Blatman Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 ah yes but look at the tasteful interior you get with the CSR Actually, I quite like the CSR interior. It's easily the best looking Se7en interior/dash layout. Well, I think it is... Quote
Mark B Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I like the rest of the interior, just the dash I'm not sold on, I'm not sure it's inkeeping with a seven. Looks more TVRish imo... Quote
James Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 ah yes but look at the tasteful interior you get with the CSR *COUGH* as I choke on my tea! Im really not sure wheather to take you seriosly or not but lets just say I think Caterham have got that one hideously wrong Quote
langy Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 The whole Cateringvan thing,..? are they lots heavier than westfields? If you want heavy, go for an Xtreme Quote
Aves Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Sorry - got left behind - On the value point , it all depends how you define value. On bang per buck it's difficult to argue that a £10K Megabusa is not better value than a £20 Caterham bike engined car. I still think from experience that the residual value of Caterhams is better, You NEVER see a Caterham of any description that isn't a complete & utter shed going for less than £7K.I struggled for months to sell my tidy Sei for £4K a few years ago & that had a £9K build in 93. The SV Caterhams are horrible unless you are a fat b@stard. If you want a capacious barge then buy a bl**** Chrysler Crossfire. Short sighted marketing too. OK so after the SV was launched 50% of orders in the first year were for SV's. That doesn't mean that you then switch to SV only. What it means is that there were a bunch of pie-eaters who have been waiting for years because they can't get their lardy arses into a standard body. Once that batch of Chubbers dry up there will be an issue because the more sveldt of us want a car that we don't rattle/slide/lurch around in. It's also butt ugly in a class of fairly ugly cars (IMHO) Quote
Peter Cox Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 yawn...I'm just going to rest on this step for a minute...10 Stella's left....hic....hic...zzzzzzzz Quote
Mike dB Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 The chubbers are only going to grow not minimise, well, that's if you believe what the media tells you! As for residuals, I guess that depends on your outlook, both the cars I had I never lost a penny & I know that if I still had the zetec car I could get more than I paid for it, perhaps I was just lucky..... As has been said, both cars are fantastic & any 7 car is, if you enjoy what you drive, who gives a f**k? I'm just jealous because I don't have either at the moment Quote
langy Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 As has been said, both cars are fantastic & any 7 car is, if you enjoy what you drive, who gives a f**k? Well said Quote
James Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I still think from experience that the residual value of Caterhams is better, b*****k* the residual value on both are on a par just cos you get back more on a caterham dosnt mean they drop any less you still had to fork out more in the first place I have a freind that lost £8000.00 in just over two years and five thousend miles layter on a superb example Cat still think there residual is good Quote
Blatman Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 I struggled for months to sell my tidy Sei for £4K a few years ago & that had a £9K build in 93. SLR's/R400's are what new? 30K. It's rare you see one S/H for more than 17K, even those that are still quite young. If I have time, I may just research this properly on the For Sales on Blatchat and here, to see if we can finally lay this myth (and I firmly believe it is a myth) that C******m residuals are *significanly* better than Westfields as to make it a reason to buy a C******m rather than a Westfield. As I have said many times before, if you compare residual prices as a percentage of original cost rather than comparing actual amounts of money spent/lost, I'll bet the two marques are pretty close. IF I can be bothered... Quote
Bananaman Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 a bunch of pie-eaters who .................................... can't get their lardy arses into a standard body. Oi I resemble that remark... Quote
Mark B Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Shall we mention the R500evo aswell then? 43K new, they only sold three, I wonder how much you'd pick one up for now? Quote
Mike dB Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 You must have caught me on a good/bad day When are you selling the current one then? Quote
Aves Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 "I have a freind that lost £8000.00 in just over two years and five thousend miles layter on a superb example Cat still think there residual is good " Yup - & I can spell. Quote
cidersurfer Posted August 18, 2005 Posted August 18, 2005 Isn't it 'Yep'? Or is that a regional dialect? Quote
