For a throttle cable, I need to get from this accelerator pedal connection

IMG_3460.thumb.JPG.5d2ba1885d3a8afbd37ae3765251b260.JPG

The cable sheathing will need to terminate in either of these brackets

The cable will need to connect onto the Fitech unit somewhere here

Any throttle cable experts on here that can offer guidance on this?

No kind of expert, but FWIW, I’d probably use the bolt holding the return spring attachment plate to the throttle arm as a starting point. Replace the bolt with something you can put a ball onto, then you can put a balljoint style end on the cable there. For the pedal, probably worth getting the welder out and converting that to something similar tbh. Cut the top off, weld a stud or nut to it facing to the side, then, again, attach a balljoint style end to it. Needn’t be anything fancy.

Here you go, evidence. Not a swage but the @Kit Car Electronics method

IMG_3457.JPG

Had to go digging for specialist ac tools at home at lunch and found some small swaging tools you put in the end of the pipe and tap with a hammer , which would have made the pipe ends slightly larger and stop the hose pulling off , in my tool kit . Sods law I was too late, but that should work well what you have done.

Anyone able to recommend a decent throttle cable supplier? @AdamR maybe?

I always use bicycle cables :t-up:

Me too! I didn't say it though as I thought everyone would just think I was a moron. But with the Adamski seal of approval, rock and roll!

I realised I had made an error on the fuel hoses. The ones I used were stamped SAE J30 R6. This grade I should ok for unl added but under the current regulations it is deemed to be unsuitable for fuel injection fuel systems.

The correct hose is SAE J30 R9

So over the last couple of evenings I have changed all of the hoses. I am not convinced it would be picked up at IVA but I was not prepared to take the risk.

So new hoses are done

Always used them in westies for over 20 years and are much better than normal throttle cables.

I háve started working on getting the radiator mounted.

Bottom brackets are done (but I will join them together under the radiator), top ones still to do

Steel acquired, so back on with the radiator mounting.

First job was to join the bottom brackets together under the radiator

Then I sorted out the top mounts. My thinking was to try and keep the outside side areas behind the rad clear. I also intend to mount the air horns on the tube(s).

The fan fits behind the rad with a very tight clearance so I think I will push the bottom of the rad forward a little bit

The mounts are really nice and solid but the rad can flex on the bottom rubbers and top bobbins, so I feel it's a good solution.

Everything needs a tidy and trim up. Then a clean and spraying job to follow

I got the fan mounts sorted this afternoon and then wired the fan up to a battery for a quick test. It's nice and powerful

Everything is dismantled again now ready for paint

A coat of black last night and another this morning meant that I could now reassemble the new brackets, radiator and fan.

You had better watch that fan Gary. You could end up with small children stuck to the front of the car!!

Keep up the good work.
