  2. A cracking weekend heading over to Gairloch Friday evening with enough food to feed an army lol great to meet up with the lads from Englandshire lol, a couple of call offs meant we lost 3 cars from the weekend. Saturday saw cars fuelled , drivers and passengers fed then a fantastic day out with William Merrilees riding shotgun, 244 miles on some lovely roads around the north west of Scotland with 10 kits ,a jag, an mx5 and an Elise , enthusiastic progress was made, and great weather to boot!! Sad to lose a couple of cars to mechanical gremlins ( a non starter after lunch, and a lost gearbox filler plug) lunch was at the Pier cafe in Lairg who were absolutely spot on with us all and the break down. Weather was great with a bit of cloud over the Struie coming back to gairloch with many sporting westy tans now lol

  5. Bit of assembly done today, got the front wishbones on and the rear axle. Really pleased with how well the home made polybushes are working. I also trial fitted the steering rack so that I could measure and then cut down the steering arms to the right length. A small touch, fitting the chassis plate. Believe it or not this is the first car I’ve designed and built entirely from scratch so it wears the number 01.

  10. I’ve been away from competitive motorsports for far too long so for 2023 I’m making my long overdue return. The Westfield was the last car I raced and that was sold 3 years ago. Neither of the single seaters are quite close enough to finished for racing yet so a different plan and car is required for this year. It needs to be cheep and most importantly competitive, racing where there’s no silliness with expensive engines or won by the size of your chequebook. If I’m honest the search was quite brief and having wasted too many evenings in the past watching reruns of the red bull soapbox derby on the TV I had the urge to do something similar so in a moment of madness I’ve signed up and entered the Colchester soapbox rally. Race day is on 17th September so that gives me just 5months to design, build and test a car. https://incolchester.co.uk/soapbox-rally So far I have no team, and only some CAD sketches and a pile of old moped parts. What can possibly go wrong! Wish me luck! Mods: if you think this thread would be better in “Speed series Hillclimbing and racing” feel free to move it 😄

  11. I am changing my motorhome so have my 4 berth Motorhome for sale. This is a 2018 model with tow bar, large through garage, two double beds (one lowers electrically from ceiling). Really good quality, spacious and has Thule awning. Mileage is 18000 and has MOT for about 11 months. It has toilet, shower, oven , hob, large fridge and lots of fancy interior lighting. There is lots more to list about this but if anyone is really interested please contact me for pics etc I would like £65000 £60000 as they are selling at the dealers for around £75000- £80000 at the moment. It will be going on auto trader next week. Burstner are probably one of the best you can buy

  12. Hi all, a quick intro - I’m Phil R or RickRack from Wolves & after spending the last 30 yrs paying mortgage & 2 kids my dream has now been realised A hankering for a Westfield SEight has burnt within for 30 years and today I finally got to drive one home. I guess this specific car is one that is known to the WSCC? as it is a 1998 factory car - 3.9 - R380 - I understand it was a demo registered as S31GHT and featured in Men & Motors with Rich Hammond & Vinny Buckley Anyway it’s now at home in Wolves and will be out as weather & time permits. Plus I intend to visit Dudley Arms in the next months with the Black Country Area. Thanks to everyone who helped with Insurance questions to get me on the road today. And lastly thanks to the Met Office for advising of heavy rain at 5:00pm today when I caught on the way home at 3:30pm in a monster thunder storm on M6 Toll and whilst the tub resembled a bath tub - my stupid grin didn’t waver - happy days & hope to meet some of you guys soon as I’m sure you will have Q&A’s to guide me along the way. Bestest Phil R

  13. This is my Vauxhall C20XE engined Westfield SeiW (wide body with independent rear suspension), which I have owned for 7 years. It is up for sale now as I am just not finding time to use it, with 2 young kids. Perfectly at home on road as it is on track and easy to drive commuting in traffic with a nice easy clutch and well-mapped engine tune (Omex 600 ECU and Jenvey throttle bodies). Comfy heated cabin with carpet and full weather gear (full and half hoods included as well as full doors and wind deflectors). The driver side floor has been dropped for more head room and there are two different sized quick-release steering wheels depending on preference. Fantastic performance on track and quiet enough for most venues. There is a custom made enclosed airbox kit with cone filter that can be swapped to reduce drive-by noise volume, although I prefer the sound of the open air intake so run with this day to day. Comes with a folder full of paperwork going back to the original purchase receipts and print out of a Surrey Rolling Road dyno results, showing 183 Bhp and good air-fuel ratio. Too much history to detail here but I'll happily provide more information on request. Lots more high resolution photos available here: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjAJbpi £10,500 East Grinstead, West Sussex - Westfield SEiW - Red, 21000 miles, 1998 Widebody, Independent Rear Suspension. MOT until 14/06/2024 - Early Coscast Vauxhall C20XE engine with the forged Malhe pistons, stronger rods and bearings and the lighter flywheel and coscast head (head rebuilt in 2021 with new valve stem seals, full gasket set, new hydraulic lifters, cambelt etc and a good clean up in a machine shop) - 183 Bhp (measured at Surrey Rolling Road - see pictures for dyno print-out) - Jenvey Throttle Bodies - OMEX 600 ECU - Interchangeable Pipercross foam air filter and enclosed airbox with K&N cone filter (for reduced noise) - SBD exhaust manifold into custom made Simpsons silencer (static noise measured at 96dB) - BGH Geartech E6 HD Type 9 Gearbox (Ratios: 2.83, 1.81, 1.26, 1.00, 0.87 - perfect for the car) - Helix Autosport Clutch, LSD - Odyssey Extreme PC625 lightweight 12v battery - Protech Shocks - Westfield Aluminium Hubs and Uprights - Westfield Competition Steering Arms - Team Dynamics Motorsport Wheels with Toyo Proxe R1R tyres. - MSA Roll bar - Detachable Rear Arches. - Quick Release Wheel - JK Composite Seats with red piping 5 piece upholstery set (Cobra seats with rollers available as alternative if preferred) - Lowered floor on driver side - Custom faux leather dashboard with billet aluminum switches and warning lights, VDO gauges and clock, adjustable width Brodit phone holder - Sabelt 3" 4-Point Harnesses - Ecliptech Shift-I Shift Lights - Full windscreen - Plumbed in heater with vents to driver on dashboard and to windscreen - Fully enclosed hood - Half hood with bag, can be easily stowed at the bottom of the roll bar - Pair of full doors - Pair of wind deflectors - Long Range Fuel Tank. £10,500

  15. Hi I have an SEiW with a 1699cc "all Steel", dry sump Crossflow. It has an OMEX 600 management system with 42mm throttle bodies, a close ratio BGH type 9 g/box and a Quaife LSD. The car is road registered taxed & MOT'ed. I use it for 10 or 12 sprints/hillclimbs each year and I have been awarded "Best Prepared Car" twice by the Midland Speed Championship. I have the various parts to put it back to "road spec" (full screen, "V8" seats, 6.5gal tank, MSA & standard ROB's, boot box etc included in the sale). I will be at Curborough on Sat 24th and Sun 25th June and intend to do two more events in September, if the car isn't sold, after which I will be retiring from competing - reason - I will be 78 in October. I live at Norton, near Evesham, Worcestershire. If interested, I also have a Brian James Minno-Max trailer for sale. Again available after 17th September - my last event being Shelsley. Regards George Newrick
