Hi all, a quick intro - I’m Phil R or RickRack from Wolves & after spending the last 30 yrs paying mortgage & 2 kids my dream has now been realised A hankering for a Westfield SEight has burnt within for 30 years and today I finally got to drive one home. I guess this specific car is one that is known to the WSCC? as it is a 1998 factory car - 3.9 - R380 - I understand it was a demo registered as S31GHT and featured in Men & Motors with Rich Hammond & Vinny Buckley Anyway it’s now at home in Wolves and will be out as weather & time permits. Plus I intend to visit Dudley Arms in the next months with the Black Country Area. Thanks to everyone who helped with Insurance questions to get me on the road today. And lastly thanks to the Met Office for advising of heavy rain at 5:00pm today when I caught on the way home at 3:30pm in a monster thunder storm on M6 Toll and whilst the tub resembled a bath tub - my stupid grin didn’t waver - happy days & hope to meet some of you guys soon as I’m sure you will have Q&A’s to guide me along the way. A couple more hours after work tonight and I got the steering rack cut down to the right length, new threaded ends welded on and then fitted to the car. I then spent a bit of time getting the front camber set and the toe-in to zero. To make this easier I clamped a couple of lengths of steel to the front uprights and then measured off both sides of the chassis till everything was parallel. Final job before I had to stop and cook dinner was to swap out all the plain nuts on the suspension for nyloc’s and tighten them all up.3 points

Congrats! Getting soaked on the way home is a right of passage for many of us, me included. Got mine from Newmarket, about 100 miles from home. Journey there, dry and warm and clear, forecast good. Halfway back, heavens opened up in front of me. Dived into a petrol station and put the weather gear on. Drove 30 miles, sunshine returned until home. Lesson: The weather service are incompetent or liars. Never trust a forecast - they get less reliable the further away you get from home.3 points

Welcome. Good to read you've christened both yourself and the car with the great UK weather!3 points

This is my Vauxhall C20XE engined Westfield SeiW (wide body with independent rear suspension), which I have owned for 7 years. It is up for sale now as I am just not finding time to use it, with 2 young kids. Perfectly at home on road as it is on track and easy to drive commuting in traffic with a nice easy clutch and well-mapped engine tune (Omex 600 ECU and Jenvey throttle bodies). Comfy heated cabin with carpet and full weather gear (full and half hoods included as well as full doors and wind deflectors). The driver side floor has been dropped for more head room and there are two different sized quick-release steering wheels depending on preference. Fantastic performance on track and quiet enough for most venues. There is a custom made enclosed airbox kit with cone filter that can be swapped to reduce drive-by noise volume, although I prefer the sound of the open air intake so run with this day to day. Comes with a folder full of paperwork going back to the original purchase receipts and print out of a Surrey Rolling Road dyno results, showing 183 Bhp and good air-fuel ratio. Too much history to detail here but I'll happily provide more information on request. Lots more high resolution photos available here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjAJbpi £10,500 East Grinstead, West Sussex - Westfield SEiW - Red, 21000 miles, 1998 Widebody, Independent Rear Suspension. I think that is absolutely fantastic! Even better: the size of the box of Kronenbourg in the picture! 40!!! Now that's proper! (I usually buy 6-packs)1 point

Bit of assembly done today, got the front wishbones on and the rear axle. Really pleased with how well the home made polybushes are working. I also trial fitted the steering rack so that I could measure and then cut down the steering arms to the right length. A small touch, fitting the chassis plate. Believe it or not this is the first car I’ve designed and built entirely from scratch so it wears the number 01.1 point

1995 SeiW in racing green. Built and registered in 1995, bought as a full kit from the factory. Car was in use until 2005, it was then parked up and stored in a dry garage until I bought the car in 2022, from a member of the WSCC. This is my 5th Westfield so I know my way around them pretty well. This car is probably the cleanest I have owned and hasn't been modified in any way since it was built. Wiring, fixings, interior etc are all very very tidy and by the book. Engine is a 1660 Xflow reconditioned by westfield. I bore scoped the engine before it's first start up. The cylinders still have the honing marks from the rebuild. It's running a twin choke downdraught carb (XR2 I believe) Car starts, runs, ticks over like a 90s production car, very smooth, no smoke or nasty noises. Gearbox is a 4 speed and shifts very smoothly. Disc brakes all around. Bodywork is exceptional for the age, there are some small hairline cracks on the bonnet BUT the car comes with a brand new spare bonnet that was bought at the same time as the kit so should be a perfect colour match. There is as you would expect some light scratches to the gel coat but nothing that wouldn’t polish out with some elbow grease. Since buying the car I’ve given the engine a thorough check over, cleaned the carb. Fuel tank and lines have been flushed. Coolant system has been flushed and a new thermostat fitted from Burton. 82 degrees to help with cooler running. New points, new condenser and a Lucas coil. Car comes with a pair of doors. I bought the car with the intention of doing some track days with my son, we’ve since had a change of direction and bought a brand new aerorace westfield with full cage, more suitable to our intended use. To finish the car it needs a full service, new battery, probably safe to say the tyres should be changed. Then it’s ready for an MOT. The car can be test driven on our driveway obviously not on public roads without an MOT. Looking for £5,500 OVNO. You won’t find a cleaner more honest Westfield for the money. If the car doesn’t sell in 2 weeks I’ll remove the ad, complete the service, tyres and MOT and relist at a higher price. I thought selling as a small project would give someone new to Westfield's a cheaper starting option. I can deliver free of charge within 50 miles. Or up to 100 miles if you cover the fuel. As we've done for the last few summers, we'll be moving the regular meet to the Tuesday of the same week. This is so we can take in the excellent Swettenham Arms Classic Car meet. (Subject to weather). For those who want to take the short run over to the Swettenham Arms in a group, we will meet at the Golden Pheasant at 7pm, hopefully getting away before 7.30pm so that we don't miss the early runners and riders at Swettenham. The Swettenham meet typically features a huge range of cars, from vintage, through classic 50's/60's/70's/80's stuff, through Lotus all the way up to current cars, Caterham's, and of course, being this area of Cheshire, more than the occasional Ferrari and Porsche, we even have one chap who sometimes brings his Jaguar XJ220!! I appreciate for some, getting to the Pheasant that early can be tricky, so of course, you can always meet us directly at the Swettenham Arms. https://swettenhamarms.co.uk/ The Swettenham Arms, Swettenham Lane, Congleton, Cheshire, CW12 2LF1 point

Unlikely as we're not even going to Verona ! Though I plan to meet my 3 good friends, who I consider to be Gentlemen at a certain Ice Cream vendor in the peaks on the first day. Based on our previous behaviours overseas, there's probably many reasons we shouldn't be considered Gentlemen 😂 Here's our George Clooney lookalike, AKA Tiffany, appearing to be gentlemanly- Those that know him better, will workout he's trying to get her knocked over by the approaching TinTop so he can nab her purse!0 points
