KugaWestie Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 What no video of it :d Looks like you could have done with pruning the conifer first before you started Lol Mark!! Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Judging by the amount of oil on the top of the bellhousing It looks like it's been leeking quite badly from the rear which makes be think that the oil above the starter motor and under the exhaust manifold has all come from the CAS oil seal. I know from experience that the air movement in an engine bay can do funny things and spread the oil over everything and to the places you'd least expect. Quote
darve Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 I think you're right mark, here's some picks from a further distance looks like its come out of the cam sensor housing and run down onto the top of the block towards the front of the engine, and also down onto the bellhousing and down either side of the block. What's your advice? Replace as per your link, install in the westfield and see what happens? Quote
Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 That's what I'd do, It's only a single bolt to remove it to change to o-ring. A smear of oil on the new seal will help it slide back in again. The hardest bit is aligning it to go back into the slot in the cam. Also have a look at the other seals mentioned a few weeks ago and the clutch spigot bearing, as doing them now will save a lot of work later. I'd suggest then giving everything a good degrease and clean as it helps to spot any leaks later on (over cleaner works really well), drop it into the westfield and see what happens. Quote

Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Daves hoping this will be sorted well before then, with a little help from his new found friends, "Essex Boys" I've stripped 3 of those looms now It doesn't get any easier and certainly no quicker but there's a lot of weight to be saved and it makes fault finding much easier once all the surpurfluous circuits are gone.
