  3. Have just booked on at Snetterton with Javelin for Sunday 27th of November if any other Westfields want to keep me company 😊 I've only done 4 corners of it when sprinting so doing the rest of the track will be a novelty/learning experience!

  4. Insured mine today for the first time. I used a company called Lancaster which gave me discount for being a club member. £158 FC. Which i thought was very reasonable.

  5. Took the small person to her horse riding lesson in the Westfield as it needed a run out, then had a pootle to Ham Hill Country Park and back. She was looking a little blue when we got there, so an improvised face cover was needed! 🤪 It was a day for silly hats and silly jumpers for me 🤣

  7. I shortened the stalk too, and used a piece of ABS to move it rearwards and away from the screen. I'll get a photo tonight.

  10. Time for a double celebration: To my knowledge this is the first LHD car to pass an IVA in the UK! It's probably the highest mileage kit, given it's crossed the Atlantic twice (circa 10,000 miles in total) before IVA too. This started with a kit delivery in April 2014. Very well done @elrik a great achievement and I wish you many miles of happiness in your great car! If you've enjoyed building it, just wait till you start driving it more and getting used to it etc.

  11. I remember once being asked by an insurance company whether my Westfield had been modified from standard. It was a difficult conversation trying to explain to them that with kit cars there is no standard specification to compare to.

  12. There are only a few "named" Westfield models, the majority of kits (whether home built or factory built) are not specific models in the tin top car sense. As Stuart said, the nearest you'll get really is more of a general designation than a proper model. SE - narrow (or original body size), live axle SEi - as above, but with independent rear suspension SEW - wide body, (now the only size option) with live axle SEiW - as above, but with independent rear suspension Further to that, You may see on cars from the last fifteen years or so, FW SEiW or ZK SEiW, (the FW or ZK may be before or after the rest.) These refer to either the later more rounded style FW bodywork, or the traditional style ZK bodywork. To throw confusion into the mix, many owners have sort of invented names for their own cars that never really were in use by the factory, some stick, some don't! Actual factory used model names which meant specific things about the car included: SEiGHT (V8 car with unique chassis to the V8, at the time) Speed Sport, a specific spec Zetec engined car, originaly with tuned Dunnel engine and certain factory options from new. (Normally has an id plaque, but these can get lost over time. Speed Sport Carbon, as above, but with carbon fibre options as standard! Megablade the three factory motorbike engined cars, with Fireblade, Blackbird or Hayabusa engines and gearboxes. Megabird Megabusa Aerorace, a Zetec powered car with race modified chassis Mega S2000, Honda S2000 engined car with unique chassis part derived from the Aerorace chassis. Sport 250, A 2.0 litre Ecoboost engined car used a slightly modified version of the Mega S2000 chassis. There have been most but these you see most.

  13. New carbon fibre dash in. Easy job? Just swap the wires onto the new switches and off you go. NO. 2 wires on 6 terminals, wiper switch working the wrong way (switch on, wipers off. Switch off, wipers on) Side lights on, no headlights. Sidelights off, headlights on. Got everything working by trial and error, put the dash in and the loom was under the hoop. Everything off and loom moved above hoop and plugged back in. Everything working so dash fitted. Start the car, and it won't start. A few choice words, well quite a few really, and I've come in for a coffee. The dash looks good, but not much different to the old one. Everything was working fine so why did I change it? Because that's what we do.
