Just thinking about your comment on oil pressure, you probably never lost any oil pressure as you wouldnt when the piston comes off the rod, pressure would be in the crank and the main oil gallery, whic if isnt where the casing broke then again no reason to lose it. until it stopped dead that is :(

after watching the vid last night thats the conclusion I came up with as Im sure I declutched and braked when I saw the smoke, the gallon of oil it spewed  on the rear tyres caused the spin I reckon  :0  :0

Jeff, thanks for reminding me I don't have the time to rebuild my own engine.

"Dear Lord, if I get reincarnated, can I come back as either a heir to a fortune without any responsibility or a very well paid automotive engineer. Failing that, can I be a pre-loved auto retail agent specialising in terrific engines? I'll never ask for anything else ever again until the next time, I promise." :D:D:D

Pretty much clips from the only decent session we got on film.

All the cap, I was going at a predestrian pace I reckon! :D

Notice blatant ripping of guitar hero 1 music. :D

Good footage of that really handsome chap taking photos at the esses just after Island bend!! The guy in the red GT3 obviously had a phobia about apexes!! The chap in the Blue XR2 was entertaining all day the chuffing thing was on its door handles any time I so it going round a corner!

I really hope the crank & head are fine jeff, good to see you did a proper job of the cylinder and piston!, if the crank and head are fine and once you'e completely broke down and stripped and had all the bits cleaned throughly then I guess its just a case of new bits and rebuild!!

nee sign of the pin  ???  :suspect:  :suspect:

would love to know what happened  ???  :suspect:

The head looksfine from those shots mate, 4 new valves and it should be as good as new. Providing there was no loss of oil pressure, the crank should be godd as well, unless it has been bent.

I'd be very interested to know what happened to the gudgen pin though, with a missing pin and the picutres, looks like it could have been caused by a piston/pin failure.
