Sorry to hear that Steve,

Forecast is a bit "hit and miss" but not the worst I have seen, better further north by the looks of it.

I know how you feel though.. getting fed up driving my "swimming pool" on wheels.. just hope that its not as bad as the forecast.. or the Westy might be up for sale next week :-)

Wooses, faders, chickens, girlies blouses etc!!!!! There, is that better? :d Sorry you guys aren't going. After all, it's just a bit (or maybe a lot) of rain.

As Bob says, looks like we'll have to support Italy now..... :t-up:

Bob - Dean's Westie is knackered unless he can get the crankshaft pulley off to replace the water pump - any suggestions for removing an extremely stuck pulley?

After about 3 hours struggling with the damn crankshaft sprocket bolt and trying everything including loads of new swear words, I'd decided to just put it back together and test how much water it was losing while running and maybe take a chance it would last for the Applecross weekend. However the pump is obviously totally fu**ed and p1ssed out more water than an incontinent pensioner!

So it was stripped down again and I gave the crank sprocket bolt everything I had and the bast**d eventually relented to a hefty battering with a big lump hammer. Timing belt and pulley are now off and I'm left with the picture below. I'll get stuck into the water pump change 1st thing tomorrow during my day off. Fingers crossed all goes well, if not I'll be heading to Applecross in my Cooper S.

Hopefully you guys have a more relaxed Applecross eve than I'm going to have with my damn Mazda

Having similar problems.

Throttle cable snapped on the way home from work this evening.

Hope Halfords have correct cable available tomorrow or I'm snookered as well.

Five years since kit was built and it decides to break on the eve of a great weekend away .... Typical.

Will update with status tomorrow.

Otherwise proper bycycle shops, the sort that do repairs and stocks spares etc. are very handy places for getting accelerator cables; or brake cables as they seem to insist on calling them ;)

What time is the van going to be at South Queensferry tonight - 7.30?

I'll have 'essential supplies' for Deano and I to drop off!

Cheers, Matt
