  2. Well we are thread drifting - but all I’ll say on the kit car vs bike debate is I’d rather hit a dry stone wall surrounded by an FIA cage and strapped in with a harness than wearing a set of leathers.

  5. January 9th, 2021 Spend: £0.00 Looking at the results of my spray painting and tears are welling up. It's just the wrong time of season for spray paint; unless you can do it inside in a warm room maybe. Cutting my losses and ordered some black vinyl wrap last week instead. It's too cold in the garage to do this, so am moving into the dining room this weekend January 10th, 2021 Spend: £13.48 Wrapped the panels and am now waiting for a delivery of rubber edging, as I'm not sure if I want to go with a glossy edge or something a little more matte. January 15th, 2021 Spend: £11.40 The edging finally arrived, but it was too small to fit, so went with the glossy edge instead. Then quickly tried it with the roll bar in place to ensure it all fits (just!), but I forgot all about the seatbelt eyebolts, so I have to fiddle a bit to get that fitted on the left hand side underneath the diagonal bar. That's this weekends job 👍 January 16th, 2021 Spend: £12.69 It took 3 attempts and many many profanities before my son pointed out that the roll bar was actually resting on the eyebolt. Doh! Shortened the collar and it is finally on. Have only loosely fitted the rest of the bolts as I ran out of light in the garage (left the flashlights on overnight. Doh!). Tomorrow just tightening everything up and then we can call it a day... January 17th, 2021 Spend: £0.00 Done. Secured the middle section with some heavy duty velcro so there are no fixings on display, but I can still remove the middle section if I need access. January 23rd, 2021 Spend: £0.00 Finished off the wiring for the 3rd brake light and removed the rest of the carpets as I will be changing from blue/grey to black. January 24th, 2021 Spend: £0.00 Continued with stripping out the interior by removing the tunnel top and side panels. The tunnel top is going to be remade in a single piece of aluminium covered with fabric and attached to the top with some poppers. Carpets, fabric and aluminium sheet ordered, along with new gaiters. It's going to look lush! January 31st, 2021 Spend: £11.70 Marked the outline for the tunnel top using the old pieces and then cut it with the tin snips. Perfect fit! Last month: £ 329.37 This month: £ 49.27 ----------+ Total: £ 378.64

  7. Hi all this thread seems to have drifted away from Coy Carp to the HS2. I can’t quite see that the two topics are related, so please keep it on the fish or start a new thread re HS2 , where I am sure there will be lots of views! thanks

  12. As suggested, why charge batteries when you're driving in round in a car with an Alternator on? I assume you've seen this- As others have said, you need to be careful how you charge and discharge such devices. Do you have any details on the gloves? How does the temperature selector work on them? If they last 1.5H hours and the battery is rated at 16.28Wh, it suggests they pull 10.8W on full power, which translates into 1.5A. So throw the batteries and run the gloves direct of the 12V in the car! Hence you need a circuit with an 8V regulator running off a 12V ignition feed that's good for 5A. Try this fella- https://uk.farnell.com/seagate/ip3r18k05/ic-v-reg-5-0v-18k05-to-3-2/dp/1202002?st=voltage regulator 8v 5a It will need a heat sink and mounting in a box etc. You'll need suitable connectors/leads to wire up to your gloves too. I'd suggest they connect to the base of your jacket and run down the sleeves to each glove (Like a toddlers mittens).

  14. It's Long Beach Blue amazing car, was chucking down on collection day and loads of floods on the roads so i've not had a chance to test it properly yet but it's definitely a different driving experience from the Leon Cupra I've had for the last couple of years! The first car I've owned where I've had to consult the manual to find out what the hell some of the settings are!

  16. Looking great! Will you be making any opening for handbrake adjustment, or just popping the whole tunnel cover off?

  17. I liked it. From a distance or in certain light it looks like a completely bog standard old mini, but it will just show the occasional glimpse of something different. Very clever in my view.

  19. All of my experiences have been spot on, always kept informed if parts are delayed. Just had replacement upper wide track wishbone sent out which resolved my issues (under warranty), no fuss just dealt with it! Often get a courtesy call to ensure all is okay also. Thumbs up for me👍
