What do you do on a wet Bank Holiday Monday? Well I installed engine & g/box Looks a treat. Near side engine mount did not line up, but was expecting that as this has been highlighted in blogs previously. Also fitted the steering column - modified centre section looks about 20mm short (again as previously pointed out), but will wait until I have the scuttle in place to see what impact it has. Need to get prop modified - any recommendations? TC

You can't have too much orange!

Hi All. It is a matter of taste, but as I decided not to go for a full rebuild of the engine I thought I might as well dress it up a bit. So having 2 weeks holiday planned I took some bits down to the local powder coater and specified ORANGE. Results as in the above picture - not too bad, but as I say a matter of taste. Well that was exhausting

Finally finished fitting the 4-1 manifold after 3 evenings. It gave me a chance to investigate the rattling from the exhaust silencer and it does indeed seem like the cat is breaking up. Seems like a good excuse for a carbon silencer soon! Save the current silencer for MOT time I think. Anyway, onto fitting the new manifold. With the exhaust system stripped off and weighed because I'm a bit anal (new manifold saves 620g you know), it was time to attack the bodywork once again. I really hate

The Start

I built my Westfiield last year and have a nice home for it in my garage. Due to work I am due to move in October and where I am moving to there is no garages - I also tend to move every 2 years and can't guarantee if I will have anywhere to store it. My solution is to build an enclosed trailer. Coolant leak found?

After previous unsuccessful attempts to fix my coolant leak I'd only managed to make it slightly worse. Luckily, whilst pondering my options after the latest failed fix I stumbled across a photo I took which appeared to show that the core plug in the head was leaking. I decided it must be that as it did fit where the leak was and to be fair I was running out of other causes. With Stoneleigh looming ever closer I removed the inlet manifold (completely this time) and got looking. Hmm... definit

Wiscombe 2013 Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April 2013 The Woolbridge club had done a superb job in preparing the paddock and track for the event. The conditions were almost perfect, a bone dry and clean track combined with sunny but cool weather. Part 5 - Bits everywhere!

No updates of late, but having now picked up my completion kit there'll be no holding me back - LOL. Boxes of unidentified bits all over the place. Still no manifold but am assured that its not far away.......... I now have a pile of wire in a box stripped back from the loom - hopefully I have only removed the bits I definitely don't need - but there is still an awful lot of wire in the MX5 loom. Swapping Xflow to Zetec in Narrow Lowline Westfield

Well round 2 has now taken place and the "wet" rule came into place even though it was not wet but a cold track with not a lot of grip so well done to the 3 drivers who got themselves out there. Swapping Xflow to Zetec in Narrow Lowline Westfield

So at last I've had some time on the car, thanks to work and snow I've not done a great deal. The engine is now in. Nothing much to report except the tiger mounts are a bit short so you need spacers at the bottom to bring it up. While the sun was shining

Not a bad day weather wise yesterday so I took the opportunity to get the covers off and have a good rummage round the wiring and start to refit things. All went well and I have now completed my mock dash. The whole I've cut for the Koso, whilst not perfect and by no means measured with any accuracy is just shy of the real size and shape so at a push and a slight angle, it will pass straight through. Part 4 - Not quite standing still....

Well hello. Been a while since my last update, not been too idle and have progressed a little. Notably the rear diff is now in situ in its reaplendant orange livery and front & rear uprights and hubs assembled. I managed to find a friendly mechanic to tease(!) out the rear bearings and replace with new - rear uprights now in place. On assembly I did find the treaded bar which passes through the lower wishbone bushes to be a very tight fit - need to review this as this will need to come out
