Front uprights assembled. The axles are a kart part I sourced which happened to have the right 17mm diameter for the moped hubs. They just needed a few washers to space them correctly for the callipers. I’d previously stripped the hubs down, removed the seals and flushed out the original grease, this I then replaced with oil to reduce the rolling resistance.4 points

Hi all, a quick intro - I’m Phil R or RickRack from Wolves & after spending the last 30 yrs paying mortgage & 2 kids my dream has now been realised A hankering for a Westfield SEight has burnt within for 30 years and today I finally got to drive one home. I guess this specific car is one that is known to the WSCC? as it is a 1998 factory car - 3.9 - R380 - I understand it was a demo registered as S31GHT and featured in Men & Motors with Rich Hammond & Vinny Buckley Anyway it’s now at home in Wolves and will be out as weather & time permits. Plus I intend to visit Dudley Arms in the next months with the Black Country Area. Thanks to everyone who helped with Insurance questions to get me on the road today. And lastly thanks to the Met Office for advising of heavy rain at 5:00pm today when I caught on the way home at 3:30pm in a monster thunder storm on M6 Toll and whilst the tub resembled a bath tub - my stupid grin didn’t waver - happy days & hope to meet some of you guys soon as I’m sure you will have Q&A’s to guide me along the way. This car was the first ever Westfield I drove more than 20 years ago now, and it was pretty good back then, and it looks like it's had a lot of improvements under your ownership too. As Mighty Mart says you can't beat the sounds of a well sorted crossflow Good Luck with the sale. G.2 points

A couple more hours after work tonight and I got the steering rack cut down to the right length, new threaded ends welded on and then fitted to the car. I then spent a bit of time getting the front camber set and the toe-in to zero. To make this easier I clamped a couple of lengths of steel to the front uprights and then measured off both sides of the chassis till everything was parallel. Final job before I had to stop and cook dinner was to swap out all the plain nuts on the suspension for nyloc’s and tighten them all up.2 points

Sadly life is getting in the way and I just don't have the time to enjoy this car any more. I've owned it for 5 years and was originally bought from another member on here. Email: cinewman@gmail.com Mobile: 07738702481 1992 SE Live axle Narrowbody - 1700cc 711M X-flow with a 4-speed gearbox - £10,000 £8000 I'm well aware that this is a high premium for a 31 year old SE Narrow, however given it's age I suspect that I'll find the car being exported rather than selling within the UK, so I've priced according to the international market To be honest, I won't be heart broken if it doesn't sell though. For the international buyers - The car is still fitted with the same Xflow engine it was registered with in 1992, however it underwent a complete strip down and rebuild in 2020 including a lightened flywheel, new crank, new Kent 244 camshaft, new rods and pistons, new waterpump, new oil pump, complete head rebuild and port/polish etc. Compression approx. 10.8:1 and a full technical breakdown is available that was provided by the machine shop doing the work. I've driven less than 1000 miles since the rebuild. Mileage is currently 16300 miles MOT until 29th April 2024, passed without any advisories this year Good bits New K&N E-3325 air filters fitted in Feb 2019 Carbs rebuilt by Carbcare in April 2020 Fitted with electric fuel pump and electronic ignition in April 2020 Front radiator and fan replaced with Polo rad and shroud in April 2020 - mounting is secure but not pretty New clutch fitted in April 2020 Fitted with Cambridge Motorsport high-torque starter motor Front brakes replaced with new calipers and pads in Apr 2021 Rear drum brakes rebuilt with new pistons and fitting kits in Apr 2021 New front ball joints and steering track rod ends in Jan 2022 Full suspension alignment and corner weighting in February 2022 (technical write-up available) Fitted with rare SE live axle MSA roll bar (original roll bar still available too) Fitted with 205/60R13 wheels with spare wheel available (no spare carrier fitted) Removeable wind deflectors Bad bits It's a 31 year old car and far from show-room condition. Worst parts listed below and more details and photos available to an interested buyer: Slight oil leak in the sump gasket and rear diff, not enough to be flagged on the MOT - I just use a drip pan when parked up Bonnet is carbon wrapped after a garage dropped it and I struggled to find a replacement. It's a reasonable job but not perfect. It would benefit from a proper machine polish Chips on both rear wheel arches Marks in the fibreglass on the rear tub from where the spare wheel was fitted Minor crack in front windscreen - not an MOT fail and has been like that since I bought the car Runs hotter than I'd like in middle of summer when sat in traffic (but never overheated). I have a new high performance 11" SPAL to fit, but never got around to it. Finally pulled my finger out to upgrade the wiring and install the much more powerful SPAL Full wet weather gear included but doesn't fit well with the roll bar. I've added straps so it fits in an emergency, but I wouldn't recommend driving with it fitted For the first time ever, I went for a drive today with the wet weather gear fitted and it was fine. Drummed against my head a little but didn't fly off or disappear anywhere Boot box was cutdown to fit after the roll bar was fitted. It's very ugly, but functional. Thankfully the bootlid covers it and you don't see my hideous handiwork! First picture below, but many more available. Registration is Q987 RDM for anyone that wants to look into the history.1 point

