darve Posted April 29, 2012 Author Share Posted April 29, 2012 OK, so here's what I've ordered: FW front classic rear white bodywork black aero screen carbon effect cyle wings carbon effect stone guards carbon effect lights full cage long range tank sport tubo seats with white piping black carpets 15" Team Dynamics pro race wrapped in R1R's standard dash (as contoured doesn't work with aero screen ) white guages standard bushes lowered floor as standard runners for seats probably forgotton something can you get a quick rack on the Mazda? what are peoples thoughts on that? Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 29, 2012 Share Posted April 29, 2012 that's a very nice spec The steering rack westfield use is mk2 escort, so fitting a quicker rack won't be an issue. the standard westfield rack comes fitted with lockstops to stop the cycle wings hitting the body at full lock, so if you source a rack from elsewhere you'll also need to fit some lockstops to it. Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman Posted April 30, 2012 Share Posted April 30, 2012 If you think there's likely to be more than a couple of months before you're ready to fit bodywork, I strongly recommend giving the factory a quick call and asking if you can have the bodywork separately. I know it's a fair drive, but it's not just easier and less risky if you don't have to store the (bulky) bodywork safely. It also means the tub hasn't been curing and relaxing for months. The "relaxing" part you can take care off to some extent by making sure there are plenty of bits of support timber screwed on. The curing, well that's just going to happen! Some of the steps involving twisting and pulling on the tub - such as fixing the lower rear edge, are so much easier with a fresh, still slightly green tub. This gets steadily harder as it cures, to the point where you hear of people using jacks to lift the edge far enough up to rivet. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Mark (smokey mow) Posted April 30, 2012 Share Posted April 30, 2012 I second what Gadget says, to save having to store the tub and also risk damage it is better not to collect the bodywork until you're ready for it. I'd read a few horror stories about fitting the tub, but mine went on a treat as it was litterally the day after collection that I dropped it onto the chassis. A chassis also fit's nicely on the roof rack so you wont even need to hire a van Although it was fun trying to get it in the garage to unload 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
