First proper run out today and the first time out in mine this year without calling the AA. 10 people in 5 Westfields and Barnsley John in the Jimny, and a pub that was actually open. Good to meet up with @Stuart Smith on his first meeting with us. A run up to the Motorist followed breakfast. We will be going to the Darrington Hotel again, but next month, somewhere different.3 points

I second Dave's fuel lines comment. a few months into ownership I was under there and thought they look crispy. 😁 I had a wiggle and thought "I need to change them" Started the car and the wiggle was the death nail. Fuel on the floor. Replaced them all with nice pipe and clips, not something I had done before but relatively straight forward and the baptism of things I have since attempted having not done so before. Nice car and welcome to the club !1 point

My 2 litre pinto was the same on twin 40s. They don't tend to like being floored at low revs I found. I always just drop down a gear and then floor it1 point

I'd agree, a nicely worded email to the MD/CEO usually works a treat. I had problems a few years ago sourcing a towbar on an Infiniti QX70 (the was car rated to tow 2.2 tonnes but weirdly every towbar in the UK was only rated to 1.8 tonnes 🤷♂️). While the UK dealers were really helpful they couldn't sort the problem... A message to the CEO via LinkedIn and he had the last one in Europe one flown next day from Germany and fitted for free!1 point

This. Take receipts showing you had the ceramic coating done and your service work order showing “do not wash”. If you do not get satisfaction, tell them your next step will be contacting Toyota (GB) Ltd, Great Burgh, Burgh Heath, Surrey KT18 5UX, specifically Mr Agustin Martin, Managing Director by email at agustin.martin@tgb.toyota.co.uk I have found this is usually sufficient but if not, email the MD with full details, including naming the people you encountered at the dealership. They just looooovvvvve getting those emails.1 point

Doesn't matter that you don't have proof of before.. You specifically asked for them not to wash it. They ignored this. Complain to the highest person you can find in the business..nicely but clearly requesting that a solution is found to repair the damaged caused in their work shop.. Sounds like it should be brought back to the standard you require and maybe a new ceramic coating all on them.. You go to a main dealer for customer service and pay a fortune for it.. why should you suffer when you don't get it!1 point

I've been on a fair few and everyone is normally well behaved. Videos that get views and do come up on searches tend to document the bad stuff or they are not that interesting. Also we all can make mistakes and ill hold my hand up couple of times I've thought whoops should not have done that. If you do spot a wrongun give them a wide berth or back off let them past. No biggy. its a great way to experience what your Westfield is all about and makes you a better driver on the road. go for it.1 point

Definaltely not Spax... The sticker is, (assuming they have not come from an ebay seller we turn a blind eye to.) but dampers are not Spax. They look like AVO or GAZ to me. Theres a lot of detail differences such as the knob, and top loop design which stand out as being AVO or GAZ. My bet would be GAZ.1 point

I did my first trackday in the Westie last year at Donington and found the driving to be very considerate. I didn't spot one pass not on a straight and people were giving each other room. You get the odd person not checking their mirrors occasionally, but it's not a race so a bit of patience and they'll generally spot you before the next corner and let you past.1 point

The final job was fitting the fuel system which again was one of those tasks I ended up doing twice. as it was such a short run I from the filter to the pump I’d originally run it all in flexible hose. whist this was probably the cheapest and easiest way to do it, I wasn’t happy with the overall look and I had concerns about using rubber hose next to the driveshaft doughnut should one let go and tear the fuel line. This was the first cheep and easy attempt. And then the expensive way.1 point

Over the Christmas break I found some time between eating turkey to start a few of the smaller jobs. Although MSUK regulations don’t allow me to run with the moveable aerofoil I nevertheless wanted to make a small section that could be used to demonstrate its operation when displaying the car. I’d had sone laser cut profiles made so these were welded up painted and then skinned in aluminium.1 point