Shouldn’t be a problem for a man who can remove an engine from a Westfield in two minutes…1 point

Spot on mate - sure it will be snapped up. You cannot match a top spec x-flow for noise IMHO and it compliments the 7 style car really well.... A quick x-flow in a narrow is a pretty good match for a lot more powerful machinery I've found.....and had a lot of fun doing it.... Mart.1 point

Finally found a suitable product for the floor. A 3mm double skinned aluminium composite panel, its anodized black on both sides. What's more to like? its cheap! 😂1 point

…and I’ve just noticed the 427 badge on the front wing and the front number plate - 427 RAM. The charges just went from misdemeanour to felony. 🤬1 point

Thanks Gary, I suppose most cars always needs a little fettling & this one does too, but oh that sound as you accelerate out of the bend… 💪🙏🫶🏼👍1 point

Welcome. Good to read you've christened both yourself and the car with the great UK weather!1 point

Bit of assembly done today, got the front wishbones on and the rear axle. Really pleased with how well the home made polybushes are working. I also trial fitted the steering rack so that I could measure and then cut down the steering arms to the right length. A small touch, fitting the chassis plate. Believe it or not this is the first car I’ve designed and built entirely from scratch so it wears the number 01.1 point

Hi I have an SEiW with a 1699cc "all Steel", dry sump Crossflow. It has an OMEX 600 management system with 42mm throttle bodies, a close ratio BGH type 9 g/box and a Quaife LSD. The car is road registered taxed & MOT'ed. I use it for 10 or 12 sprints/hillclimbs each year and I have been awarded "Best Prepared Car" twice by the Midland Speed Championship. I have the various parts to put it back to "road spec" (full screen, "V8" seats, 6.5gal tank, MSA & standard ROB's, boot box etc included in the sale). I will be at Curborough on Sat 24th and Sun 25th June and intend to do two more events in September, if the car isn't sold, after which I will be retiring from competing - reason - I will be 78 in October. I live at Norton, near Evesham, Worcestershire. If interested, I also have a Brian James Minno-Max trailer for sale. Again available after 17th September - my last event being Shelsley. I'm not sure what days I can do or if I'm camping yet. Unfortunately it clashes with my grand daughters 1st birthday (I know, its difficult to believe I'm so old 😂).1 point

No, the taller screen and roll bar usually mean a half hood needed for those that want weather gear. This is a stunning car spec for the money and as Scott said the 4AGE is a superb engine anyway, but in a Westfield it's sublime! It's also one of those combinations in a Westfield that work devastatingly well for road or track, really punching above their weight, and embarrassing much "bigger" spec cars.1 point

Frankly, I’m amazed @bigron still has both hands 5 days in - someone should have snapped his hand off by now. Very little work to have a very good car. The 4Age engine is excellent. Someone will get a bargain.1 point
