  1. Who says they are impractical? 3 full bags of essential shopping (may not have been from the closest Supermarket), room for one more and I haven't even used the boot yet. Chilly but dry.

  2. Every time I hear that I take the opportunity to explain that the only thing we have to remember is to wear a mask, keep 6 feet away from people and wash yer 'ands when you get home and/or have some hand sanitiser with you just in case the place you are going isn't providing any. I think people watch and listen to the news and with all the tier this and closed that and whatever, and they think they have to remember it all. The simple stuff (as much as I hate to trot out Govrnment mantra) hands, face, space, is lost in the noise.

  3. Agree Jeff They don't get further than blaming someone else and or have any form of responsibility. We are too soft. All I hear is - its too confusing and I dont understand so I'm going to do what I want. Its just an excuse and confirms the lack of responsibility.

  4. Yesterday we checked out of our hotel in Phuket. At the check out desk there were two pots, one marked sterile pens, one marked used pens, so when you signed anything, you took a 'clean' pen and when you've done you place it in the used pen pot, so avoiding cross contamination, of course there were the usual clear acrylic screens and everyone was wearing masks, if you went to the bar or to one of the restaurants your temperature was checked. At the airport you had to scan in a QR code for track and trace, and had your temp taken. One of the passengers on our flight went a bit OTT with the PPE When we arrived in Pattaya I nipped out to the local corner shop, a 7-11, for a bottle of milk so we could make a brew. I was only going to be in the shop for two minutes, Temp taken, sign in with phone number and scan a QR code, of course all while wearing a mask all the time. Can you imagine all this happening in the UK at the corner shop when all you want is a packet of fags or a bottle of milk? All the hassall getting here was worth it, and we are settled in now for the long haul. Alfresco breakfast anyone?

  7. I know it is easy to say but we should have made wearing a mask compulsory for everyone and stop giving excuses to people to hide behind an exemption. We have a guy who collects goods from us, he claims exemption but is a fit young man so refuses to wear a mask. My staff refuse to let him in the building so we make him stand outside and we take the goods to him. We provide the service on our terms. The companies who employ these security people simply need to say unless you provide a genuine exemption letter form you GP no mask not entry. Our Local M&S do this with no issue but perhaps in others shops there isn't the will to do it because they fear the inevitable arguments. Make an example of a few in court and the problem will decline. Same as the lock down, went out for our walk last night where we saw groups of young people sat in the park together smoking and chatting away. Do their parents not have any control

  9. Hi all you Somerset and Devon devotees! Hope that you all had a great Christmas and New Year and the ole sleigh was laden with parts, tools and other goodies! I was hoping prior to the break that there was a prospect of us being able to get together for a first drive out and the opportunity to meet. Clearly, that won't be possible for a little while with the new lockdown. So, apologies for a bit of a false start - but I guess I have a decent excuse! I will plan to organise something as soon as the restrictions are lifted to a level where we can do so safely. In the meantime, I guess we have time to muck about with the cars, do those jobs that we have been meaning to do and make any tweaks etc. In between extracting one son's car from a hedge, and getting the others car sorted for MOT, (Covid pales into insignificance when compared the the Bio hazard of the what you find inside your student son's Corsa!), I've just fitted some wind deflectors. Thought that it was worth giving them a go! I've not had the chance to test them out as in the midst of changing the steering wheel which needs the boss to be machined / modified a bit - so that's the next job! I see that some areas have organised virtual meets - not sure what you think about this but happy to give it a go if there is some interest? Hope that you all stay safe and well and I do really look forward to being able to meet up for a drive and a beer a bit later in the year! W

  11. They have been owned by me from new. Typically 5-6 weeks lead time from the factory. Will come with cables(including compensating bracket), hoses, cap headed bolts to fasten to uprights and a set of brand new unused (EBC) pads. Handbrake set-up/adjustment instructions will be included too. Β£300 + postage (All items included, would cost >Β£500 new from the factory). https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/suspension-braking/brakes-calipers-discs?product_id=79 https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1057 https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=89&search=brake+cable&description=true https://parts.westfield-sportscars.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=92&search=brake+hoses&description=true Suitable discs are- https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/pagid-brake-disc-104590218 I'm happy to box them up and post at the buyers expense, or you can pay now collect in person from Stoke-on-Trent. These require the golf style rear upright, hence won't fit Sierra or Mazda based kits, unless you've upgraded to the current Westfield Golf style rear upright. As shown below-: the Golf upright doesn't have machined faces on the inside for the lower part to bolt to the wishbones and hence has a rod passing through like this: The sierra style upright looks like this: More details including dimensions here- http://www.hispeccalipers.co.uk//svaultralite.html

  13. First trip out to Caffeine and Machine in Stratford on Saturday which was a decent run out from Bewdley and made a change from the usual drives out West. COVID restrictions in place but they were really well set up to take orders and the shop was open subject to restrictions. Very cool place and will most definitely be going again !

  14. Made the most of a very wet day to go get ECU re-mapped. I thought the 160 mile drive in the pouring rain in the daylight required a lot of concentration this morning - the first 100 miles on the way home in the dark was far harder, the last 60 after the driver's wiper had flown off to go live in a hedge near Stonehenge was hardly any fun at all! My car / hood combo seems great at keeping the falling down rain out but rubbish at stopping the road spray coming up the gap between doors and side walls - resulting in a very wet right arm and liberal use of Tesco bags for life on the way home. Suppose it's my fault for not just borrowing a trailer. πŸ˜€ Full tech info in correct tuning / performance /rolling road forum.
