kitcarman Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Question for Steppenwolf….. When did your sub expire? Question 2 for Steppenwolf….. based on your observation “NEVER KNOCK YOUR COMPETITION!” (which incidentally, until June this year, I’ve lived by). I’ll first rhetorically ask if you’ve ever been subject to a successful smear campaign at the hands of any of your competitors AND succeed in Court and with agencies such as ASA BUT still failed to stem the flow of lies about you? The non-rhetorical question concerns whether the uniqueness of this circumstance and the truthfulness of what’s been said in any way justifies or at least mitigates what you see as my attack? Correction for Blatman….. I didn’t suggest “that any other Se7en is a rip off.” My remark was clearly focused on Razer. Question for Blatman….. In view of your statement “Rubbish. If you wanted to stop, you wouldn't have registered here as a user to start posting.” Did you actually read the PistonHeads thread to which I referred, in which I explained that what’s already been printed will continue to appear until stocks are exhausted? Question for Westfieldman 2002…. When did you last buy a copy of Kit Car? Question for Steve Wilson. . . You say that we didn’t respond to your letter. I’m genuinely surprised because I’ve been very careful to deal with customer’s feedback on this subject. Two questions. When did you write? and would you please copy it to me personally. 11 Meadow Cl, HOVE, Sx. BN3 6QQ or e-mail me Kitcarman at ntlworld dot com? I’ve not wittingly ignored any correspondence – honestly!
Buzz Billsberry Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Please Folks, Listen to yourselves! Not one of you has so much as hinted at apologising for saying, or going along with the suggestion, that my magazine contains slander. Many harp-on about the slagging going on for years, when in-fact so far as Kit Car is concerned it started in June of this year. The slagging which took place before that was in fact slander and was accepted as such in the High Court of Justice. It was an entirely one-sided vendetta waged against me and my company by an absolute liar and cheat. Somebody suggested that I involve the PCC. Well I did. Their first rule says that the outcome of any legal action against a magazine will be published by that magazine. When I asked the PCC to enforce that rule I was told that because I’m also a publisher they’ll take no action. So instead of apologising in print, Fibs has been saying that he didn’t loose the action and that I was ‘spineless’ in publishing the outcome. Anybody sympathise with me? I also asked the advertising standards authority (ASA) to deal with a number of false advertising claims that were being made by Fib’s. They agreed with me, told Fib’s to stop, but he didn’t. I then found out that the ASA work by asking the publisher to withdraw the ‘wrong’ advertising of rogue advertisers. When the rogue advertiser is the rogue publisher, they’re stuck. Any sympathy yet? As I said, I started my campaign a mere 5 issues ago, have only said truthful things, yet face a situation were people such as you report that I’m as bad as Fib’s and equally to blame. I think you’d be miffed if you were in my position. Is anybody in the least sympathetic yet? For the reasons stated above (and a few others) I lost my rag when I learnt that Fibs had called me a liar to one specific advertiser in respect to my accurately published circulation figures. He’d also published a report in Which Kit? to the effect that Kit Car had ‘dubious standards’ that were ‘tarnishing’ Which Kit?’s reputation. How would you react in my situation? Result – I lost it. 5 years of pent-up emotion got summarised into the 5 pages of TRUTHFUL comment that you’re now passing judgement on. On other forums I’ve admitted that it all got too emotional, too personal and too extensive. I’m only human. However, unlike Fibs I’m an honest human who lost patience. Anybody empathise? Den. PS. I am me. At least I was when I looked in the mirror this morning. What evidence would you like? Mothers maiden name? Bla,bla, bla, bla, bla Glorious leader lets kill this thread NOW PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE Buzz
windy Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Yep the pistonheads thread was a yawn too. Save your money & buy this weeks Autocar instead. Much better read - especially page 62!!!!!!
