The Album also depends upon your age as music has so many memories attached to it as well.

For me the Album I probably play the most is Goodbye Yellow Brick Road by Elton John from the time I met my wife and played on a cheap in car cassette player always been a favorite.  The other is Paranoid by Black Sabbath.

As Dave said albums do come in and out but these two are constants.

I've a wildly eclectic collection of music covering multiple genres - they're all favourites.😊

@Robin (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO defo, The The (Slow Train, Beaten Generation, Sodium Light Baby etc). The Oils too - growing up in NZ means they and Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel, INXS, Jenny Morris, Split Enz, et al were part and parcel in my formative years. And the decade before also - Doobie Brothers, Little Feat, The Band, Linda Ronstadt and others.

Not my most favourite album (vinyl) but one I wouldn't part with is my limited edition 5-disc box set of Laurie Anderson's seminal America I-IV (United States Live).

Favourite music docu-film is The Band's concert The Last Waltz - the opening credit says "This film should be played loud!" - 'nuf said.

Stevie Ray Vaughan is a big favourite - Riviera Paradise is written down to be played at my funeral. In fact blues is the genre I lean most towards. My absolute guilty pleasure is Samantha Fish - the skill of this young woman's singing, songwriting and burning guitar playing shows no bounds, and in less than 10 years is about to release her 7th album. Saw her live in Edinburgh the other week on her latest European tour - I was in awe, absolutely fizzing, and got to meet her too!

There are some fantastic variations of music tastes amongst the members of this club. It always amazes me how many people will come up with a band or an album that I have never heard of. Also, when you ask the people "out there" what they like, the vast majority of people seem have a favourite album that is either not what you would expect, or something completely unheard of. Lots of people will list popular albums as being in their favourites list, but will have a soft spot for a particular album that is probably quite "out of the blue". It does make you realise how big the music industry is.

I am now off to listen to some music that's been listed on this thread! Who knows, might find a new favourite album.... 🎧🎶:d

I find it difficult to pick a favourite because it depends how I'm feeling. Should it be classical, or jazz, or blues or even rock guitar based music?

But of all the records I have one of my favourites is a re-issue on 180 gm. vinyl, of the 1958 recording of Jascha Heifetz playing the Tschaikowsky violin concerto in D, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Fritz Reiner.

If you like classical violin concertos, it is exquisite. The music was written by Tschaikowsky principally for Leopold Auer who was one of the greatest violin maestros of the Victorian period. Auer wouldn't play it however for at least 3 years, saying that he considered it so difficult as to be unplayable. In old age, Auer introduced his young progidy Jascha Heifetz to this masterpiece, and the rest is history.

Like others, couldn't say a single one. Also agree there's an element of age involved, but that said, despite being just the right side of 60, recently I find myself rather enjoying some Deadmau5, Sohn, Chvrches, Chromatics, M83.

Always enjoy Pink Floyd, Joy Division, New Order, Eurythmics, the stuff from my younger days.

Music library is literally an A to Z though, although nothing classical of any flavour - never really acquired the taste for it.

Here's my current queue on Spotify - shows how my tastes have changed since the Floyd days - although this is during work, so not as much dance/trance as there often is.

@Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO  I like to think I have a open mind so I've been right through that list on Youtube. I don't have queues or playlists, just my phone player on random so my genres leap all over the place. Had a quick flick through and found a couple of things that maybe meet you half way!

Tash Sultana – Jungle (live)   ...I'm in awe of the talent of any good looper

Straw People – Trick with a knife

Alphamama – Spit Me Out

Tracy Lords – Fallen Angel
