Tvr chimaera 500. 112k miles, has good service history with main dealer records for approximately every 5000 miles throughout its life up to 96k miles. Just had a full service including all fluids, filters, full checkover, rear pads, strip and clean brakes, new front tyres and spark plugs. Full mot. The car is registered as cat n, i run a bodyshop and brought it with very light damage on the rear 1/4 and have fully repaired it and painted both sides and the rear end. I have all photos to show this. The paintwork is in excellent condition, as are the wheels. The interior is original and in good condition, shows some wear as to be expected but overall its clean The hood looks to have been replaced recently and is excellent. The chassis was in good condition when i brought it with no protective coatings. Its had the outriggers replaced in the past. I gave it a good clean up and treated it with dinitrol rc 900 and dinitrol black schutz. Under the bonnet is original and does show its age a bit, but its all there working and runs well. The underbonnet heatshielding has just been replaced. Overall all its a clean, tidy and honest car ready to use, it drives really well. A cheap way into a 500 because of the cat marker. £11995. Would take a p/x but only if its at a trade price.1 point

Hello all, just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Russell Brynolf, retired engineer, and I've always wanted to build a kit car for myself. Last August I finally received my kit from Westfield, yes, here in the USA, delivered in a large crate containing many, many boxes! Not the best of assembly instructions, and several parts missing, but, overcome those issues and I'm proud to say I finished the build yesterday!! Pictures attached. Next is to get it inspected and registered. To achieve this in Michigan the car is required to have bumpers front and rear at 14-22" from the ground. They will look a little stupid but that the only way to complete the inspection. Engine still runs a little lumpy, but otherwise drives great. let me know any comments or suggestions. Ta.1 point

Hi All I am based in Peterborough and just bought a 2019 FW special edition and looking for local enthusiasts. Hoping to see if there is a meet in the Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire or Northamptonshire areas. Also wondering if there are any Westfield specialist garages for servicing and (hopefully not repairs) but I am sure there will be. I certainly fit into the category of being able to just about rustle enough time to clean and drive but not a lot else, hence why I bought as new as possible. Any suggestions of servicing specialist would be great. Looking forward to the journey ahead! All the best1 point

Absolutely right ^^^^ A rear end damage as your photo could have involved more on your Westie than first seen. The only way to check is to remove bodywork to see. Please DONT until it has passed the insurance assessment. They may send an engineer out. If it looks like it has had partial removal of parts it may give problems down the line. I say this as you mentioned how badly the other vehicle faired! very frustrating and sad. I am sure she will be repaired but don’t rush into it. Andy1 point

Sorry to hear your news however the Captain is correct in making sure there is no damage to the chassis and carefully check the wishbones, rear upright and wheel as if it hit the wheel so hard to do lots of damage to his tin top it might have some hidden, if there is any damage like that it will give a whole differrent approach. Do your research and get all the prices you estimate and leave a contingency as often when you strip things down a bit extra damage is found. Most insurance companies will accept you doing the work yourself on something like this but to get best value make sure you value your time adequately and remember you are being disadvantaged with no car to use whilst you do the work. There is a guy who is based in Newbury , Andy Westgate, who runs Westgate Composites, who could fix all the fiberglass and is highly regarded but as others have said boat companies do have the skills.1 point

I'd be surprised if it could be repaired so well that the repair was undetectable, so if the insurer will pay, then surely a new rear panel is the way to go, but also as has been said, insist on a repairer who has experience of seven style cars, who can (professionally) check the chassis, and then see. If the repairs can be carried out for £4,000. then I cannot imagine the insurers would dream of writing off a 5 year old Westfield as the value of the car would be far far higher than that!1 point

I know it’s easy to do and that you’re anxious to get it back on the road, but please slow down, take a deep breath, think logically and do things in order. Get it checked over (the frame specifically) to see if there’s hidden damage (hope not). Once you’ve done that, you can look at alternatives. To my eyes, that bodywork is repairable by a good body shop, and the wheel arch replaceable (put an ad in Parts Wanted) for a lot less than the cost of new.1 point

Agree with this..also looks like your sides are black so shouldn't be colour match issues and would be far better than repair.. assuming new parts is available1 point

If it’s going through insurance I would push for replacing the whole rear tub. Unlike the ZK bodywork which includes the side panels the FW is a much easier job being only the rear panel. Removing it will also then give you the opportunity to check for any hidden damage at the same time.1 point

So a spreadsheet as promised - @Stuart Davis AO - Devon Cornwall & Somerset's mob have scored the most individual points so far (individual member names for that entry please and same from @Julie Hall - WSCC AO Representative please) and is leading the area challenge by taking a big group to Crapstone, but @Paul Baker - Bristol Bath and Cotswold AO, having visited four different places, is currently leading the individual points challenge: Keep them coming!1 point

Wow, who do you insure with to get that as a courtesy car - you defo didn’t tick “equivalent courtesy car on the policy!” - but seriously hope your insurance is solved quickly 🤞🙏1 point

Forgive me that again about MNR (but with Westfield also ) Finished video from my first without issues trackday training and first time with hard /ish usage od bike engine Part of track line was the same as I was driving Westfield lata year . Looks that on this section time is similar. But Westfield was on racing slick tyres . And I was used to drive Westfield hard. Mnr was on semislicks yokohama a052 (great tyres btw) . Driven careffuly because IT was first time she was working and all new (including me sitting on wrong side of the car ) . Westfield with plate type LSD. front and rear ARB. Mnr open diff no ARBs etc etc Mnr Mnr vs Westfield1 point

That's fantastic that you've been out already, just in time for the beginning of summer. For the first few miles I was listening out for strange noises and odd vibrations. I hope you don't have too many! My fuel gauge still doesn't read above 3/4 full even when full as it needs calibration. It'll never be accurate given the shape of the tank 🙂. Enjoy!1 point

Still sobing . Some tiptop ran into me at roundabout traffic lights today and took out my passenger side wheel arch and made a mess of my fw rear valance boot area. Luckily no damage to chassis or fuel tank but it looks like roll bar mounting has been moved a tad. Reported to insurance company howdens. Question does anyone know a good bodyshop in south west that could do the repairs under an insurance claim. The wheel arch is an easy replace the boot tub more of a challenge I suspect. Anyone had experience of how these jobs pan out.0 points

Yesterday the right ajm design carbon bracket borked down. Only 4 rides had been done before i saw the arches slapping the tyre while driving over potholes. I strongly advice not to buy these brackets, very expensive and poorly made. I fixed the bracket with zipties and superglue, it will have to survive one more ride only. 👀 I will then have them fixed professionally (if possible) or replace them with the old trustworty steel ones.0 points
