After several failed attempts I now have tyres. I somehow confused all the local tyre fitting workshops and their suppliers by wanting four tyres fitting to a moped 😀 the wheels were possibly in the worst condition that I could have bought but they were also the cheapest and as I was planning to get them blasted and powdercoated the condition didn’t really matter that much. this is the before and then after. With tyres fitting I could finally get them mounted onto the chassis. And then I wheeled it out into the sunshine for a few photos and the first test drive. after a short test I found one of the front brakes was binding slightly which appeared to be linked to the size of the master cylinder I’d fitted as the pads weren’t retracting back far enough. Initially I’d gone for a 5/8” but have now changed that to a 3/4” bore which now seems to have cured the problem. next job bodywork.

I’m apparently meant to be painting the bedroom this week so that means less time to work on the cars. The postman did however deliver the flexi brake lines today so those have now been fitted. I need to pick up a bottle of brake fluid when I’m next out and then I can bleed the brakes. I seem to be having a nightmare time sorting a set of bike tyres. nowhere I contacted seems to be answering emails or returning phone messages. I’ve finally ordered a set online only to have the fitting cancelled an hour before as they hadn’t been delivered to them in time. I was promised a call back today with a revised fitting date but so far nothing 😡

Thanks @Nick Algar it’s something I note but not observe any more. I’ve got dual nationality but lived here almost 10 years longer than I lived in the States, so it’s difficult for me personally to feel one nationality or the other. I guess that makes me a bit of a mongrel! 😂 The air traffic controllers in the States working today have a unique way of getting their own back. On the 4th of July, they greet the pilots of British Airways flights with “Happy Traitors Day”. 😂

So, ordered yesterday morning, the link pipe arrived at 14.46 today, with parcel tracking via a link on the Westfield Parts site. Great service and good improvements to the process.
