I've started a discussion amongst the committee re what "we" as a Club can do. One thing I would say though, some of the suggestions would result in massive changes to the Club, pushing us in opposing directions to some of those suggested in the membership thread, so very careful consideration is required. - please, that isn't a cue to begin debate here, there will be time for that, and we will open up a specific thread. I just wanted to update the membership, so that you know we are considering/looking into options, should a buyer not come forward for the factory as is.18 points

Afternoon all, Nick here from TigerRacing, due to unfortunate events it’s with great sadness that Westfield has gone into administration, even though it’s a competitor it’s always sad to see company’s in this industry go under especially a company as big as Westfield. That being said we also understand the great stress owners / builders of westfields will now be under. So here at Tiger we’d like to extend a helping hand to anyone with a Westfield who’s struggling for bits or parts, MOT’s or anything else. We know the fall out from this is going to affect many enthusiasts and we don’t like to see the community struggle. King regards, The Tiger Racing team17 points

I agree Mark and in these early stages I feel it would be beneficial for the WSCC to open communications with the administrator if only to make them aware of our existence at this time but likewise to gain an insight into the direction of things in the future and whether there would be opportunities for the club to acquire certain assets from them if a buyer isn’t found. @Scott Young (Captain Colonial) - Club Secretary @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman you likewise have my number and if you find in the future that there is a need for an archivist within the club I’d be happy to step up and help. To a certain extent but on a much smaller scale I’ve already been through similar when I acquired The rights etc to my JW4 racing cars so know what could be involved in documenting and recording records.9 points

There is very little I can give by way of update at the moment, other than to confirm I've already reached out to Mark Bowen at the insolvency practioners. Already spoken to Jim at Tiger Racing, just trying to reach out to MK at the moment. We will put up a second thread with details of such offers, as and when.6 points

Now spoken to Neil at MK Racing/Kit Car Direct; who was also extremely sympathetic and helpful. I'm going to start putting a separate page together for this. Please note though, it will be a developing thing!5 points

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman @Scott Young (Captain Colonial) - Club Secretary I realise this may be in hand but could one of you email the Tiger Team to express our thanks and start a line of communication? Same for any of the other manufacturers who may have a vested, if somewhat tangential interest in maybe helping with outcomes in this particular industry sector...5 points

Thanks Dave, This is where our club really shines - the reassurance for owners that we have the initiative and expertise in the club to help protect Westfield owners and builders for years to come, no matter what happens to the factory 🙂5 points

Hi all, There us an impromtu charity meet being organised in Balsall Common at the Railway Inn Pub (547 Station Rd, Balsall Common, Coventry CV7 7EF) on Sunday at 12 noon. It has been organised to hopefully put a smile on the face of a Westfield owner (Nik Wadsworth) who has sadly being diagnosed with cancer in recent months and is not currently well enough for chemo. Some of you in the Midlands area may know Nik (he owns a green Megablade), he's a lovely guy and personally made me very welcome when I was starting out in my own Westfield journey. He is also a proper petrolhead, having spent many years helping with Andy Frost's Red Victor dragster team (Red Victor 3 held the world record for the fastest road legal quarter mile) and we want to show him some support at this difficult time. Andy Frost will be there to sign T shirts etc (some may remember him from Top Gear with Red Victor many years ago) and at least one top dragster will be there (Mental Breakdown, a 1700bhp VW Bus!). Please feel free to come along even if you don't know Nik, I know he will really appreciate seeing you and your cars. A few of us will be travelling down from the Derby/Notts/Burton area, so I will arrange a little convoy over the next day or so. Thanks all and have a great weekend 👍 Rob3 points

For those members active across the social media platforms, please don’t hesitate to pass on/post the link I gave previously, and repeat below. https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/148068-westfield-administration-help-for-members/#comment-1565709 While as a club we may have a duty to look after our own members in this troublesome time, we won’t turn our backs on any Westfield owner, new or old either. It’s why I’ve put it in the reachable by all, Start Line, then it’s right at the top of the forum. If you are a business, (or one of our own traders already), and want to reach out and offer support, please let me know. I can either post on your behalf in the thread above, or we you can post directly. Please pass this on. Forget brands, we’re all enthusiasts in the end, and now is the time we need to reach out and look after each other.3 points

