyle was in class F whilst myself, Steve and Matt were in class G. In some ways this was a strange  event for Longton and District Motor Club as there were only 43 drivers taking part. Distractions of reality

Distractions of reality - the things that keep you away from the things you like doing. Anyway, time was found to fix a few small things like fitting an air filter (kind of essential!) which entailed cutting the bonnet, fitting an abs Car Builder Solutions bulge and then a 3D printed grille to stop seagulls falling in. By about 4-00 pm on Friday afternoon the decision to go for a 2 day event in July (because of better weather) seemed a little silly. Blyton weekend 13th/14thJuly 2019   As usual the trackday on Friday was well attended and most people were very happy with their track time and the open pit lane as well as the tuition package offered by Alan and Nick Mugglestone of Triple M Motorsport. Tel's Tales Harewood 2019

Harewood 6th& 7thJuly 2019   Once a year the speed series circus visits God’s own county to tackle the longest hillclimb in the country at Harewood. I have to report that the weather was fantastic on both days with both sun and warm weather despite a few threatening clouds so our decision to move the event to July rather than September seemed to pay off. May 4th, 2019 Spend: £78.00   My ECU had arrived back from Ian at Oddified and of course I could not wait to fit it.  Just in time for Stoneleigh!  My joy was however short lived as when I started the car, the engine would not settle in an idle, and kept trying to stall again. 😢     But as Ian had told me that he was going to be at Stoneleigh as well, armed with laptop and lead...  If I could get the car to him and find him, he could tweak it.

Blyton 18th& 19thMay 2019   Well after a slow start to the season with low numbers of drivers this event proved very popular with 9 Westfields and 4 Class J2 single eaters taking part. A Seven Tour (To Scotland!)

Well, after a few beers in the pub at the start of April, it was decided that we should start scratching our itch to take the Westfields further a field than a weekend blat around the lake district. Picture!

It's been a day of dodging showers but my son and I wrestled the crossflow's sump off. Annoyingly the dust sheild between the engine and bellhousing was one piece so a little cutting was required to get the lower portion off. It'll be fine of course. The oil pick-up pipe got snagged on one of the baffles but a little wrestling and it soon came off. Tomorrow I'll clean it, screw it down to a stable surface and cut the bottom off! Just remembered, I own a Westfield!

It's true! After several dormant years of ignoring the car as I walked past each day, a furious amount of activity and a fist full of cash waved in the right direction has seen my car turn a wheel for the first time in 20 years. March 2nd, 2019 Spend: £98.33   If you need to vent frustration, I can recommend replacing wheel studs...  hammering those in allows a lot of venting        But in they went, and so did the half shafts.  Had also ordered new Pagid brake drums from Euro Car Parts (9" drums for a 1978 RS2000) and they fitted nicely.And finally the new wheels      They still stick out a little beyond the arch, but I will decide on any action after I've driven

February 21st, 2019 Spend: £0.00   The sun is out and the urge to go out in the Westfield again is growing.  Time to start cracking! Agreed to borrow @Marto303's sliding hammer so that I could remove the half shafts.  What a difference the right tool makes to a job .  They were out in 5 minutes, although I could not remove the OS without also removing the brake drum back plate.  And that means replacing the brake fluid as I've had to disconnect the lines.  Oh well, just anoth

Its been a long year.....

That was an expensive month with a new forged short motor, and replacing all the front uprights, hubs, wishbones and bushes..  Engine back in an running.. I don't want to think about the total cost but it will be worth it....   Spent so far this month... Far too much again in March and its not over yet …….. Anglesey weekend

So the time had come for my first trip to Anglesey, It was going to be either brilliant weather or freezing so earlier in the year asked a few fellow competitors if they would like to share a cottage.
