Just had my 1st jab (AstraZeneca), the entire process ran like clockwork. Now let's see what tomorrow brings.......

Forgot to add, had my second last week.

This time, I followed advice from a client with an extensive medical/pharmacological background, take Paracetamol x2 approx. 2 hours before appointment then every 4 hours for hopefully only 4 doses in total, (if you need more then leave a 6 hour gap). - the client knows I don't take any other clashing medication, always read the warnings, don't exceed doses etc...

And I'll never know if it was that, or just this dose being easier, but aside from a slightly muzzy/light headed feeling for a few hours afterwards, I had no other symptoms or reactions at all this time. It was brilliant!

Incidentally, the nurse giving me the injection, after hearing I'd reacted to the first jab, also advised me to take paracetamol for the rest of the day, when I got home.

only symptoms I had after my 1st AZ jab last week was a bit of a sore arm and being a bit slow in general. Made for some interesting interviews. Sounds like I got off lightly which I was slightly relieved about tbh.

Morning all, seems I got away with it?!

I went to bed last night at 11ish woke at 1ish shivering and thought here we go, finally got to sleep and now sat in front off my PC logged on and working with absolutely no ill effects, not even a sore arm??

However as I have had covid I did donate my plasma back in January and I was ill then, within 4 hrs of finishing the donation process I felt groggy and just needed to sleep and the arm was painful.

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club SecretaryI did take some Paracetamols a couple of hrs after the jab and then again when I woke in the night, I will never know if this did some good though?

Has age got anything to do with the recovery times? I'm 45.

I think the arm pain that people are getting is down to the nurse or peoples nerves. My first jab I had a pain for a day but my second one no pain at all. Only difference was the second nurse was very chatty.

i took paracetamol all day for my first jab, day 2 I was laid out! took me 3 weeks in total to get over it, really not looking forward to jab 2 the sequel

I think I was a little too smug, felt okay the following morning but 24hrs later in the afternoon (yesterday) it caught up with me, nothing serious but just neck/back ache with a little shivering but woke up this morning with aching arm, but in the grand scheme of things I have got off lightly compared to others

Word is that side effects from the second AZ jab are not as bad as the first. Pfizer and Moderna not so much...

Will the side effects be worse for the second dose?

Not all vaccines are the same. For the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, side effects tend to be milder with the second dose. For the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, side effects tend to be stronger with the second dose. The type of side effects are the same and should still only last a day or two. They include:

Pain or discomfort in the arm where you had your injection

Feeling tired

Feeling feverish

Headaches

I honestly don’t understand why anyone in their right mind would refuse the vaccine?

Unless you’re medically unable or concerned about the nano-bots they are injecting* then it’s a no brainier really?

*wearing a tin foil hat will help with that though.

I don't want to start a debate on this but look at it from a younger person's view. Take a vaccine that may give you side effects (some potentially dangerous) vs a virus that you might not even notice you'd had.  I've had 4 friends of a similar age who've had covid. 3 were asymptomatic 1 had a cough for a few days. 2 others have had their 1st dose vaccine. 1 ended up in bed ill for a few days the other was fine.

Agree though if your over a certain age the rewards far outweigh the risks.

**just to add I'm by no means an anti vaxxer and will go and get mine when called, just sayin there's 2 sides to a coin**
