  1. VLC is my go-to for all things audio-visual. There are Android and iOS versions too.

  2. I am not sure where to put this on the forum but I felt it important to share. So last night whilst out in the car taking advantage of the break in the weather. It hit me... I had only finger tightened the front wheel nuts after changing the calliper bleed nipples the night before. This occurred to me whilst doing what can only be described as Millennium Falcon speed. IT WAS QUITE SIMPLY THE MOST SCARY, MUD BUTTON TWITCHING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I came to a stop and luckily after 20 miles of driving they where still finger tight..... lessons learned are as follows. When you get in the car to go for a drive follow this process: 1. ask yourself did I fully complete the last job I did on the car because sometimes enthusiasm gets the better of us. 2. check the fuel tank level visually, calibrating the tank is an art form. 3. check the brake lights work as intended, that pressure switch is not ideal. I WAS LUCKY LAST NIGHT. REALLY LUCKY.

  3. I was once asked to tell the truth in front of some people. I did and it resulted in me getting banned from every Greggs bakers in the UK. The storey is not for here though.

  4. I suggest leaving the wheel nut key or your torque wrench on the driver's seat. Then when you jump in all excited to go, you get a clear reminder!

  5. "Can anyone smell detect a bit too much CO round here?" IVA at Kidderminster. Emissions, Speedo and Noise weren't to their liking. Apart from that, all good.

  9. There are loads of free video format changing software's out there, except most of them come with loads of bloatware that you can not choose to not load. I tend to uninstall those once I am done with a conversion. But VLC here also, although never worked with 4K files with it.

  12. Being myself (pedantic), “by” is more correct in my opinion. A petard is a small bomb used for blowing up gates and walls when breaching fortifications. If you are hoist by your own petard, your own bomb has blown you up. Saying “hoist with your own petard” implies you were lifted up and the petard accompanied you on your unexpected journey. (See my disclaimer under “About Me” for further details.) If I had a pound for every time someone has said that...

  14. And when it is used, it’s commonly used incorrectly, as it is here - the phrase is “hoist by my own petard”, not “hoisted”. I corrected @Blatman on it in here recently as well, which disappointed me as I was sure he’d have done a search first to get it right. He took it well, of course...

  19. Good tip, thanks...., but sometimes I can't remember (old age ) Best tip I've received was 'if you've fitted bolt tighten it, then you don't have to remember' .. it's worked well for me

  21. I just liked looking at spread of members across the world and how many countries Westfields have reached. As for data protection rules being breached, that doesn’t make sense as members can include their location in their profile voluntarily. For a small cost please bring it back.

  23. Day 2 started with a fantastic breakfast, just the thing to soak up the celebrations of England's 4-0 win the night before. There were a few sore heads! We had an impromptu photoshoot by the great waitress who looked after us and just happened to be a professional photographer, thank you Charmagne Haxby Photography, photos will be on here as soon as possible. Straight out of the car park and up Chimney Bank, the steepest road in Britain and over the moors to Thirsk, via Helmsley and Sutton Bank where we said our goodbyes and headed for home. A great weekend, great people, great staff at the hotel and a great tribute to @BugMan. Pity he missed it, he would have loved it.

  27. Made it to the hotel. The weather forecast was horrible, but we didn't meet much rain. Well done to @marcusb @shutty1971 @Rickyboy100 and Gary in the Cobra for braving it. I didn't.

  28. We’ve made it to the hotel, managed to dodge most of the rain, bumped into @Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) At the cafe who joined us for some of the run, so far we’ve had one broken throttle return spring, one flat battery and four nearly flat tyres probably last checked pre lockdown 😁
