Final update for a few weeks. Top service this week from local company Bentleys Blasting who have cleaned up all the brackets and small parts and then zinc plated then again. They were only dropped off on Wednesday, yet all done and delivered back to me two days later. So many of these parts I could have replaced but I wanted to keep as many of the original bits as possible. the engine mounting brackets and gearbox adaptor plate were originally painted but as these are prone to scrapes and impact when fitting I opted to get them cleaned up and plated too.6 points

Damn! Didn’t see this until we passed you! Didn’t realise that was YOU waving at us until we got to Glenshee Ski cafe and the lads said “did you spot the white seven with the clamshells waving at us?” At that point I sussed out who it was. Its 11:21 and we are still at Glenshee.3 points

Don't think I'll have time to fit a new one before the weekend but it won't stop me coming out to play. 👍2 points

You just need to agree to help look after Craig 👍 He's knocking on a bit and wanders off when he gets out of his car.........😏2 points

You're more than welcome to come explore the b roads of North Wales with @CosKev and me when the weather improves, although my Honda rarely gets out of 3rd gear when following Kev.....2 points

I'm mostly all loaded up now, so that, a) I can watch the GP, and b) I wont get wet this evening as it's forecast to hammer down. Safe journey to all travelling up (and down?) this afternoon. 👍2 points

Yes it’s quite mad. The chassis gains all its strength from the triangulation which means that the tubes can be very thin walled. The result is one of the stiffest space frames for its weight. its also worth noting that every chassis prior to this one that was designed by Costin was built with a resin bonded plywood monocoque with only the engine frame made from steel. Notably the Costin Nathan GT that preceded this car and the Protos F2 that was designed in parallel to the Costin Walker were both plywood. both cars share similarities and indeed parts with my car. The Nathan engine frame had very similar triangulation and tube structure as well as sharing suspension bracketry whilst the Protos is styled very similar and shares the same windscreen mouldings.2 points

Ive just acquired a vast Vinyl Album collection, I know theres some rare pieces here, anyone into albums? Id love to have this thread where I post up a couple of covers and se what people know about them, trust me theres some bizarre stuff, Captain Beafheart has almost turned me to drugs 😂 then I listened to some more and realised that's probably why it sounds so psychedelic and (I don't actually have a word!) Im still sitting in my office at 7:20 on a Friday, after cobbling together the Dual turntable, Denon Amp and Tannoy Speakers!1 point

There was a study a while back to do exactly this. Top Gear covered it in their usual style by comparing the perfomance of petrol (or it may have been diesel), cow do-do and (of all things) human do-do as well. If memory serves, it worked but the vehicle was down on power a little bit. No surprise there. My over-riding thought was what does the exhaust smell like? I know CO and CO2 is bad but it must be better than every town centre and associated car park smelling of cow farts...1 point

Morning mate, sounds like a plan! I think we'll be taking the back roads down so we can meet up with you in the Grendon/Sheepy Magna area. I'll have a chat with the lads and sort some timings out 👍1 point

I was watching a film yesterday evening with my 8 yr old Daughter when there was a scene when a record is playing, her comment was 'Jeez...that's a big CD!' 🤣 This is the same girl who asked what's this? I said 'It's a VHS cassette, you watch films on it', clearly not the best description as she picked it up looked at it and said 'its broke, and where is the screen?!' She assumed it was portable! And this is why she thinks I lived in the old fashion days! I'm only 45!!!1 point

Another great day out with friends, I must admit visibility wasn’t the best today but that could have been down to my wipers not working!!! Take care all and see you soon A & B . Oh @AndrewBClarke I forgot to ask ! Did you slide to a halt behind me at the last junction before lunch 🤔 not that I was looking or listening 🤣1 point

I wasn't planning to attend today, due to 2nd Covid Jab at 9:00am at JCB. However as I washed the tin top earlier, the weather was looking like it was drying up and a plan was hatched. Go for the jab in the Westie and go and find my peaky friends after! A great day was had, despite the weather being soggier than planned. Bagpuss achieved a notable milestone today! As always, @Julie Hall - Peak District AO found some great, quiet roads:1 point

The blasting of the chassis revealed far more hidden horrors than I was expecting and in total the list ran to about 60 defects that needed fixing in one way of another. Most of these were cracks, broken welds and some rust holes so it was surprising that they were all hidden below the fresh paint that the previous owner had applied to the chassis only a few years before. the welder Richard so I’m told is more commonly found fixing up the BTCC and GT grids. He had been an absolute artist with the TIG and brazing rods and put in a late evening yesterday to try and finish it but was eventually beaten by the magnitude of issues which exhausted his supply of brazing rods. One more visit will see it finished so I can then finally get it painted.1 point

Well the weather was awful, very wet, with a cold wind blowing through the well ventilated outdoor area, but what a fantastic meeting it was! Thanks for coming out on such a foul evening and great to see you all in person. Oh and a special mention for whoever settled my bar tab, thank you. See you all soon!1 point
