I have an 01 x-plate 330ci sport myself, 5 sp manual, just rolled over to 158k this weekend. Got into BMW sort of by mistake, having unexpectedly written off my car I did a search for cars within 20miles and under a grand, discounted anything super boring, and ended up with a E36 316 compact. Fairly gutless due to the 1.6l but an absolute hoot to drive and with the ditch finder it came with on the rear would still do the rwd thing a treat. Roll on three years, sold the E36 on to a mate and bought the E46 as I was doing more road miles and wanted a few more creature comforts, had that three years nearly now, maintained on a pretty much 'gets all its needs' basis and as yet no plans to replace it. MPG averages 28 long term on mixed driving in 20min urban commute, but will do 38 on a motorway run if not much more. Yet to fit a towbar to is as the westfield has been off the road and I can pull in odd favours to more the trailer when I need to but other than the fitting cost I see no reason not to. I would love to fit a ATB diff to it, but while I would get the enjoyment, I just cant justify the cost for what is mainly just a cheap daily motorway machine. Daniel 2 Quote

I think we share engine... to be honest, this is by far the best engine I've ever had. 42mpg on motorway cruises... and 28mpg on town driving. I just love it. Yes indeed. Just had mine spend a day with the Zed Shed in Helens for that very reason, Vanos rebuild and some cooling parts! On 19/10/2018 at 17:32, nice_guy said: Thanks a lot... I felt soooo lame until I read your post ! No idea what mine and the OPs car is worth, but well below the average on here. Although its remarkable how fast prices fall in the first few years they do carry on falling for the next decade! Daniel 1 Quote
Skypeller Posted October 22, 2018 Author Posted October 22, 2018 @dhutch great to hear from you! I started off with; 318i e36 saloon 1997 (high mileage) 318i e36 saloon 1996 (low mileage) 328i coupe 1996 (amazing car! Super fast back in 2006 when you’re 19!) 330ci clubsport 2003 328i coupe sport 1997 318ti compact 1.9 16v 330ci imola red sport tan leather 330ci sport silver 330ci sport topaz blue much like current one but with black & tan interior and tv etc etc 330ci topaz blue grey leather current - near mint and very very good car current value somewhere around £3000. 96k Miles ish. Full history tons of Ott maintenance! 130i m sport 5 door silver 271bhp 2007. I think that’s it for BMW’s I’ve had The 330ci is a very capable car, certainly something worthy of nurnburgring budget capable fun, I’ve had a lot of cars some quicker some slower but they’re just about the best alrounder for sub 6-7000 that I’ve had! That includes mk5 gti golfs, focus st’s, the 130, the Impreza prodrive etc When I bought my first one it was around 5year old and cost me about £12,000 that was a cracking car buying it outright when I was 22. It will be very hard parting with about 10-15k for my next car considering how amazing this one has been (and still is) for what it’s currently worth, those 328is I had have a big following now and are worth decent money - they’ve appreciated over the last 4 years greatly Quote
BigSkyBrad Posted October 23, 2018 Posted October 23, 2018 My daily is a sh*tbox Corsa 1.2! Cheap to run and fix, and negligible depreciation. Bought it for a grand, previous OAP owner, it's done under 60k, and five years later I'd probably get a grand for it! We live 7-mins from my work and the car barely gets up to temp, so no use having something flash to ruin. But never content to have a bog-standard car, I shouted it a sporty exhaust and 195/50-15's. 4 Quote
SXRORY Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Behold the mondeo 2.0d titanium x sport. geezer before spec'd it nicely with a few options. Only reason I got it was I needed a family wagon and we like camping and its massive inside (i think it looks alright too). 1 Quote
Skypeller Posted October 30, 2018 Author Posted October 30, 2018 @SXRORY friend at work bought one for the same reason, he’s had evo FQ’s and focus rs and loves the Mondeo, yes definitely worse looking cars around, it’s a focus st saloon in my eyes but not quite as pokey, but twice the fuel economy I bet Quote
