Dommo
Can't stop grinning Think that's the first time I've driven a Westfield in 7 or so years. Good to be reminded of what all this is for!

Dommo
Here come the vids... I hope. Never added them before! Keep your eye on the right hand side for a puddle of fuel forming! It was from the fuel pump outlet, the clamp didn't go tight enough. Replaced with a jubilee clip for now and new clamp ordered today. So, with the fuel pump fixed, take two... Yay! And no fuel leaks from the engine bay side. Shocking...
Dommo
So, off for a drive. "Check the brakes"... yeah we'll deal with that later And back... Obviously, that's a private road and whatnot

Mark (smokey mow)
I love the way someone shouts "don't forget to test the brakes" just as you accelerate away into the distance
Dommo
It's funny how post engine start it feels a different phase of the build. I guess you can tell you're getting towards the end by looking at the job list - that notice board is usually pretty full! So, this week saw work recommence and my aims are to have the rear lights fitted and half of the boot box trimmed by Thursday. I finished off the rear lights today so I seem to be ahead of schedule. I've arranged them so they're all in line, though there's not really any other way when you consider the outer lights position is dictated by the arches anyway! It's all wired up and I fitted a relay for the rear fog so it only comes on if the side lights are on. Oddly though, the reverse light doesn't come on. Really oddly, it's got 12v at it and even 12v in the bulb holder. Take the bulb holder out of the fog light, plug it into the reverse light and nothing happens. Plug it back into the fog light and it works. Yet there's 12v across the bulb holder when it's plugged into the reverse light. Que?!
KugaWestie
Dom You need fog light wired so it only come on with headlights, not sidelights
Dommo
Correct! "The lamp(s) must only illuminate when dipped beam, main beam, or front fog lamps are lit" Good spot Simple change of the relay input, phew!
KugaWestie
Correct! "The lamp(s) must only illuminate when dipped beam, main beam, or front fog lamps are lit" Good spot Simple change of the relay input, phew! No problem - they do check it at IVA, and like you say, 2 minutes to sort it out now rather than later
Dommo
The neighbourhood has learned some new swear words the past few days but the boot box and RAC bar is finally fitted. Should've thought ahead and bought a Plays-kool boot box! When I test fitted the RAC bar I marked where it passed through the tub. This meant when I slipped the boot box in I had a vague idea of where the cuts would need to start. I thus opened these out a little bit. By putting a bolt in the top and bottom of the RAC stay fixings I could tie a wire between them and thus have a good idea of where the centre of the stay would pass through. It wasn't quite central due to the nature of the knots but close enough. With my head in the wheel arch I could mark where the wire was going. I marked out lines just under half the radius of the tube and made the first cuts. From there it was just a case of filing until it was right. Or maybe a bit too far... Having done all that, I had to file them out further when it came to fitting the rubber trim anyway. So with the hassle of having to remove the bar to fit the passenger side harness mount, then turning lots of the boot box into dust, then fitting it all I've pretty much finished the back end. I'd better have because I certainly don't want to be removing the boot box again! Just need to source some countersunk bolts to secure it. The rubber trim even made the driver side cutout a bit less 'severe' My IVA forms were received on Friday and I got a call today asking for payment. Hopefully I'll have the date soon! Not too much more to do now, major bits being the cycle wings and interior. About three weeks I reckon. I hope. I've asked for an IVA on the 19th June!
