If people are confused by the Covid rules I wonder how they get around in a car without causing havoc?

They rely on others getting out of their way!

The problem there is that in the west, the harder you work, the less you get paid and the lower your chance of affording private healthcare, whilst those who ride on the backs of the hard working folk, get paid 2 or 3 times more. It's Darwinism twisted around backwards. If the strongest/fittest don't survive, then no matter how much money you have, you'll eventually fall.

Strictly, it’s fittest to survive in the conditions that prevail, it never said anything about fair, just or anything else.

I dont go for the confusing rules argument either.  Its just an excuse to not comply.  Those who want to comply understand the intent of the rules.

Much as I'd also like a Thailand approach we have to accept whats actually achievable before considering as an option. Its probably not achievable in the UK. China also appears to have eradicated the virus. Id be sceptical of any claims from there.

Exactly. The entire tone of the media seems to be people complaining about 'having stuff done to them'.  Do they really think any government would choose to be doing this?? I'm genuinely impressed that the entire cabinet hasn't just done a runner.

Just because the rules allowed folk to go out didn't mean they had to. That said, I cannot help but think the 'eat out to help out' was at best an ill conceived attempt to actually help, at worst, a cynical attempt at getting closer to herd immunity. I'll go with an ill conceived attempt to help out - I'll conceived because, well, Joe Public.

Chris. I feel it was maybe possibly close to a wish for herd immunity !

And if we hadn't had this rapid rise and prediction for it to get much worse we may have stayed on the same  path.  I dont feel its a surprise for the waves of infection. Hopefully each wave will reduce in height until either inoculation or we somehow become resilient. But I'm not saying either are a certainty. Just glad I'm not having to make the decision.

And lest we forget....there is also mutation to contemplate as well. There were 6 distinct strains back in September with hundreds of variants. So far, none has made it all that different...but it could. It could even become harmless.

And that's another thing, I don't think I will ever be able to walk in a straight line again, I've spent the last 8 months trying to make a safe space between me and ignorant people walking in the opposite direction who refuse to move over, even the slightest amount :bangshead:

What we will see when this is over is a whole lot of research to see what was actually necessary and worked and what wasn't. The reason is that if we look at this in the cold light of day how many more of these virus will we have to deal with, natural or man made as the world get smaller and travel easier to far flung regions.

The wearing of masks and a certain amount of distance especially out doors may not be found to be effective and again the advice is silly. Wear a mask, unless you are a child under 16 or you have a medical exemption because those people cannot pass on the virus? It is this sort of thing that casts confusion with the public, if it is needed everyone wears one it is not that hard really is it?

On top of that when you have celebrity dimwits claiming this is a hoax or an attempt to control us by Bill Gates or caused by 5G using social media to great affect the hard of thinking swallow the rantings of these idiots as having some validity.

I agree with Paul walking is now even more difficult, you have people who literally dive off the footpath to avoid you and others who do not even try to make any space.

We need the vaccine and I for one will happily take it and accept that no vaccine is 100% safe, but for us oldies dying isn't safe either.

Its all Boris' fault ............ at one of the first announcements back in March on lockdown one, he asked that common-sense be used by the British people 😉🤣 the writing was on the wall then and it was doomed to fail, when we have so many that rely on Facetwitgram as their source of news and moral guidance.🤪

Wear a mask and keep 2m away. The end.😷

25 oct 2020  https://www.thenational.scot/news/18821013.uk-government-rejects-demands-sack-dido-harding-nhs-test-trace-chief/  "senior Tory backbencher Sir Bernard Jenkin said Harding should be given a "well-earned break" so she and others could "reflect on the lessons learned so far" and that a senior military figure should be appointed in her place".

PM Boris yesterday in Commons 'hopeful people do (covid) isolate when required' .

BBC interviewer asked an MP yesterday.. surely a rule (covid self-isolate) without enforcement is merely a suggestion?

£1000 fine for not self-isolating yet with only 18% doing so where are the thousands of fines?

01 Nov 2020  https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/cop-probe-shamed-scots-covid-22938117  "Cops continue probe into shamed Covidiot MP Margaret Ferrier"  Met Police passed case to Police Scotland 15 oct 2020 and still under investigation and no mention yet of Commons procedures against MP.

02 nov 2020 https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/greater-manchester-mp-joins-tory-19205958

"Greater Manchester MP (Sir Graham Brady) joins Tory revolt over new lockdown saying measures would be "denounced as a form of evil in any totalitarian country". “We even have the Government telling people who they are allowed to sleep with or not depending on whether they are deemed to be in an established relationship or not".  (No legal definition of established relationship).

03 nov 2020  https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-liverpool-to-become-first-city-to-offer-regular-tests-to-all-as-part-of-new-trial-12122219  "Coronavirus: Entire population of Liverpool to be regularly offered COVID-19 tests under pilot scheme"

Potential problem highlighted by Jon Deeks, Biostatistics Professor at Birmingham Uni. on Sky today stating there is no data on the accuracy of these rapid tests recognising presymptomatic or asymptomatic cases. (No accuracy comparison done against established PCR tests).

Anyone recall the HM Gov. Cold War leaflet about imminent nuclear obliteration with helpful hints like 'if caught in the open during an explosion dive in a ditch' or 'please nametag your Government provided body bags in case someone in your household dies of radiation exposure' ?

Things will improve in time with or without Government help.

Got to say, I'm getting pretty tired of abusing this particular deceased equine. I'm out.

(eta. This isn’t aimed at anyone by the way, just how I’m feeling about the whole topic)