We will endeavour to keep a list going here, of potential parts suppliers for none-Westfield specific parts. - this one will take longer to pull together, so please bear with us on this. Omex ecu’s and looms, Tornado Systems Ltd. @LiamMc https://www.facebook.com/tornadosystems3 points

Project AP Racing Master cylinder starts this weekend, Caterham master cylinder has arrived and hope the fit is not too difficult with the brake pipe, no concerns with the front pipe but the short rear pipe may be an issue and needs a slight tweak. Hopefully all goes well and bleeding the brakes again gives no issue.3 points

This is incredible that companies that could easily be classed as competitors are so willing to assist in anyway possible as opposed to saying "tough, don't care". Just goes to show that we really are part of a small but unique group of enthusiasts keen to help others out! Shame the rest of the world wasn't the same🤔 I take my hat of to you @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairmanand the others involved in the background rallying around. Amazing work👍2 points

Great result, much better brake pedal without the soft pedal feel at the start of the travel. Wish my o/s brake disk was better as it still vibrates.2 points

I've only been building for 8 months but am lucky that I have all my parts (I think!). I'm particularly sorry for Ian, Daniel and Tom who have all been very helpful already, and also Judy in the office who was great when I was arranging delivery. Very sad times.2 points

Just a thought: Sure there are many builders out there with uncompleted projects and parts still required. As many of the parts are supplied by third party companies, could a list of these be drawn up with contact telephone numbers and put on a locked thread for members to contact and obtain what they need. Its quite possible a number of these suppliers are on the creditors lists and would welcome the business to recoup monies and keep going themselves. As far as I am aware all parts were outsourced with nothing made in house. Sorry if this gives the Comm an initial headache, however, with the extensive knowledge the club has surely this is time to pull together for all our new builders, if everyone compiled a list and emailed it over for editing and posting. Thanks2 points

Yes, I had a look earlier and half expected some cynical posts from the membership, but I was heartened to see that, as you said Mighty Mart, the majority of comments were sympathetic and very friendly to the Westfield marque. It did occur to me that, dependent on how much the current situation in the world adversely affected Westfield and how much was born within the firm, Caterham could well be feeling the very same cold wind. I hope not as the desire to own a Lotus Super Seven in the 1960s was what eventually brought me here and into the Westfield fold.2 points

I'm looking forward to it too (but Westy not quite ready yet). Also, I no longer need to drop off the starter motor for @daveclow as it has been couriered, so @AndrewBClarke you'll no longer have a weight penalty on the way home 😀.2 points

Sympathies to those innocent bystanders who find themselves unemployed through no fault of their own. I hope they are able to find alternative employment quickly. As for unique parts, to my mind bodywork is relatively easy. For me I think the only other unique part that springs to mind and that might be a struggle to replicate are the rear uprights. Do we know who cast them? I think pretty much everything else on the car can be found elsewhere.2 points
-
totally agree and certainly if a viable buyer can’t be found then it would be good for the club to investigate this. the most valuable resource would be factory records and engineering drawings and many clubs have an archivist on their committee for such responsibilities. To a lesser extent tooling like wishbone jigs and casting patterns but with drawings these could always be reproduced.2 points
-
I was also thinking that and if things go badly in the end and we all hope they don’t, that would be one of several valid and serious propositions for the club to consider acquiring. It’s early days, but ideas are always good for being prepared.2 points
-
IMO this is where the club could potentially step up to help and also strengthen our own future. I’m also a member of the Hillman imp club and they have a vibrant business through the club membership supplying spares and also remanufacturing obsolete parts to keep existing cars on the road. There’s not much of a Westfield that is unique and those parts that are can with a little effort and resource be copied and remade.2 points

