darrellhuth
Think I finally figured out how to post a pic. My front frame seems to be different from all the others I have seen.
Mark (smokey mow)
Think I finally figured out how to post a pic. My front frame seems to be different from all the others I have seen. Looks the same as mick's (mhc) http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o185/mickmade/004.jpg
spence
Wow! A couple of lovely looking pre-lits, both stunners, and I really love deep dish wheels like Spence.s, they suit the character of his car completely. Evo's car is a superb modern iteration of an early car too... Thanks If you look closely at the back ones they do protrude out of the arch very slightly but using 195 tyres I can just about get away with it. When I bought the car it was very well put together example so have needed to change very little really. So am now trying very hard not to take away how it was first put together, unfortunately at times things have got the better of me. I changed the wheels from the 17's which in turn affected the cycle wings so had to change them. As you can see in the last picture on Tiggers website, the only real other differences apart from the usual replacing or upgrading worn parts is the lights ( I have kept the original ones ) which I hope complement it and the JK seats. As to the Rad, mine has brackets on the bottom so giving more of a slant to the rad. Evo,s 7SE's ( I want that rad ) looks more upright than mine giving him more space for the cooler. IIRC My cooler is bolted on a bracket just behind the steering rack. As already said, the engine is out atm so will try to do some pics in a day or so. Unable to do this weekend as I having been working.
darrellhuth
You are right, it does. I remember reading the thread about this one and people thought it was not a westfield? I will assume at this point that not all "pre-lit" frames were the same? My dilemma is how and where to mount a radiator. What you don't see in my picture is the front anti roll bar I removed ( You can see the holes in the frame ) ...There does not seem to be enough room in front of the anti roll bar to mount any kind of a good size raditaor / fan....I just run out of room with the cowl on. I think I may look for a radiator that will fit just inside the frame .
scott_prelit now westfield_bumble
Theres a few pics of mine in the "then and now thread" clicky post
mhc
A few pictures of my pre lit front end showing radiator position. Also a picture of the pedal arrangement, no good for size 10s. But just like an early Westfield they all seem to be different with their use of square and round tube
Evo,s 7SE
mine had brackets top and bottom on chassis i cut them off and used westfield brackets at top and made my own for the bottom the rad is a polo rad and i think they are smaller than the escort ones in the pic i dont run an oil cooler now i,ve gone to dry sump the remote filter is in the same sort of place the engine bay is tight with all the extra piping and dry sump tank etc
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
My favourite all time Prelit which belongs to a friend of mine. I have a feeling that it will soon have competition from someone elses
darrellhuth
To MHC...Thanks for posting these pictures, this was what I needed to see! As it turns out, my rad was mounted just like yours...( sort of ) and has the same aluminum bracket on top. Looks like what I have may be the way it was originally done. Is your car a 4 speed ? mhc
Hi Darrell ,it did have a four speed, but that will be changed to a six speed with 13,200 rpm and 365 bhp. I do hope thats not a misprint .
John Loudon - Sponsorship Liaison
You know its a misprint you old devil - it should be 13,250rpm
darrellhuth
Once again, thank you so much! Now I know exactly how to do it, you really have been a great help! ( Thanks to all those who posted pictures for me to see, I now have a few other ideas as well on what to do from seeing all of them ) I noticed in one of your pictures that your rad is offset a little to one side, another clue I needed to see. Next time you are in California stop by, I will buy you dinner!
mhc
Darrell. Thanks for the offer. The Cliff House at San Francisco would do fine. I will give you plenty of notice. Best regards Mick
Captain Colonial
The Cliff House at San Francisco would do fine. I'm sure it would, but Oxnard is quite a distance from San Francisco. Trust me, I lived in San Diego from '73 to '87 and I know. Darrell, he'd be happy with that local French place in Oxnard, Le Jac en le Boite Funny enough, there's someone very close by to you that used to haunt these boards that you should stay well clear of, unless you enjoy copious amounts of BS. If anyone in the LA area talks to you about Westfields and gives advice, ignore it and come here - please.
mhc
If San Francisco is too far , perhaps a beer in the Kansas City bar in San Diego.
