September 5th, 2020 Spend: £23.78     Bought a new Racetech rear view mirror as the one I had bought previously was a convex glass (wrongly advertised as flat glass) and it looked like every car behind me was up my *rse.   September 12th, 2020 Spend: £0.00   Had the tiniest of coolant leaks on the thermostat bypass side.  Emptied it of coolant and investigated, but can't see where it is coming from, other than assuming it comes from the weld on

September 21st, 2019 Spend: £0.00   I'd never been to the Peak District, so when I asked on the forums if my planned route for today was ambitious or not, @IanK (Bagpuss) kindly volunteered to show me around.  What a day it was...     We started out as four with @LukeW and @Nemesis joining @IanK (Bagpuss) and my son in his Mini Cooper S in Ashbourne.   Afer some driving we met up with @Paul Hurdsfield, @bioman and Kibriyah (NWKCOG) at The Devils A***

September 6th, 2015 Spend: £25.00   Julie kindly organised a (very) small group buy on a stainless steel laser cut Westfield badge and today I fitted mine.     September 13th, 2015 Spend: £0.00   Another weekend spend to investigate why the DRLs switch off with the engine running. Have taken the brave pill and partly rewired everything so that I can access the fuses easier when the scuttle is on. Also rewired the indicator/hazard circuit, but th

September 2nd, 2014 Spend: £85   A job originally planned to happen before Stoneleigh, but due to a sign shop messing me about I only got around at doing today. The kind folks at Sign Wizzard in Aylesbury added at least 10 BHP .     September 6th, 2014 Spend: £17   And now the racing stripe is on, I can also finally fit the smaller number plate I bought ages ago.     September 16th, 2014 Spend: £43   With the

October 19th, 2019 Spend: £0.00   Earlier this week I had a small electrical faux-pas as my carbon cycle wing had slowly worn away at my wiring and caused a short!       At the same time my engine would turn over but not start, so after a lot of failed attempts at diagnosing the issue, it actually turned out to be the damn idle adjuster screw again.  Have now marked it's position, so I can spot it earlier.  Repaired the wiring and all is good again...  other th

October 13th, 2017 Spend: £30   Nothing specific to report other than that the crank out of my spare Zetec has been tested for cracks, etc and has been given the  up.  Have been piling up parts and the last of deliveries was today, so the rebuild can finally commence!        Last month: £  6349.80 This month: £    30.00             ----------+ Total:      £  6379.80

October 1st, 2016 Spend: £1500.00   What's the best way to speed up the Mighty Crossflow?     You replace it with a Zetec   I bought this last month from another WSCC member after he took me out in his car with this engine in it. Complete with ECU, manifold and as much ancillaries as he could spare. 180BHP on the Northampton Motorsport rollers.   October 2nd, 2016 Spend: £0.00   Cleaned up the garage and moved stuff about so

October 29th, 2015 Spend: £0   Seeing as the weather looks to be wet and miserable I'm putting my sensible head on and put the car on SORN. Gives me plenty of time to fit those winter upgrades I've been collecting   October 31st, 2015 Spend: £0   And so the story ends for the year... To serve as a little reminder to myself, a little video I recorded earlier this month         Last month: £  2122.67 This month: £     0.

October 2014

October 12th, 2014 Spend: £40   I picked up a new silencer from BCF back in September which he had on his Crossflow to replace my battered example, but luck is not on my side as the link pipe on the new exhaust is different to mine and it won't clear the bodywork.     Ok, I'll remove the exhaust manifold then so I can clean it up and wrap it with some heatwrap... Wrong! The bolts where pretty rusty and sure enough, one of the bolts rounded off so I had to reso

November 2019

November 16th, 2019 Spend: £10.00   Winter upgrade time!  After cleaning the car last weekend, today I finally made a start with replacing the damaged nose cone.  Part of the hesitation to do it 'in season' was that I wanted to go from 2 bolts holding the nose cone down, to 2 dzus sliding fasteners.  I had @Ben (bunje) create two M8 to M4 reducers which would allow me to re-use my rivnutted M8 mounts on the chassis.  But once they've been screwed in, there would be no unscrewing.

