  1. Or if it’s for a number of days buy one rather than hire. depreciation on trailers is virtually non-existent so you may find that buying one and then selling again once you get back to Ireland works out cheeper than the cost of hiring.

  2. @joolz the maps and other images are now back. I hope this and a good chat with Rob and the gang on Thu, makes things clearer and we'll look forward to seeing you there.

  3. Whatever you do it will cost you. Option 1 fly to East Midlands and then train to Stamford. Make sure you have RAC recovery and drive it back. If it did breakdown you are covered. It is around 170 miles to Liverpool and three hours and a bit if you stick to Motorways. Option 2 get it transported, a thousand is not far out in truth and easiest. Option 3 hire a trailer drive over collect car and drive back, with ferry costs fuel etc that seems hard work and will you save much? A mate of mine sold the shonkyest locost which had a rover V8 to a guy in greece. He flew over and drove it back with no weather gear or heater in October. Motor bike gear and helmet, he got back fine. Unless the car you are looking at is a shed it should make that journey okay

  5. Heroic first trip! I think it took me two years to travel that many miles in mine. Only in year 3 did I venture onto the motorway, so was pleased to discover that as you say, the SEiGHT cruises quite happily there. (In my defence, there are no motorways in Dorset, so I have to go quite far out of my way to ever reach one.) I'm sure there'll be a convoy of Dorset/Somerset cars up to the summer meet and AGM at Malvern, so join us for that.

  6. Hi @joolz to try answer a few of your queries the pork in a bap evening meal is open to Volunteers, organisers, members and invited guests, if both you guys can do a stint volunteering that's your best option 😎 nobody has to stand outside the marquee! although if its nice weather hopefully we all will be! we do get allocated a certain amount of entry/camping tickets for Friday set up folks firstly, then any remainder distributed to other weekend helpers accordingly. This will happen closer to the event and any volunteers will be notified by email. Anybody entering the show and camping can purchase advance tickets from the show organisers at https://nationalkitcarshow.co.uk/tickets/ or pay at the gate. We invite new members especially to volunteer, it does not matter how much you know about the cars its more important to come along , join in , meet other club members and have a good weekend !

  7. Hi @joolz, we can have a chat about it. Volunteering is quite simple and you don't need any great amount of knowledge πŸ‘

  9. Hi all! Its pub meet time again! After last month's surprise award for Garry, this one will just be a "normal" meet πŸ˜‚ This will be the last one before Malvern so plenty to chat about (cars, convoys, beer, tents, volunteers etc). 7pm at the Clock Warehouse in Shardlow (DE72 2GL). We will be in the upstairs room as normal. Forecast is looking Westfield friendly, so lets get some cars out!! See you there πŸ‘

  10. Just an apology for absence really, some ( but not all) are aware I have mental health issues, well it hit me again and only this last few days/weeks have I begun to engage with the world again ( sounds stupid but that's how it is) I need to be somewhere that I am familiar with again, and here is really were I should belong. So expect more mayhem from me , lots of car changes have happened since I was last on here and I will post those as and when . catch you around folks. Regards Richard.

  11. Thanks Stuart means a lot. Yeah been mucking about with the webers etc, had a huge issue trying to get it started again after a 9 month layup, was Ethanol related (as a spoiler) but I will post all that om my build page if I can remember how to navigate around here again, lol. ETA just realised the tax is out tomorrow, wow what a coincidence with me here now - its like someone or something forced me here - spooky stuff.

  14. Indespension have branches across the country including NI and ROI and offer hire. https://indespension.co.uk/trailers/to-hire?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrcKxBhBMEiwAIVF8rCX3G0ajaO1K0-dRWGLHUspLCM6diXN3duiBv0F2CWNSZ6tHVXY1rBoCwsAQAvD_BwE No idea of prices though and whether you can return it to a different branch.

  15. Hi Waz, I understand your concern if it’s not running right. As for the hood don’t expect to to be brilliant, a set of good waterproofs can be more effective at keeping you dry than a roof. I used mine a lot but more so when it was cold to stay warm. In the wet I tended to prefer a full tonneau and a good goretex jacket.

  16. If you have a tow bar worth looking at trailer hire. A Westfield is a nice light load.

  17. I've heard back from the museum and we now have a code that I think can be used to book discounted tickets. BOB4WSCC Any problems, let me know Members get in free of course oh and for the test hill, they normally expect a small donation of Β£5 on the day.... i think they might want to see your driving license and sign a disclaimer etc....

  18. Hi Ian .. I need to re-read it all (there's a lot to take in) but from what i remember it mainly centres around only one of us is a member (since joint memberships now don't exist) .. but only members get fed ? so one of us has to stand outside the enclosure eating their own food? And how do we go about camping if not volunteering. And if we did volunteer we have only had the car 2 months so know next to nothing about the models etc so could only really do say parking directing or similar .. really need to chat with someone
