Current classic car prices are just crazy. I never thought my little cars could be thought of as being in this category as they were intended to be individual pieces of “fun”motoring. They were fun then and I am sure now. i still remember driving number 1 and thinking great FUN!! Enjoy!4 points

Had a day off work today, had a few things to do, thankfully got an hour or 2 of actual free time ! So made a start on dragging the xflow into the modern era. Mounted my coil pack, using a Transit mount, and throttle position sensor, my Weber's don't have the 2 threaded holes for mounting, so got the new Dremel out and improvised. Toothed pulley and crank sensor to go on next time I get chance, then wire up the Nodiz ECU.1 point

Sorted Dash is back from RT fitted back in car and all is working as it should Can't fault Race Technology, great service and a pleasure to deal with. It only took them 2 days to repair and return the dash2 to me and they have also re-sealed it so hopefully no more water getting in. Thanks @Mistercorn1 point

If you are somewere about stafford, Pop in to crewe if you want to check few of the things you want for your car.. actually mostly with the setup you are looking for... ITB, JK seats, Aeroscreen, loads of carbon... My car isn't perfect... is treated and maintained as a race car and far from the "perceccionist" OCD standart... but definitely worth a look to understand if you really want a tidy version of this stuff, or you may thing on something much more standart...1 point

Being financial precautious ( my mrs calls it tight ) , and not wanting to pay £40 extra, the new sofa we were having delivered today was due sometime today with no specific delivery slot. It arrived about 3:45 for those interested So rather than risk a run out in the crisp sunshine, I decided to get a few little jobs done. Got round to fitting my SBFS boot tonneau. I has to use the poppers already fitted to the body, and in reality they could have done with being placed a bit lower down to make the location of the clips on the cover a bit better. But it's all fitted, reasonably tensioned, and I also added another row of poppers so my half hood can still fasten easy. I now own most of the SBFS range ! Sure there should be a sponsorship deal in there somewhere ! I also replaced the gear gaiter, as I suspect the original one was a 60's survivor, and I use the term survivor loosely ! Here is the old one prior to removal And the new one, a generic Aliexpress special, I suspect pleather rather than leather, but it looks fine. And then, I've missed not having a rear view mirror, tried one of the stick on jobs on the screen , it fell off, not not until it had vibrated so much it was unusable. So I've gone for an old school dash mounted one. Just hoping it doesn't obscure too much vision. Other job ticked off, was to refresh the seal on the scuttle and nose that the bonnet seal against. The old ones were in poor condition and letting the panels rattle. Gone for something a little more D shaped that compress, hopefully that'll sort it. Not a bad way to waste a day.1 point

As usual we will be at the Chuch Mouse from 7.30. Get yourself along and remember you don’t have to turn up in a Westy (it’s STILL freezin oot there)1 point

Put Christmas back in the loft today, and decided to get some mundane tasks done. Needed a new 2D bulb for the porch and some bulbs for the living room. Take the Westy to Toolstation seemed the obvious answer. Off with it's wrappers, started it up and off we go, it's only a quick 15 minute run, and the weather was just nice enough to enjoy the roof off without feeling too cold. By the time I leave Toolstation, the sky had turned grey and the first spots of rain were landing on the interior ! That's it, long way home it is, if I'm gonna get wet, I might as well get wet having fun. Couple of pleasant hours past, people pointing and laughing ( not sure if at car or me getting wet ) saw a few bikers on vintage machinery, waved and got some nods back, nice to see there are other idiots about ! Got home, unpacked my stuff and threw the roof and cover back on, just in time for the sky to turn blue gain ! Fitted my bulbs at home, then uncovered the Westy again. I have a half hood, and am about to fit a boot tonneau, and want a neat solution to all the poppers and don't really want to use gypsy double studs as I find the don't hold well. So moved the poppers for the side hood loops onto the roll bar, they actually work better here too, and don't pop off as easy when tensioning the hood. Still awaiting a reply form SBFS about boot tonneau, so not fitted that as of yet. I'm thinking of adding a 2nd set of 4 poppers to the rear tub just below the stock ones, so the half hood can be deployed with the boot tonneau on without disturbing it. If the weather is nice tomorrow, I'll do first run of 2018 and look into that I reckon. I've really enjoyed the end of 2017, and getting a Westy is one of the main reasons, I've had faster, comfier, quieter cars, but none with quite the sense of occasion that the Westy provides, and none of them that were quite so scary at speeds that you have a chance of retaining your license doing. Roll on 20181 point
