Ah OK. Apologies to the OP.

Always thought they were like ATBs from the outside.

So its quite hard to tell from the pic if its a LSD then.

Everyday is a school day as they say.

Looking at the photo I think it is an LSD as there is what looks like a spacer before the crown wheel and the crown wheel itself is thicker due to the LSD sits slightly off-centre with unequal shaft/flanges.

Age old way to tell is turn the shaft.

But the crownwheel code is surely not an LSD  - unless the whole thing is a rebuild of various bits ..... and then that gunk silicone sealant on the cover plate surfaces and the "do not open or invalidates bit....."

It's clearly been tampered / tinkered with (or any other word that may suitable) - if you don't want to ship it with oil in it for "postage reasons" then why pack it with thick black grease ? - was this mentioned in the advert ?

I'd be looking to return it

Has the O/P tried turning one side one way and the other side the other?

They say it's to stop it rusting without any oil in it as the units can be stored for a while

Nope, it's been parcelled up and is being sent back. Zero confidence in that unit. I'd rather pay more and get a raceline recon / a quaife

what ratio you after

what ratio you after

Got a 3.92 in there right now, wouldn't mind staying the same or dropping into the high 4's With a Scorpio diff. Either way, I think the only way to get what I want is quaife atb

So if it was packed with grease to stop it rusting when in storage, why did they send it to you like that and tell you not to open it...

How do they expect it to be usable if they do that!Hope you get it sorted mate.

Cheers,

Dave

The reply I got was "it's clear you know nothing about diffs" which is fine, they are entitled to their opinion. I got a refund and its on its way back to them this week

Perhaps name them to save anyone else buying it?

So did it say "packed with grease flush and fill with oil before using"?

Sounds iffy glad you sent it back!
