JeffC Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 what the devil What happened Coop is it going to be ok for the Northern Saloons engine is out biglad and sat on the deck, 3 big holes in the side, smashed 3 casings, It looks to me like the piston has come off the rod , its still in the bore or whats left of it, road is twisted and bent, looks like valves bent and Ive been told that doesnt bode well for the head, crank may be ok, after a few phone calls rebuilding it isnt an option , bought a new standard 1300 motor and getting it next week , will strip the 1548 down and see whats salvageable, would like to think the head can be sorted and the crank is ok, if so and if poss will build them into the new motor to make it just under 1500cc. either way my first race will be done at a much slower pace Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Oh b****r looked like you had been having a ball up till then. Hope you get it sorted soon Jeff and without too much cost. Quote
evo-mark Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 first Pete now you JC everything comes in threes , captain lock up the pinto Quote
JeffC Posted April 30, 2008 Author Posted April 30, 2008 Cheers Matt had a good day, track was far too busy with traffic but was enjoying it all the same I commented that it was going better than ever, I recall my pal made the same comment 20mins before his timing chain snapped on his busa ever so pleased it didnt let go on one of the 6th gear corners though Quote
Ross Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Sorry to hear about this Jeff . Hope you get it sorted for the northern saloons. Regards Ross Quote

Crazy Eddie Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 s**t! Seen that photo before As far as cause is concerned what is your main thought? Oil Starvation or fatigue? All the best with sorting it Quote
Terry Everall Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Gutted for you Jeff That engine was fantastic. Wonder what went bang first? Any oil surge or issues? If crank and head are ok they are most costly bits for 1548 I think Quote
