Mooch Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 A couple of good mods there, Gary, anything that improves visibility on the road has got to be a good thing. You only need it to be effective once for it all to be worthwhile! I don't recall having an issue with CV boot clearance. Wonder why yours were so close to the chassis rail? Hope the engine is now working as advertised - is everything fixed? Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 I don't recall having an issue with CV boot clearance. Wonder why yours were so close to the chassis rail? It's only an issue on those with the larger diff from the 1.8. It's 1-1/2" wider than the original 1.6 diffs and also has a larger pcd on the drive shaft mounting flanges, all this pushes the shafts that bit closer to the top chassis rails. Quote
Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 glad to see you are having fun still - you did well to sort the engine issue out Quote

KugaWestie Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 glad to see you are having fun still - you did well to sort the engine issue out Thanks - its good to learn the hard way, I think I know the car pretty well now Quote
KugaWestie Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 I managed to get a 45 minute blat in today between the downpours, and stayed dry too I did a quick torch inspection upon return and the CV boots look fine, which is good news. Also got a wave from an orange elise whilst out - either that or he was shielding his eyes from the DRL's Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Look neat those DRL's, not totally happy with the way I've done mine, the LED strips just aren't bright enough in daylight. Quote
KugaWestie Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks Dave, I will take a picture on the drive in daylight so you can see them from a distance so you can see how bright they are Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Thanks, appreciated. I don't suppose you still have a link to the EBay site? (Assuming they were from a commercial seller) Quote
KugaWestie Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 I will take a couple of pictures tomorrow and drop them on here Link below, I think they list them under various guises, so they have plenty for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180896254429?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_11971wt_1270 Quote
KugaWestie Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Here is a picture of the DRL's taken in bright sunlight - pretty tame really Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Ah, that's sort of the problem I have at the moment, least yours don't interfer with dipped beam when you use them at night Quote
KugaWestie Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Yeah, they look pretty dissapointing in bright daylight to be honest Quote
s2rrr Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 I stuck some high intensity led side lamps in and they aren't too shabby Bob Quote
KugaWestie Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 Having taken some photos of the Circular DRL's in daylight as posted above, I decided that they just were not bright enough in daylight! So today, I picked up some different ones and fitted them, they seem much better. From 10 feet in front From 20 feet in front From 40 feet in front Some close ups Quote
