How many of you noticed the speed camera van parked behind the big motorway sign , as you exited the car-parks from the Autosport show.

I'm not sure their speed camera vans... I think they are using the Automatic Number Recognition system to check for stolen cars, tax, etc.

They have been around and about in Peterborough for a while and are *always* accompained by 1 or 2 marked cars further up the road for pulling people up with.

(waits to be corrected)

Are we still on the subject of speeding ?

As I've been done three times all motorways, M6-88mph

plain plod car, M18-93mph plain plod car and M4-87mph

mobile camera on bridge.

I have just been notified of an intention to prosecute 38 days

after the alleged offence, has anyone had experience of challenging them as they have not issued within 14 days as it

states they should in the Road Traffic Act.

All comments will be gratefully received.

Here under 'Avoid that Ticket' it says

If you were caught on a Camera.

The police MUST send you a notice of intended prosecution within 14 days.  If they do not, the case is a nonstarter.

However, I believe the relevant date may well be the date on the NIP, not the date it arrived, although I'll stand to be corrected.......

Thanks Stuart thats what I thought and to Blatman the NIP states that the alleged offence was 5/12/03 and is dated by them 8/01/04, it looks like no contest, but I will let you know.

Blatters is right.

They have to issue it within 14 days,so saying it was lost in the post, you were on holiday on the moon etc wont work.ie your goosed.

You can ask for advanced disclosure, ie ask for the picture to be sent to you, or a copy of the bobbys statement if it wasnt a camera, but this is really only delaying the inevitable. You can always elect to be dealt with by a court but they will only sting you for costs on top of the fine if your convicted.............which you will be.:blues:
