In the camera instructions gopro reccomend the use of their charger http://gopro.com/camera-accessories/auto-charger Ah - awesome! Thanks Mark. I didn't even think about trying that, since I don't have a cigarette lighter in any of the cars I use the camera in They would, it's about £30 Edit: I am guessing there is some extra trickery going on with their charger, I just tried my camera with a 'normal' USB lead and it won't turn on while connected to a USB port on my PC. May be worth the extra in that case. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 You don't have to have a GoPro branded car charger lead, but there have been instance of GoPro's being damaged by some of the cheap eBay car/USB charger leads. Quote
AdamR Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 That makes sense - I am guessing the ones without a fuse cause the issues? Appears GoPro's one charges at 1A. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Not sure, but as you say, the GoPro draws a fair amount of current. Quote
AdamR Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 I'll try and get a small in-car clip asap, although we are due 6" of snow here today... Little bit late, but here goes! Everything should be explained in the video... And the same lap in 'full quality' with data overlay. Was really impressed at how the camera (Hero3 Black) dealt with the contrasts and strong, low sunlight: For anyone interested, the overlay was done with: - Racechrono (for Android), free app on my phone - Cheap eBay BlueTooth GPS doobery (about £35) - Racerender software (free versrion, but will probably buy this, its $25 I think) - Excel to smooth / sort the data - Adobe Premiere for the editing Interesting to see how much of the traction circle I have left to exploit! Something to work on for future... In other news - currently trying to nail down some details regarding a GoPro Group Buy if anyone could be interested? Quote
tkm_dave Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Was really impressed at how the camera (Hero3 Black) dealt with the contrasts and strong, low sunlight I was at this trackday and I can vouch for how impressive the footage quality/contrast is. Coming out of one corner in particular it was actually difficult to see due to the low sun and glaring damp track first thing in the morning, I'm pretty shocked how little that shows up on the footage Adam got! bl**** impressive cameras these, a serious step up from previous GoPros.
