KugaWestie
Yes, but mine does not look like yours - maybe there is a slight difference between the 1.6 and 1.8 engines?
Mooch
Here's how it looked on the donor car before I ripped it to bits, Gary. Might help to identify what went where? http://s1237.photobucket.com/albums....187.jpg

Mark (smokey mow)
Chuck it it the bin now Gary, it does nothing to assist the metered emissions. It's just there to collect the fuel vapour from the tank when the engine is off and burn it at start up rather than venting it to atmosphere. I took mine off pretty soon after SVA as the fuel dripping from the base was destroying the powdercoat on the chassis.

On this advice, I have removed it Is it still worth connecting the fuel tank vent to the third pipe and then just looping over a bit of fuel pipe in the engine bay? KugaWestie
Time for an update. Yesterday I installed the fuel tank and fuel pump. Then I realised that I had not got a fuel filter, so have ordered a Sytec mini bullet Today, I decided to bleed the clutch and brakes, which was a little bit painful on my own, but I have got there. I think I will re-do the brakes with an assistant sometime to make sure, but I think they are fine. Then I adjusted the handbrake to get it operational. Finally, I wired in the fuel pump and fuel tank sender
Mark (smokey mow)
You can remove the third fuel line completely and put a loop of 6mm fuel hose on the tank vent.
KugaWestie
I need to earth the fuel tank for IVA (I think) - any ideas how I can achieve this?

At present I have put a loop on the third hose in the engine bay
CRAIGR
I need to earth the fuel tank for IVA (I think) - any ideas how I can achieve this? Evening Gary For my tank earth i put a jubilee clip around the filler neck with a braided earth under it and the other end to the roll bar lower bracket i believe. Great minds think alike, I was also thinking a jubilee clip and the filler neck was the way to do it
Mooch
Earth Strap Gary, My tank had a pre-threaded hole on a boss fitted to the nearside - does yours not have this? I asked WSC nicely and they sent an earthing strap FOC which fitted nicely. Photo shows how I bolted it to an unused bracket on the chassis. hilux
Hi Good thread, I`ve been following it with interest. Reminds me of when I rebuilt my Westy. I hope you dont think its a critique but may I suggest that jubilee clips should not be used for fuel pipes, they dont compress evenly and fully throughout the whole circumference. Less important if water leaks but important when it comes to petrol. Probably ok for the no pressure gravity feed to the pump as per the photo but after the pump use proper fuel pipe clips as I assume its injected
KugaWestie
I dont mind at all hilux, all advice greatfully received. By my reckoning there are two types of fuel clip - a threaded/bolt type, or the type that you squeeze with pliers to open (good for tight spaces) Either of these ok?
