Yeah we sat in a local pub a while back.... soooo long ago, pre the chinesium covidium BS, I asked the love of my life what she'd do if I ever won the lottery, she said "I'd take half and leave, maybe start an animal sanctuary" Having just had a win I offered "here's £12.50.... feel free...... the family jewels never got over the retaliation.4 points

Sorry I missed it, looks like you had a great day👍 Unfortunately I was up to my armpits in wiring all day.... I've been having a serious headlight malfunction (they didn't work!) since I swapped from the old Venoms. Ask me to whip an engine out or change a cylinder head and I'm happy, hand me a multimeter and I'm a gibbering wreck! I'd got the indicators and DRL's to work but that was probably more luck than judgement 🤪 The builder had made some strange wiring decisions I just couldnt figure out.... fortunately my eldest son is a real whizzkid with electronics, but even he was flummoxed for hours (which made me feel slightly less inadequate!). I made a number of brews, made encouraging noises and pretended I understood at least half of what he was saying! 😂 Anyway, after 6 hours of troubleshooting it's now sorted and I have dipped and main beam again so all is good in the world 👍2 points

January 9th, 2022 Spend: £101.19 New year, time for action. Having had a tiny coolant leak for ages it was time to sort it out. But how the heck do you get the nose cone off when the radiator is part of it? Turns out it relatively easy. Just undo the top 3 screws on the duct and the 3 bolts holding the cone itself in place. Access to the top 2 bolts was a challenge, but with the help of @Nemesis quickly sorted. The number of joins is incredible, so instead of just tightening the jubilee clips, I'm going to replace the lot. January, 13th, 2022 Spend: £4.94 Because the top two bolts are so difficult to access, I wanted to replace them with two Dzus sliding fasteners, just like on my previous Westfield. But because the right hand side is complete blocked by the alternator, a different access method is needed. January 16th, 2022 Spend £0.00 Whilst working in the area, I noticed that my vacuum advance was separated from the distributor, so I found some alternative screws that fitted and refit it. January 17th, 2022 Spend: £14.63 As I had to remove the alternator for access, I discovered that my belts were long past their best, so I replaced them as well January 23rd, 2022 Spend: £82.92 Bought these ages ago, but never got round to fitting them. Until I was "pressured" by @blueassfly as he was after my 7" chrome bowls and anti-rollbar. Didn't take long to fit them and it transforms the front again January 29th, 2022 Spend: £0.00 A while back, @Nemesis was looking for some recommendations on garages that could rewire his car for him after he suffered a melting wiring loom. As a rewire of my own car is something I'd like to do too, I thought it was going to be good to practise on someone else's car first . So today, he came with his trailer and dropped off his car in exchange for mine... See you again in a couple of weeks! Last month: £ 3057.70 This month: £ 203.68 ----------+ Total: £ 3261.381 point

FYI, I am pretty sure that there’s two kinds, early ones that will only accept push in shafts and later ones that will take lobro shafts.1 point

I hope you do not bow out Steve, I feel that the majority of contributions people have made have come from a position that is sincere and it is key to discuss openly all views. As far as I can recall no one in authority has ever said the vaccine will stop you getting the virus, it is exactly the same as the flu vaccine it helps relive the symptoms and the key was to stop the NHS being overwhelmed. Remember many of those now berating Boris, were doing the same for not locking down the country sooner. This was played out so often with the anti vaxers saying if you are vaccinated how does my choice affect you the transmission won't harm you as you are immune, clearly not true. This time too many have been taken in by "experts who have made social media their home" who speculate but as they are some way from the main research banks so do not have a full picture. When someone says I am not taking the vaccine as I have done my own research, how could they. What they mean is they have found others who's views align with theirs on the internet.. We are not equipped to make such a decision but that is their choice. Even in the NHS we have people who have refused to see the truth, that the risk is minimal of harm from the vaccine yet proven to help with reducing severity and hospitalisation this is a bigger worry to me. Would these people decide that they know better over cancer drugs, fertility drugs pain relief than the experts who are qualified, dedicated to giving the best advice. We have never questions drugs like this before and only the actions of Dr Wakefield who published a paper on autism led to some women taking his flawed research as gospel and refused to inoculate their kids. As time goes on we will learn more and there has to be a proper scientific evaluation off all actions taken. Cancelling operations was right when there were people needing the ITU bed but for the many who died as a result of that action, they paid a high price. As I have said all along I am biased and have faith in the big Pharma companies that many abhor to deliver the best they can in what was an unprecedented world wide event. We now need to move on and as a tax payer for the last 47 years I know and am willing to pay a extra to get more money for social care and other NHS spending. For average earners it is 69p a day for the new NI charge which is coming in hardly the end of the earth. We need the economy working, we need the criminals who have ripped off the help schemes brought to book.1 point

