Hello all from nr. Glossop (on the Western edge of the Peak District), I feel extremely fortunate to this week realise a dream of 20+ years and finally step in to my own lightweight, having on Wednesday taken ownership of a car that may be familiar to the WSCC; It has a club keyring on each set of keys! I am completely new to performance car ownership so taking it steady but the former 2 owners have been extremely kind with their time and patient with my initial questions. Thanks Graham & Ian, should you read this. I've a lot of learning to do but am excited to have started this journey and will no doubt be actively bothering the forums soon rather than continuing my previous ~10 years of lurking. Cheers, Barry6 points

Not quite on topic, however, I'd just like to say a big thank you to Terry for all he has done, a stalwart and long time supporter of the Speed Series, enjoy your "retirement", you deserve it 👍4 points

This scenario reminds me of my wife's (Natalie) late Grandad. His garden was nowhere near the size of yours but he had a push along cylinder mower and a pair of hand shears for the hedges. I said to him (trying to be helpful) why don't we get you a petrol mower and electric hedge cutter???? He just glared at me and said "The longer I'm out here the less time I'm in there, so dont you dare!" He was referring to Natalie's Nan sat in the house🤣2 points

Installed a defibrillator for the local Scout group a little while ago where my daughters go. They were lucky to be gifted it so the very least I could do was to make a decent post and mounting plate, get it powder coated and sunk in the ground. Once installed I enrolled myself on the defibrillator course and hopefully I'll never need to use it! There was mention of a concrete pad for a bicycle parking area and as they know I have a cement mixer.....You know whats coming next!2 points

speaking generally a newer wide bodied car would command a higher price simply because the size fits more people and they tend to be fitted with more modern engines. pricing of kit cars isn’t dictated by age the same as other cars though as they see relatively low mileage. Instead pricing is driven more by the condition and spec.2 points

Thanks, that’s really helpful. The non availability of body panels is a watch out I guess. Does it being an early model make it more or less desirable, or just different? Most locally built 7 replicas (Frasers etc) run Toyota engines and are more modern in terms of technology, but this looks the best (in the pics) of any I have looked at so far. I guess the answer is to go & drive it & see if (a) I can fit in & (b) I like it!2 points

I’m preparing for a summer euro blat and as two of my tyres may not legally make it there and back I have swapped out my rubber. No side wall damage, never been puncture repaired. They are all 2018 date stamped. 205/50 R15. Directional. Tread depth, 2 have 4.5 across tread, the other 2 are 1.6 to 4.5 and 2 to 4.5 across tread. All four go as a lot, I’m not splitting into pairs. Collection only or buyer sorts courier to collect. Tyres are at CW11 1DX, Sandbach Cheshire. Putting on here before fleebay1 point

Good evening everyone, I thought I'd pop on and say hi as I've been lurking for the last few weeks, viewing different models and trying to learn a thing or two. I came across a post from a way back where someone felt they could be the odd one out as they didn't know much about cars (in the building/maintaining sense) - well that's me in a nutshell. I'm a petrolhead without much mechanical knowledge. My car history involves Type R's when I wasn't burning so many candles, an S2000, a VX220 through to Japanese Z cars (350 & 370) an Audi RS3 and most recently an R35 GTR to name but a few. The latter I sold last November and I am missing having something to have some fun in at the weekends. Whilst the GTR was good fun, it's a big heavy car, so I'm going to the other end of the scale as I miss the wind in my hair that I no longer have. Which lead me to the Westies. It won't be straight away as I like to plan from a way out, but I'm after something that is great fun on B roads and I intend on doing the occasional track day too. The Westfield is right up that alley of course (I've driven Caterham's on pursuit courses in the past but prefer a Westie), so here I am. I'm also heading up to the Three Counties Showground in Malvern in 2 weeks for the National Kit Car Show seeking inspiration. I have a few questions but I'll pop them up separately. All the best, Neil.1 point

It's looking better than favourable! A glorious weekend to get the post-winter hibernation folk out and about just in time too.1 point

Welcome! I think the same could probably be said about more members in here than you might think, when they first joined up. It’s not something to be worried about at all! In fact probably most that grew up with late nineties and onwards cars are probably in a similar position.1 point

Welcome from Lincolnshire!! I learn as I go and there is always help on here from people who know. Having a Westfield and joining the WSCC has really changed my life. Brilliant bunch. Hopefully see you at Malvern but I will not be bringing the Westfield as I’m bringing the wife!1 point

Fingers crossed! Looking at the entry list earlier, there's a few Westies on track 👍1 point

If I can finish getting the car back together tomorrow, (it’s on the home straight now, at least), I might try and join you for this!1 point

Hi there. I live in NZ and am going to look at at a Westfield next week (it's a rare car here!). The car was bought new in Italy but is RHD and was imported to NZ in 2019 by the previous but one owner. There is no record of how old the car actually is. The chassis number is SE585. Is there any way I can trace what year the car is from? Thanks for your help!1 point

Aye, it happened on the EVO Triangle too, then it became a magnet for the Cops, followed by the inevitable speed cameras... And of course we've had the Cat and Fiddle Cops and cameras for years now.1 point

Excellent idea. For me that will involve about 500 miles over a couple of days (Crewkerne > Dartford > Wokingham > Dartford > Crewkerne) but provided the weather is ok I’m up for it 👍1 point