To all Westfield owners, regardless of whether you're a member of the WSCC or not. By now, many of you will be aware of the sad news, Westfield Sports Cars Ltd is indeed in administration. Westfield Sports Cars Ltd. (WSC Ltd) For discussions concerning this, it's implications etc please see the thread below. https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/148054-westfield-sports-cars-ltd-in-administration-090622/ This thread is here to help support owners and our members. First off, if you have paid money to WSC Ltd, but not yet received goods, please contact MB Insolvency, (Mark Bowen) to ensure you are registered as a creditor. information@mb-i.co.uk https://www.mb-i.co.uk/ MB Insolvency 11 Roman Way Berry Hill Droitwich Spa Worcestershire WR9 9AJ 01905 776771 Contact your bank or credit card company, depending how you paid and advise them of what has happened, they may be able to raise claims to get some/all your money back. Secondly, if, you have a vehicle or major parts there of fully owned by you all ready, currently at the factory for work to be done on it, whether repairs, upgrades or general service work, you must contact MB I immediately with the details. Or risk it getting lost in with stock etc.1 point

One other point, at this stage 99.9% of us do not know either the full reasons nor time scale of events, so speculation on the whys and wherefores can be misleading to say the least. Ive spoken to a lot of people in the industry today, at various distances from the factory, relationship wise. Most seem genuine shocked by this weeks events and while the cash flow ebb and flow of companies like Westfield is oft discussed, as it has been over many, many years on here, too. The feeling is that this is something er bigger and outside the normal scope. For those not sure what the nature of administration is, or what it might entail, one of the industry links recommended this page to our readers. https://www.thegazette.co.uk/insolvency/content/1040381 point

AP Racing master Cylinder In not a difficult job and all done with brakes bled in 2hrs. The longer boss on the m/c was not a problem but as it’s deeper the brake pipe union screw has gone in all the way just as the pipe has bottomed out. Looks ok but would have liked to see some thread left. Will need to check any leakage after some heavy breaking. going for a test drive now to see if it feels any different. I hope so after £377.1 point

Would love to support this but have to run son no.2 and his mate to the Download Fest at Donnington Park on Sunday morning so depends what time I get back1 point

The more fervently active the club members are in the eyes of the administrators, the more they may realise that there is a very lively and enthusiastic membership out there, and therefore business to be had for the company if a buyer can be found. Conversely, a torpid and apathetic club membership would suggest the business is in the doldrums anyway. So, to paraphrase the desk sergeant from Hill Street Blues: "Let's be fanatical out there!"1 point

This is really sad news for both the staff and wider community. They were always a pleasure to deal with. Ian Galloway was always genuinely helpful and I welcomed his advice.1 point

I've sent mine in too. don't waste anymore of your hard earned money posting it out. You can throw it at me when you next see me. I hope they were made in the Potteries 😉 It's very kind of your to promote the club using your own funds this way! It's great to see such a relatively new member to our club, support us in this way and is clearly a measure of how quickly you've seen what a great club it is and you want to give back etc. Keep up the great work!1 point

Very sad news and sympathies to anyone impacted whether supplier, employee or customer. I think we all know that for many reasons sadly the kit car business has been in decline for some years and it’s not a business worth investing in for the medium long term. Ford barely offer crate engines now as an example. How long will Iva continue with the tiny numbers being tested and a weaker lobbying voice. I see it being bought even just for spare parts supply but sadly I am not sure a massively viable business to invest in beyond being a lifestyle business for someone.1 point

The whole business world is littered with pheonix companies who have little if no morels. The first action must be to be hard hearted and keep contact with the administrator to do the vulture bit and be ready for any morsels that may be available. It would be good for the club to appoint a voluntary representative who has the time and audacity to push the administrator as they are not out for the best result for the brand just an easy return.1 point

Having just completed my build at the end of last year I’m gutted by this news. Some great people at the factory and they were a massive help to me getting through the IVA. Hope they all manage to move on to something somehow.1 point

Ironically, Scott, it could enhance the club's viability because the sole source of knowledge will rest with the Club.1 point

I'm sad to see this and wish all the best to all the people involved, employees, suppliers, customers, and those around them who also get impacted by something like this. For those waiting for parts, there are a number of suppliers who can help and without the threat of litigation might be more willing to speak up. This is if the worst happens but hopefully a buyer will be found.1 point
