Captain Colonial
10 Pages long and you're not even at the test drive yet Is this a record? Not even close - Windy owns that record and it gets longer every day. I may die before he finishes that stunning Escort.

darve
we are now on page 11 and I'm afraid to say........... .............that I have to wait 8-10 Weeks to pick up my kit Simon was really welcoming and we had a good 3 hour chat including the test drive. yes it stayed dry! I'm to confirm my colour choice and finalise the pick up date. so, do you wasn't to know what I've gone for spec wise? or wait until the pickup date? oh, I saw the s2000 while I was there. that's definitely not going to be at stoneleigh. I'm the forth Mazda kit this month. they're getting popular

s2rrr
Make sure when you get a collection date and before you commit/pay for hiring a van that Westfield confirm that everything is ready. You won't be the first to arrive at the factory to collect 80% of the kit. We collected 2 full rolling chassis kits ( luton van no probs ) with both body sets and ended up with a discussion about whether the body kits were 100% acceptable to us, it was a new run and they were concerned about quality. In fairness Westfield did offer a discount and it was sorted on the day very amicably. You will have the standard small parts missing and make sure the parts section phone number is committed to memory, Gavin and Russ are very helpful guys and can make the difference between a nightmare and a pleasureable experience (ooh err missus). I have to say though that in our/your collective eagerness to get started a few bits don't make too much difference, its when you are in full flow and suddenly find your panel, clutch stop bolt etc etc you need now, is not there that it gets frustrating. P clips for fuel lines seems a common miss. If you have read a few build threads and as we are on page 11 of your build thread ( must be a record) you should be pretty much up to date with all the intricasies of the build. By the way the build manual should be titled build guide as there are numerous ammendments which should have gone in but to my knowledge haven't. I followed the manual fairly closely but my mate decided not to fit some of the aluminium panels and actually left the chassis open which gave him better access to the electrics, tunnel, innards etc. Hope you have plenty of space to store stuff as in a full kit you get at least two car size lumps - chassis and body. Soon fills a garage up. Anway just enjoy the experience, read this site its invaluable, do the searches ask the daft/not so daft questions. You'll soon be on the road or as in most case today waiting for the bl**dy rain to stop. The wait will soon be over Bob :d

Go on then tell all, at least it will add to all the pages before the build gets underway
Captain Colonial
Can't wait for the build to begin, echo all the great comments and advice so far. Just to add, you're going to be excited come collection day, in a hurry to get it all home, but slow down and take your time and go methodically through the pick list to find anything missing. That £30 you spent on membership is about to pay you back many times over in help and advice!
s2rrr
Should hit 20 pages at least before a spanner gets turned or a rivet hole gets drilled. I trust you have got your tools ready. Bob

darve
haha only thing I need to get ( scrounge) is a compressor and air riveter. Essex boys? it's so exciting I'll post up a list of what I've ordered when I'm on the computer later rather than phone good advice chaps
KugaWestie
If you cant get hold of an air riveter, get yourself a lazy tong, much nicer to use if you have to do it by hand
Mark (smokey mow)
Yes, lazy tongs are very good as you use your arms rather than grip strength. I did the floors on my narrow with some i bought from tool station which are very good.
SootySport
While you are waiting for your Kit, you might as well start refurbishing the MX5 mechanicals.
