  2. This is a bit belt and braces but just in case anyone might be unaware of our relationship with the factory, the WSCC are entirely separate from and in no way a part of WSC Ltd, so there is no need for any concern about the club’s short or long-term future.

  3. IMO this is where the club could potentially step up to help and also strengthen our own future. I’m also a member of the Hillman imp club and they have a vibrant business through the club membership supplying spares and also remanufacturing obsolete parts to keep existing cars on the road. There’s not much of a Westfield that is unique and those parts that are can with a little effort and resource be copied and remade.

  4. Ironically, Scott, it could enhance the club's viability because the sole source of knowledge will rest with the Club.

  5. Terribly sad news for all those employees, many of whom have become our friends over the years.

  6. It comes to something when the WSCC is more cash fluid than WSC Ltd - and no, I’m not proposing the club buys WSC Ltd.

  9. I was also thinking that and if things go badly in the end and we all hope they don’t, that would be one of several valid and serious propositions for the club to consider acquiring. It’s early days, but ideas are always good for being prepared.

  12. Westfield probably is, after Caterham, the most established brand of sevenesque kit cars, with owners all around the world. I'm sure all of this won't be lost, someone will take over even in those difficult times, someone have to do that.

  13. I'll be there (got a starter motor to deliver).

  14. Hi all, There us an impromtu charity meet being organised in Balsall Common at the Railway Inn Pub (547 Station Rd, Balsall Common, Coventry CV7 7EF) on Sunday at 12 noon. It has been organised to hopefully put a smile on the face of a Westfield owner (Nik Wadsworth) who has sadly being diagnosed with cancer in recent months and is not currently well enough for chemo. Some of you in the Midlands area may know Nik (he owns a green Megablade), he's a lovely guy and personally made me very welcome when I was starting out in my own Westfield journey. He is also a proper petrolhead, having spent many years helping with Andy Frost's Red Victor dragster team (Red Victor 3 held the world record for the fastest road legal quarter mile) and we want to show him some support at this difficult time. Andy Frost will be there to sign T shirts etc (some may remember him from Top Gear with Red Victor many years ago) and at least one top dragster will be there (Mental Breakdown, a 1700bhp VW Bus!). Please feel free to come along even if you don't know Nik, I know he will really appreciate seeing you and your cars. A few of us will be travelling down from the Derby/Notts/Burton area, so I will arrange a little convoy over the next day or so. Thanks all and have a great weekend 👍 Rob

  15. This is very sad but could actually be good news for the brand, we were discussing about ensuring the membership doesn’t dwindle and if the brand is purchased then maybe we as a group can help re establish the brand with closer links to the factory….

  23. Sympathies to those innocent bystanders who find themselves unemployed through no fault of their own. I hope they are able to find alternative employment quickly. As for unique parts, to my mind bodywork is relatively easy. For me I think the only other unique part that springs to mind and that might be a struggle to replicate are the rear uprights. Do we know who cast them? I think pretty much everything else on the car can be found elsewhere.

  26. Having just completed my build at the end of last year I’m gutted by this news. Some great people at the factory and they were a massive help to me getting through the IVA. Hope they all manage to move on to something somehow.

  27. It's easy to imagine the Chesil and EV 7 springing back up with a bright future - they should - although our typical flavour of Westfield needed some new ideas and investment as we've been discussing elsewhere. Autonomous pods seemed a weird idea for a tiny company to invest in.

  28. My thoughts are also with the employees and those with outstanding items. I guess it is time to wait, to let the dust settle and see what options present themselves. With a history going back 40 years, and a knowledge of how to build our types of kit and complete cars, if there is a commercial future in that aspect of the business, I hope that it would make an opportunity that someone would like to take up.

  32. That will be this Sunday then. Always try to go as they are brilliant. So your replacement starter will be a bit closer but Lincolnshire is a big place. I’m basically in the middle just North of Woodhall. I’ll drop you a note to confirm collection from Billy and then try to arrange for you to visit.

  39. Hi @BillyPee I took the starter motor off tonight and tried bench testing it from the battery, and nothing. It’s lifeless unfortunately (providing of course I did everything correctly) It is indeed a Lucas M35J and looks in pretty decent condition on the outside atleast. Is this the same as the spare you have?