At what point did I say any of that? As far as this thread goes I'm out. It's just rearing it's ugly head of only having one possible viewpoint and everything else is rubbish. Just like the mainstream media. Sadly.1 point

Big Andy was excited to bring his new car out to see us, a 2 litre Zetec on Omex throttle bodies, with only 3500 miles on the clock it looks brand new. Today was it's first proper drive out and he tells me that it drives a dream, here is a photo of it last week when he first picked it up. And here is a photo of it today in a proper setting, in the Peak District along with a line of other Westfield's, perfect. We were just waiting for a certain cat to arrive, Bagpuss, but his owner had been busy growing his leg hairs. Here he is, looking good in the sunshine with us all At Quackers we found the sun trap and settled down for a bit of sunbathing, just remind me, it is January right? Luke called over to see us in his tin top and updated us with his winter plans for the V8 that he built. We were missing our regulars @RobH72 and @Glynn Walters and hope to see you guys very soon. With our resident pin up boys, the 2 Billies, at the back we set off in convoy for a run over the high roads to take in the views. Destination Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Longnor We settled down for our Beef or Lamb carvery After a hearty lunch we needed a sugar hit and we were only a few miles from our favourite homemade cake shop, Hulme End. I found some good company in the car park. It was full inside, so we had takeaway and sat out to eat our brownie and scones, good job we are dressed for it. Thanks for the great company folks, it's been rather a good laugh, covering an eclectic mix of topics I must say, so keep it up and hope to see you next week xxxx1 point

So - had a blow out at 60mph on M1. Single axle trailer didn’t misbehave at all, so that’s a myth busted. Only heard excess noise and spotted the blue smoke in the nearside mirror. I decided to try and fit the spare as it was on the nearside, so quickly got out the breaker bar and jack and cracked the 5 studs. Then the “oh crap” moment… Realised the key was in the jacket pocket of the jacket I had on when loading - that was still at home. At this point I’m starting to get twitchy about the volume of very fast traffic just a few feet away and try to break the lock - but no luck So I am now getting very nervous and figure it’s best to slowly drive up the hard shoulder to the next junction ½ a mile away. Not long until I hear big clunk and realise what a complete and utter turnip I’d been because instead of taking a chuffin photo I should have tightened the wheel studs back up. Lucky to only be doing 10mph though and no damage done as the spare saved the hub from taking the weight! Funny how your brain copes with panic and fear - mine must be a very odd brain feeling the need to record proceedings while being scared to death! So now I’m properly in panic mode and find a bigger thing to lever the padlock off - meaning I could fit the spare. BUT could only find 2 out of 5 studs nearby and no way was I going to remove one from the other side as that was just far too life threatening. But this was enough to allow me to gingerly proceed to the next junction where I could at least feel safe. Coincidently, a mate who recently joined the club @Apc1x called me to say he’d just passed me going the other way! He kindly offered to try and find some spare studs via local outlets but alas no luck. It was now up to @Andy - a15cro to rescue me as he recalled having two spares with his trailer and he was not too far behind me. Sure enough he did and so I could continue on to the track day where more of my utter muppetry would unfold 🤣 Hindsight is a wonderful thing and so on reflection I really should have slowly driven on the hard shoulder to safety before attempting to fit the spare on a such a busy stretch - or maybe called the police. It’s far too easy to make mistakes under such stressful circumstances so I’m hoping that others can at least learn from my own stupidity!1 point