Buzz Billsberry Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 I guess your in it then windy? Good lad!! what's the Windy Massive been up to to get in a proper mag....I hope you haven't been sellin' ya batty! have you? Buzz
chazpowerslide Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Since the demise of CCC I've brought a couple of copies of "Octain" (new kid on the block car mag) and I must admit I've been fairly impressed with it. It seems to be where CCC was a while back but up to date IYSWIM. I'd much rather spend my money on this than KC or WK. Why? It takes me about an hour longer to read Octain cover to cover at WH Smiths than it takes me to read KC or WK (about 45 mins for both) as the edatorial content is very well written and INTERESTING. At the end of the read there is a desire to actually "pay" for and leave with Octain. I have no desire to do so with KC or WK (read and forget and forgotten) they stay on the shelf. I have the desire to read Octain it's new, it's retro but new, and it does'nt treat me like a moron. I'm a bit sad that that kitcarman has soiled our foreum with his tails of downtroddeness and tails of woe. Being right doesn't make you a winner. Being a winner makes you a winner, so go out and win. Comprenhensivly go out and stuff the opposition and proove your the best, stop winging about the (legally expensive) past, accept that what is is. Life is unfair, get on with it. At the end of the read make your customers WANT the next edition. You produce a mag not a soap opera!!!!!!! Chaz.
Blatman Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Correction for Blatman….. I didn’t suggest “that any other Se7en is a rip off.” My remark was clearly focused on Razer. No it isn't. If it was clear, I wouldn't have mis-understood it. The sentence should have ended "...ripped off by Razer" In the written word, clarity is everything......... Did you actually read the PistonHeads thread to which I referred, in which I explained that what’s already been printed will continue to appear until stocks are exhausted? Nope. It isn't relevant. I may have mis-understood the "couldn't stop" item as couldn't stop internet useage, as opposed to you perhaps meaning couldn't stop publication of a pre-set magazine article/format/advert. You can of course stop internet useage. I wish you would. For my part, I will take no further part in this debate. It's boring, pointless, and a waste of our (no doubt expensive) bandwidth.
chazpowerslide Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Hear hear Blatman and another thing!!!!.......
steppenwolf Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Question for Steppenwolf….. When did your sub expire? It would appear that the last issue I received was the July 2003 issue so I guess it expired in June 2003. No, I haven't. The non-rhetorical question concerns whether the uniqueness of this circumstance and the truthfulness of what’s been said in any way justifies or at least mitigates what you see as my attack? Assuming that the circumstances are as you say they are ( and I have no view on this at all ) then I can understand your extreme annoyance but I don't think that Kit Car magazine is the correct organ for showing your annoyance.
mb893 Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 For my part, I will take no further part in this debate. It's boring, pointless, and a waste of our (no doubt expensive) bandwidth. Hear hear Blatman Third'ed... JC
Mark Stanton Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Mr Tanner. With all your previous legal encounters and comments being published - you have no doubt spent a considerable amount of time and money. But sadly as kit car club, members and owner/builder/drivers - the truth is "we probably don't care much" (possibly a global statement and maybe someone out there does care) about your situation Please accept that for everyones sake. Now ponder on what image your postings and magzine matters are having on newcomers and potential kit car builders It is certainly not one that impresses me Similarly what long term effect could it have on commercial companies that advertise in your magazine. Mr Tanner - I would comment that if you devoted as much time and effort into producing and aiming to achieve the "Best Kit Car Magazine" on the bookshelves as you have exhausted in this boardroom and others + your magazine - You might just entice readers back and increase circulation and advertising revenue The replies you have posted here do not address any matters that are of concern to club members - step aside and go forward and give us and the kit industry the magazine it fully deserves - and then perhaps we may all be able to recommend it to everyone. Mark Stanton (WSCC Club Chairman)
chazpowerslide Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Thank you Mark. Matter now closed (I hope) Chaz.
7SE Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Hands up everyone who has been motivated to go out and buy either of these magazines, after reading this thread...
Mark Stanton Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 Matter now closed (I hope) I ***kin hope so I don't like locking or deleting threads but hope everyone has seen and read enough of all this by now
perksy Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 I agree with Mark Stantons comments. I'm new to the Kit car scene and have bought both Kit car and Which kit. I want to learn and pick-up information that is going to help me hopefully in the future (i've learnt alot already from members on this site, Thanks lads...) There comes a time where you have to 'let it go' and move on and carrying on with 'slagging off' the opposition isn't doing anybody any good. The first time i read Kit car magazine i really wasn't sure what i'd 'walked into'. Only my thoughts, appologies if anybody thinks i'm talking out of my
chumley-warner Posted October 8, 2003 Posted October 8, 2003 I want to learn pick-up information Don't we all.......
