Mooch Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I found there were 3 delicate stages of effort needed for the removal of 20 years worth of corroded suspension components. Mooch's patent guide to removal torque loadings: Stage 1 - 2 grunts and a groan Stage 2 - 3 white knuckles Stage 3 - Shear the head off Quote
darve Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 thanks for the comment guys about parts, should come on handy. smokey, did that fabricator shorten your sump? if so, you don't happen to have the dimensions he worked to do you ? I want to start pulling the donor apart must be patient Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I'll warn you in advance, good luck getting the pivots bolts out of the rear wishbones where they attach to the uprights. IMO you're best to try and get them loosened while still attached to the rest of the car, mine were completely rusted in and had to be removed with a combination of drilling and a slitting disc in the dremmel Quote
darve Posted March 14, 2012 Author Posted March 14, 2012 Thats the one then yes don't you use one of those to put the westie together as well Quote

Mark (smokey mow) Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I can't do anything on my car without having a hammer close to hand. Notice the club hammer on the scuttle and how much use it gets :d Quote
Captain Colonial Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Make sure the starter kit gets delivered with the manual and this tool as well: Quote
