Brewster Posted September 1, 2020 Author Posted September 1, 2020 I had a fantastic trackday at Blyton yesterday. The car no longer feels slow and I really enjoyed working the car hard around this little track. The brake pedal has gone a little soft so I'll be bleeding the brake circuits with DOT5 in the near future. Given the gentle life the car led before my ownership I guess it's likely to be the original fluid from when it was built 6 years ago. The tyres are also original, being dated 2014, although yesterday has seen those come to the end of their useful life. I'll be ordering a set of R888Rs to replace them. The biggest gripe I had was with the diff. I had a good poke under the car on Saturday on my mates 4 post lift. It's leaking from the nearside driveshaft output. I cracked open the filler to find someone had hugely overfilled it at some point in the past, likely the cause of the leak in the first place. The oil was a little black too leading me to think it has a plated diff rather than the Quaife I was told it had. Any doubt over the type of diff was removed on track when, if I didn't heel and toe on a big downshift, it would lock up the the least loaded wheel at the rear. So definitely a plated diff and the ramp rates aren't right. Anyway, I'll be taking the diff out over winter for a rebuild, hopefully avoiding rear bodywork removal . Are there any diff specialists around the Yorks/Lincs/Notts area that people recommend? I guess it'll be a case of sending it to them and seeing what they recommend. I'm a fan of Quaife and the fact they act like an open diff on deceleration. I'm sure better drivers than I can make use of a bit of drag when lifting off to rotate the car, but getting the ramps right and keeping them right as the plates wear is a thankless task. 1 Quote

I've used that in the 911 before and it's certainly better than generic DOT4 at holding off the boiling point. It's easy to see when they're fully bled too. Quote
