Martin Keene
shame NAS isn't big enough to hold a stage of the SS...or is it? Well they manage to squeeze a small rally stage on to it for the Historic Show... No there's an idea!
slippy
A round of the SS is a belting idea best yet in fact
stu999
I feel a competition coming on. How many helium ballons will it take to lift my pinto ? That will certainly be visible from a distance, possibly even from space. Especially if we could get it to screech and emit white smoke... Mark Stanton
QUOTE A round of the SS is a belting idea best yet in fact So how long will it take for the MSA to grant a circuit licence to the NAC for a pucker timed competition event then I'll let you sort out the paperwork on that Mr O and IF by some slightest chance a licence is obtained I'll pay for your entry myself Before hearts rule heads lets keep it real
slippy
How did they get permission for the slowly sideways crew to blat round ?
Asterix
if we can't run (and we haven't tried yet), let's walk. What about a non-competitive "tour" round the showground (like a trackday, just over a stage)
Asterix
Sub-contract a Westfield themed kart do or even....dodgems Done dodgems at a ball...top stuff
Mark Stanton
QUOTE How did they get permission for the slowly sideways crew to blat round ? It was a non-competitive demonstration event with cars driven by designated and insured drivers only QUOTE A round of the SS is a belting idea best yet in fact Is a totally different matter
Pew
Head to head build between factory and owners. Better stand in middle of floor space to get 360 view of the build. Passenger experience as per Caterham. Upgrade-itus examples / masterclasses. Such as engine, Std Rollbar to RAC, boot box changes for RAC bar etc. Find the WSCC member in the underpants and helmet in the showground. V8grunt
Well. Well. Well. After looking at all the "Advice" on this blog?? Catering van were "Charging" for there vomit making! (SEE MY TRIP IN MR STANTONS CAR! BLOG) twisty, turny, "O" look how good are cars are.....Pay for a go ride! (How much did they make? they were queuing up for the privilege! Doooo!) LOOK at the customers who come in to the show past Our plot!! 5% are possibly looking at a purchase! Only 1/2% of that attendance may buy a kit car! If!!!!! As they entered they where offered a FREE ride in a Westfieild of their choice... Out of the show....On to the local roads, for a SAFE! drive, (drivers selected/picked). I think a trip out on the local roads (insured) would be FAR more appealing than a £10 trip around the "Scalextric" catering van track! Alcohol is nice! Even nicer if given to prospective buyer's Take them for a ride..... when they come back, give them a drink. Tea, Coffee, Lager, Cider? (Cider?) Cheers, Totally knackered 00:31 in the morning! Good job I a'int in till 10:30 am. Grunt!
mr-rad
I know nothing about how to go about organising an event and how to get MSA approval, If running a timed SS event is not possible could it be done without being timed? This would tick so many peoples boxes and attract a crowd. What about an autotest? Add a rule that cars must have two occupants so grab a passenger fom the crowd who rides for free. Keep it relatively simple to eliminate risk. A "10 of the best" event?

chazpowerslide
At the BMF (British Motorcycle Federation) rally held at Peterborough Show Ground each year (not been for a while) Harley Davidson used do Demo rides for free on their range of bikes. These follow a pre determined route under the supervision of experienced riders. It would be difficult to do this with Westfields but it may be a good idea for the owners of the various Westfield types to give free "demo" rides around a set route in convoy in the local area (maybe suplimented by the factory demonstraters) Two or three groups of up to 5 or 6 cars could be "on the go" rotating throughout the day, this would ensure the que of awaiting passengers moved on fairly quickly and would help to get round the inevitable traffic around the showground. This would give the punters a chance to experience the cars over a range of roads in the company of other Westies (A La Sunday morning area blat), chat to the owners and find out about the club. What ever we do, picking a few things to do and doing them well will beat taking on too much and doing it badly. Chaz.
markcoopers
I like the idea of convoying all 200+ westfields around the outside stages at various times over the weekend. can you imagine the noise/visual spectical of over 200 in a line all over the stands? Like the idea of a flame/noise competition Still think a drag race comp is possible Big ballon is a good idea, except i can see at lest me or part of me attached to it at some point in the evening. Demo rides would be a good idea A band would be excellent Raffles will be done in 2008, just takes a bit more organising than I gave it credit for. Perhaps an auction for some parts from the factory or the club? Organise presentations from some of the clubs sponsors on suspension set up, tyre technology, engine tuning/maping, graphics/pictures and plastics etc....