November 2nd, 2018 Spend: £0.00   Oooh, it's fresh today...     November 29th, 2018 Spend: £0.00   Realistically, I'm not seeing the weather being nice enough to drive the car to work and back without getting p*ssed on, so I SORNed it today.  I need to get the half-shafts machined so my new wheels fit, and I need to take the petrol tank out to re-fit the pump so it reads on the gauge again.  Plenty to do this winter!       La

November 5th, 2016 Spend: £0.00   Got the roll bar off using some heat to soften the glue and a putty knife to wedge in between bar plate and body work. Then started to work on the new carbon boot sides.     Once I got the holes right, the rest was just fine tuning. Now just the filler itself to do, but I will wait until I've been to the welder to see what is possible     November 6th, 2016 Spend: £28.98   Fixed the brake li

It makes access so much easier.     November 16th, 2014 Spend: £5.55   Finally had the courage to tap the 5/16th UNC thread in the exhaust manifold and I shouldn't have been so worried. May 17th, 2020 Spend: £0.00   Spending a day on the garage, instead of in.  Got these Mototile tiles on Ebay at a very good price and after cleaning them as good as I could, started to clear out the garage so I could fit them.       May 25th, 2020 Spend: £0.00         Found a piece of old 3M carbon film in the garage which must have been at least 7 years old.  It was just enough to create some rear arch protectors

May 4th, 2019 Spend: £78.00   My ECU had arrived back from Ian at Oddified and of course I could not wait to fit it.  Just in time for Stoneleigh!  My joy was however short lived as when I started the car, the engine would not settle in an idle, and kept trying to stall again. 😢     But as Ian had told me that he was going to be at Stoneleigh as well, armed with laptop and lead...  If I could get the car to him and find him, he could tweak it.

May 7th, 2017 Spend: £16.95   After speaking to Graham about my 2nd gear selection issue one of the things I learned was that the Fuchs Titan Race Gear 90 LS differential oil I had put in my live axle with plated diff is the wrong one and that I should have used Castol B373.  Got 2L from Opie and replaced it today.   May 12th, 2017 Spend: £112.11   My new TPS (a Penny&Giles one) arrived from Spoox Motorsport yesterday and as I was "working from home" t

May 1st, 2016 Sold: £20.00   The annual pilgrimage to the spiritual home of the kit car... Stoneleigh! Organised a small convoy with the Northants members   Photo courtesy of Mark Russel of Carbon-NV fame   and when we arrived there, I was told to park it at the front of the Westfield Avenue     Managed to sell my old mirrors, but gave the cycle wings and harness to the club to sell, hopefully raising some money for the WSCC support

May 3rd, 2015 Sold: £75.50   The annual kit car show at Stoneleigh! Packed the car with stuff that I no longer have a use for and after some creative use of straps it is surprising the amount of stuff you can take with you     But, the great English weather being what it is, changed for the worst and although we've had lovely weather in the weeks leading to it, the day starts off with heavy rain     It dried up on the way in and by the t

May 3rd, 2014 Spend: £7   Now the brakes are back together again, I could finally concentrate on the diff. The breather was smaller than the thread on the diff, so I bought some Sikaflex EBT+ from Screwfix and just glued it in place.     Then went for spin to warm the diff oil up and used my Pela 6000 to suck the old stuff out (by god it smells!). Got about 800ml out and put about 1.1L back in. Looks like it was well overdue!     May 9th,

March 2nd, 2019 Spend: £98.33   If you need to vent frustration, I can recommend replacing wheel studs...  hammering those in allows a lot of venting        But in they went, and so did the half shafts.  Had also ordered new Pagid brake drums from Euro Car Parts (9" drums for a 1978 RS2000) and they fitted nicely. And finally the new wheels      They still stick out a little beyond the arch, but I will decide on any action after I've driven
