Ian Podmore Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Quote Well as long as your happy you've got everything Well, I was....... You should still be as well! Give me a N/A engine over forced induction any day for feel and response. Quote
Nick M Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 So about £20 per 1 bhp increase........ Are there CEC gains that can match this? Well, I once saw a certain carbon bodied Westfield gain 30bhp just by adjusting the throttle cable so the carbs were opening properly and getting full throttle, and the rolling road session did only cost about 20 quid, but I don't suppose that's what you mean... mb893 Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Mr. Ric Bananas And anyway, your car's the wrong colour for that John Quote
scruffythefirst Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 So about £20 per 1 bhp increase........ Are there CEC gains that can match this? Yup, chip and set of injectors should give you another 150bhp for no more than 400 quid Give me a N/A engine over forced induction any day for - going slowly? I love cossies Scruffy Quote
scruffythefirst Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Better than yellow anyway Scruffy Quote
felters Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 For what its worth, you can drop a turbo onto a busa to give you just under 300 ponies for under £2.5k. That is also without having to do the head gasket thing. So about £20 per 1 bhp increase........ Are there CEC gains that can match this? No idea. Probably not: but £2,500 buys a shed load of training. Make you way faster on the track than slapping a turbo on the side of any engine Quote
windy Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 evenin! You're all missing the point here talking about power. Torque is more important. Bike engines - suffer from not much of it Zetec & Duratec - getting better VX - good power & even better torque. Quote
Westfieldman Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 Windy You have missed out the X-flow, the tuned pinto and the V8 the K is not worth worring about. Quote
Nick M Posted January 28, 2004 Posted January 28, 2004 ...the K is not worth worrying about. Unless you own one, in which case I suspect it's a source of *constant* worry and concern !! Quote
Ian Podmore Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 You're all missing the point here talking about power. Torque is more important. Bike engines - suffer from not much of it Zetec & Duratec - getting better VX - good power & even better torque. Those in the know look at the torque plots from a RR session, the others look at the power plot, and will probably never understand why we look at the torque versus revs more than the power Windy Quote
Ric Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 This was at 11.5 lbs boost, torque at about 240 lbs/ft, not bad from a "bike" engine (max boost is about 20 lbs) Ric Quote
Ian Podmore Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 torque at about 240 lbs/ft Someones having you on That power plot gives the following approximate torque: 4k 75 lb/ft 5k 116 6k 154 7k 170 8k 178 9k 164 10k 159 So where does 240 lb/ft come from Quote
Matt Seabrook Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 I agree with Ian looks like another case of BBB Quote
windy Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 And not forgetting its the area UNDER the torque curve that's the important bit. The peak torque means nothing on its own but needs to be in a FLAT area to be useful. Windy Quote
