Howdoo,

After the successful first run out as a group are there any thoughts as to a second run? It looks like I might be quiet work wise from the start of August and back to working in the office for a short spell so I could be available for a blat...

Has anyone has any preference to dates - start the bidding?

I'll be home from around the 20th July but I can't make it on the 31st July/1st August or 14th/15th August or 29th August weekends due to race committments...

I'm up for it - can't do anything in July though. 1st August onwards for me.

Ok, how about making plans for a run on the 21st or 22nd August?

Anybody got any 'must do' routes?

If you fancy a run on the east coast, there's a good loop that I do from my house: from Arbroath head to Blairgowrie, up to Glenshee, Banchory then over the Cairn O Mount to Fettercairn and back to Arbroath. Or you could continue on from Banchory over the slug road to Stonehaven then down the A92 coast road to Arbroath.

I'm also willing to do a run on the west coast too as I haven't much experience of those roads. A run across to the west coast and then up and around the top of Scotland is definately on my list of things to do :)

What's abody's thoughts?

Maybe we should move this thread to Events?

Either day that weekend would work for me. Happy to travel a bit to meet up, so am flexible on the route.

It would be good to maximise the number of cars we get at least once this year, so I certainly don't mind an early start (I'm near Edinburgh).

Your suggested route is a great one for Westy's (weather permitting!).

Cheers,

Matt

Works for me - it's right in the middle of the country and means everyone's got a bit of a drive to get there.

Saturday 21st August?

Hi

A run from Perth would be good for me.

What about adding a bit to the route described above and going up to Pitlochry then over into Glenshee and down to Blairgowrie?

Anytime in August is also fine for me.

I'm happy to do any of the routes mentioned - the one Davie mentioned sounds good, as does the addition that Craig (brian_2fast2003) mentioned. Craig (Jumpy07) - I've heard good things about the Applecross run before as well. Where does this road take us?

I guess the first thing is to cement the date - Saturday 21st August seems to be okay with everyone so far? Then we can start to plan a route... Can tthe routes mentioned already be done in a single run? I'm not too worried about being home for tea... Although the lights on the car are kek so would want  to be home for dark o'clock (nothing to with me turning into a neep at night - arguably people find that I'm a neep most of the time...   )

I think that I might be able to make the 21st, I should be back from work by then.

up for that route but would prefer the Sunday , i have a track day at oulton park on the wednesday before so if no objections lets go for Sunday the 21st .Hows about Kinross services for 10/10.30 and a further meeting up in Perth for say 11.30  follow wee dov,s route with a lunch stop  any more suggestions post them up. i have to agree with Jumpy Applecross is fantastic but i think we would have to make a weekend of that run and have an overnight camp to get the benifits of the fantastic roads up there Applesross campsite would be a good base for us .

I'd easy be up for a weekend away route too - wouldn't get away with not bringing the missus though as she fare likes being out and about in the car too. In saying that, she'd likely be up for the day out road trip as well...

I've been doing a skek about on t'internet on the roads around Applecross - looks excellent! The road from Tornapress direct to Applecross looks like summit from the Alps! Ziplob/Jumpy07 have just cemented my need to do a run across that way!

August/September time on the west coast is midgy time though    - not sure what its like further north, but Kames (ayrshire) can be almost unbearable!

If its a single day we do this time, then I'm open to either day...

Applecross from what I hear is the berries but TBH I think thats a weekend trip, but we can do it if that's what we all want .

For a run ,ie one day, lets go with the meeting at Kinross services for the boys from south of Perth then we meet the others at Perth McDonalds on the motor mile (where all the car garages are )then start the run from there.

ZIP LOB can't do Sat so to  allow us to maximise the amount of cars, are we all ok for Sun?

Wee Dov.
