  5. You forgot to list accountants. At least you can't blame them for Apple's Irish problems There's a nice little café over the road from the local pharmacist, who seems to have a problem every time the missus and I go for our drugs, but we have a good lunch whilst we're waiting. God alone knows what they get wrong with the hard stuff. I hope the second one's gone down well

  11. Results, I know it's a dirty word but somebody has to say it. They have now been published for Curborough and Loton. Somebody also said it was a bit wet at both events but it was lovely and sunny in Essex, I must be very righteous that's all I can say Anyway, the scores on the doors are as follows: Curborough (Expert only) Loton (Sat) & Novice Loton (Sun) & Novice Tiggs the man

  12. Enjoy your drink Scott and toast to the Karma which will eventually get the Pharmacist. Who would have been far better to act mortified and apologised immediately to you. Unfortunately his insurance company had probably told him under no circumstances to admit liability

  13. Sorry to read of your problems Scott and as a fellow asthmatic I empathize. One of my favourite things is breathing. I now always carry my inhalers with me everywhere as was caught out once before. I too have been given the wrong prescription in the past but at least in our cases the medicine was for us and not another patient. Having Googled 'pharmacy wrong prescription kills' and 'suing pharmacy for wrong prescription' I was surprised at the amount of material traced. If I was ever stopped and asked to blow in a breathalyser I probably would struggle to provide enough puff but at least if I can show my inhalers then the police would know I wasn't faking. Enjoy your drink.

  14. Watched it last evening. Very entertaining and from a time when everything was far more amateur and accessible. Okay, they were professionals but there was little of the glitz that surrounds racing now. Mind you they were all bonkers!

  16. The guy on the next stand to ours owns a Dellow. It's 50 years old, in original and unrestored condition, and he has owned it for 35 years. John Vickers walked up to him and offered him £50 for it. "That's £5 more than I paid for it" The Gold Cup is an exceptional event, the cars on the track and the cars on the club stands lay testament to our motorsport and motoring history, and to its future. Thank you all for your support, see you all next year. John.

  17. It was good to see that whoever chose the position of the WSCC pitch is fully aware of the needs of the aging population of some of the club members Thank you to John and Jeff for organising for WSCC to display at this fantastic event. I was glad to see that Nico's hazard warning lights work and that he has no bad earths on his car. Moving quickly on, ahem, I found some nice step ladders hiding at the back of the gazebo which meant I could get some pictures of all 22 Westfield's that attended today, with some help from the good husband and part-time ladder man. Lovely to see you all. Poseurs as well as car builders I couldn't quite get all 22 cars in so I went to the naughty corner and photographed these 2 lurking at the back I got some practice in with my camera, this track is a fair bit faster than Curborough was, I became an expert at photographing back wheels. Great day, put us down for the same next year.

  19. I shall watch that with interest because Mrs Clapham Omnibus passenger was a bike fan before I met her and introduced her to the prospect of a Lotus Seven one day! She used to pillion on a Royal Enfield Constellation over to the Cellars in Windsor as a sixteen year old! Soon put a stop to that! Luckily her mother wasn't too keen on the biker boyfriend anyway...

  20. Yes Geoff it is a great film, it was one of the popular films we used to watch on our motorcycle club film nights back in the seventies. It was a current film then and it brings back a lot of memories of our escapades as I was a motorcycle racer back then!

  21. Tel's Tales 070/16 Curborough Figure of 8 27th Aug 2016 With a late entry for Pete Goulding in his Mygale FF single seater there were 6 of us compared to last year's 8. This ws probably due to the clash with the Loton hillclimb weekend and LDMC's Harewood event on Sunday. In the end it was a disappointing/frustrating day mainly due to the number of cars and the weather resulting in only 1 timed run for most of us. There were actually 80 entries with thousands of Porsche cars and Cateringvans. P1 was mostly uneventful but did take nearly 2hrs 30mins and this prompted the BMMC orgainers to run nonstop with no lunch break in an attempt to get the 2 practice and 2 timed runs in. John Loudon seemed to have a lack of power exiting Fradley hairpin and my Dash2 display was going bonkers with intermittent faults which need tracing...my least favourite job. For T1, which started around 1400hrs, the track was still not warm after the early morning rain so most of us went for a banker run rather than flat out. Towards the end of these runs there was a big downpour which was really “game over” and we all put our cars in our trailers. Unluckily for Steve Everall he had already left the paddock and was stuck in the start line queue getting soaked. He did his run and on his Avon ZZS tyres was about 10secs slower thatn T1 but was quickest in his class on the day in the wet but not in the dry!. It was good to have quite a few visitors during the day who had braved the bad weather forecast. In the end Pete Goulding was second fastest car just missing out on FTD. Pete was awarded the trophy as fastest “Westfield” driver but the real fastest Westfield on the day was Derek Hodder in his supercharged Honda car beating his mate Gary Bunn.
