  3. A map of where Westfield Chesil is located in Bicester… …next to a We Buy Any Car and near a motor factor (Leamoco) and a car body repair centre. Jokes below ⬇️ please.

  4. Hi, For the lucky few with a ticket, we are planning a convoy down from the Midlands to Westfield Chesil on Saturday morning. For simplicity, I am trying to keep the route easy but avoid motorways so we will be using the A5 for most of the journey before turning onto the A43 to Silverstone. As there is no racing on this weekend, we will turn off to drive past the home of F1 and head down the back roads to Bicester (Dadford Road then the A4421). Meeting place 1: 0830 at The Royal Redgate pub (rear car park) CV10 0RY. We will depart at 0845. Meeting place 2: 0945 at the McDonald's/BP near Towcester (NN12 6QT) for a coffee/refuel/toilet break. We will depart at 10am. Arrival at Westfield Chesil at 1030am. If we are coming past you, please feel free to either join us at one of the two stops or wait in the many laybys on the A5 and join the convoy 👍

  6. The good news is the remaining part of my steel order was delivered today so not wanting to waste any time I got the wishbone tubes fitted on the jig. I’m very happy with the fit here and having everything laser cut has saved me a lot of cutting and fettling time and means I get get straight to the welding. The other missing parts were the diagonal braces for the front of the chassis so these were fitted at the same time. after a test fit of the seating position I wasn’t comfortable with the position of the rear tube behind my back. It was limiting how far I could lean back and would limit any options for fitting a fibreglass seat in the future. out came the angle grinder and this was changed to a pair of diagonal braces. That’s all the welding finished now so next task is to paint.

  7. It would be dreadful if someone adjusted his profile to add that catch phrase. Just dreadful. It’s a good job I’m not that sort of person, with a reputation as pure as the driven snow. 😇

  8. Ooooooo! Just found out we’re getting a goodie bag! 😎👍 Seriously though, this is some smart marketing work right here, and I anticipate seeing more of it. Full marks from me 👍

  9. I’d like to join but I’m taking a slightly more direct route from RLS via Banbury. Thanks for letting me know your schedule though, I’ll get there ahead of you lot before you get the chance to snarf all the food! 🤣

  11. Thanks to the long weekend I’ve got the bracing welded to the top of the chassis. Whilst it probably looks a bit OTT for the job it’s also there to mount the steering rack and the upper wishbone mounts as else they’d hang off the edge of the chassis unsupported. With that all done I trial fitted the steering rack and column as I was a bit worried about the angle on the UJ, as it was it seems to work ok which is good news. I’ve also heard back from the laser cutters and they’ve found the missing bits from my order so those should be arriving tomorrow or Wednesday.

  12. Now in it's 8th year! May the 24th is the official National Drive Your Westfield to Work Day, which contrary to the title is actually a week where we encourage you to leave the normal daily driver at home and experience driving the Westfield to your place of work, raising smiles on both your face, and those who join you in the daily drudge. Of course, some of you may no longer frequently travel to a place of work (lucky you!) so like previous years, you can also get creative and get a picture of yourself with their Westfield! A selfie, a picture taken by a member of your family... as long as it is a previously unposted recent picture, everything is submittable! You have the week from the 22nd to the 28th to participate 👍 Have a look at previous years: 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. Sadly I can find nothing for the 1st year, 2016, so you just have to take my word for it

  13. So does the Colin Chapman phase subtracting weight makes you faster apply to these machines or does more weight help downhill speeds?

  19. I'm not driving the westi (it's been unwell and does not have an MOT) but do have the aluminium adjusters on the shoulder straps so it would be easy to detach one to bring along if that helps.

  23. Unfortunately The XL will not fit in a wide bodied Westfield. I have had a customer try. The cars do vary depending upon chassis engine / gearbox configuration but generally a B5 is the widest that will fit the drivers side regards David

  24. A big pile of metal arrived this morning so since it’s my day off it was straight to work assembling the chassis. To appease the neighbours I ordered all the tubes pre-cut to length so there was no cutting or grinding to worry about. Quite quickly the base came together and then very quickly the shape of the frame started to appear. I’d had a jig made to hold the suspension brackets in place so they were centred correctly and all parallel. After half a day it’s almost there but annoyingly I’ve now run out of gas so can’t do any more for a couple of days. the more observant will also notice that the metal for the wishbones is missing. I’ve raised this with the laser cutters as it was ordered and paid for but missing from the delivery.
