It's the 1st July and that means it's time to turn your WSCC calendar over and see what we get up to in the Peak District as I am 'driving' well 'steering' Bill's mighty crossflow into a safe position for the breakdown truck to pick it up from. @AndrewBClarke @BillyPee @BugMan @Andy Westwood oh what fun we had! plus it goes to prove that we don't 'Top Gear Style' leave you if you break down, well not immediately anyway 😃5 points

What a memorable day that was. I absolutely love that photo, smiles all around even in adversity! Thanks to everyone who waited with me for the tow truck to arrive, I really did appreciate that. I cannot wait for another Curborough and Peaks day out in the mighty crossflow with you lovely lot sometime soon. 😀3 points

Good to hear from you. Turned calendar over. Made me smile. My car wasn’t behaving that day either with a faulty starter so @Julie Hall - Peak District AOaccompanied me to a petrol station on the way home in case a push start was required. Filled it up with engine running in the end. Dodgy. Looking forward to getting out again. Those cake shops need our support 😀. Suppose I better see family first otherwise there will be complaints...3 points

An email from the organisers:- The last few months have been really difficult for everyone everywhere and, as most of you will be aware, we had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Silverstone Classic last month; all those who had bought tickets have now been contacted regarding next steps and their ticket options. 2021 Dates Looking positively ahead to 2021, we’re pleased to announce that our provisional dates for next year are 30 July – 1 August. As usual, these will remain provisional until the dates for the British Grand Prix are ratified by the FIA (usually at the start of December) but be sure to pop the dates in your diary and we hope that this helps with your planning for now. We hope that you’ll be able to join us next year for our postponed 30th anniversary party as well as a series of other deferred celebrations… plus some brand new ones; it’ll be an incredible event. We’re also looking at the ways in which we can pay a fitting tribute to the inspiring key workers who have supported us all through this very difficult period, too. More on that soon. Tickets for next year’s event will be available in the Autumn.2 points

Not an issue with SB4S supplying parts that they advertise on their website - I have a 1/2 hood and it's excellent. The OP was related to a Storm Cover, they do one for ZK bodywork but not FW and there are lots of FW owners - me included - that would like one that stretches down the bonnet to cover up the two big vents that let water into the scuttle area and fit over the FW rear bodywork.2 points

After the "incident" I did one slow lap to depo, then checked visualy and trying if there are any bends in wishbones or play on wheels etc. Did not find any and was driving to the end of the trackday 30 or 40 laps more (with best lap of the day edit- here it is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYIt2wP3lQY ) Oil sump is ok, no leaks, lower wishbones - not sure if it was before - a little, very little like-a-banana shape but it is maybe 1mm - 1,5mm on the whole lenght of the wishbone arm. Have to check the geometry as it seems visualy that lefT wheel gains more negative camber while right - a little less, and I got impression that car was driving a little right when hands of the steering wheel, but did not measuret, just visualy. Radiators ok. ARB with mountings ok. All wishbone brackets ok . Rack ok. Some scratches and cracks on the nosecone , bu it was not ideal before. Have to figure out some method of quick and easy mounting from the bottom of nosecone... Have to check the rims while tyre changing I was going to do anyway. So, so far I am supprised (positively) of the rigidity of rally design wishbones and all other components and chasis of Westfield 👍 (the marker was plastic , I have heard that sometimeas such markers are filled with water, but not on this track. )2 points

No I didn't build it but have had it for over 11 years and have practically rebuilt it over that time. I like the old fashioned engineering in that I don't need a computer to fettle it. 😀1 point

Funnily enough today I received an update to say it has arrived in the Uk (Heathrow).1 point

Thanks Martyn. I spoke to the Kwik FIt tester and we went through the regs on the phone - he agreed with the Q plate being treated as pre Aug 1975 so i'm taking it back in for a "retest" ..... Thanks all for info1 point

June 2nd, 2020 Spend: £0.00 First (official) drive! Can't believe how nice the weather has been this year whilst we were in total lockdown. Couldn't drive it yesterday as I had to be in London to renew a passport, but I had a little sneaky 40 mile detour around Northamptonshire after work today. It's good to be back! June 13th, 2020 Spend: £0.00 And then the weather turned bad . But this weekend it's been good again, good enough to little trip down to my favourite landmark view. June 14th, 2020 Spend: £18.00 Noticed on a few occasions that when trying to restart the car after filling up at the petrol station it was cranking a little bit longer than when cold, so wanted to put a heat shield in between the exhaust and starter. First modelled a little with CAD (cardboard aided design) until I roughly had a shape to cut out and then modelled it further in place. Don't know yet how efficient it is, we'll see the next time I'll fill up. June 26th, 2020 Spend: £0.00 Modelled and 3D printed an iPhone 8 phone holder over the past days and fitted it today June 28th, 2020 Spend: £0.00 Can't resist taking the Westfield for every little thing, even when the family car would make more sense Last month: £ 9636.76 This month: £ 18.00 ----------+ Total: £ 9654.761 point

Great news. I've ended up booking Blyton for the day after cadwell hopefully everything survives1 point

Cracking day. Nice to finally get out in the car. Took the morning steady on some old r888 that I had on the pre lit. Then in the afternoon cracked out the slicks. My brain can't keep up with all the gear changes round Blyton but that will come with seat time. Got an exhaust bracket to fix up by cadwell but that was the only drama. Good first outing. Happy chappy1 point

Tonight should have been our midsummer night's "Run to the sun" going to the east coast, and heading home late into the setting sun, but due to the lockdown the pub is shut, so instead we visited @BugMan at his home. Steve has been self isolating with his wife and not seen anyone from the club for around 3 months, so a run was arranged. It was supposed to be a small group of around 10 to 12 people, but things escalated with some NWKCOG coming along as part of a run they were organising. 6 of us met at the Swan and Cygnet for the half hour run to Steve's, taking a longer route to avoid speed humps and arriving first to get the pick of the cake made by Dawn. Luckily, not all of the NWKCOG came as there probably wouldn't have been enough room in the street, so 2 Westfields, 2 Tigers and a Grinnal Scorpion joined the 7 Westfields already there. Coffee and cake was consumed, cars and Carona talked about, and I hope everyone, especially Steve had a good time. Again, a big thank you to Dawn for the cake and their understanding neighbour's.1 point

Before they became mega famous we used to frequent Liverpool's Cavern Club and listen to The Beatles "Live" along with most other merseybeaters , Gerry & the Pacemakers , Swinging Bluejeans etc etc . However the Cavern was primarily a Jazz Club where you could get to see and hear Live the finest musicians in the world perform . A young lass who worked in the cloakroom used to get up and sing with the jazz groups , her name, Cilla Black who became quite famous There were other clubs around the city where you could go , mostly free admitance . Of coarse all music was proper live in those magical days . Great entertainment1 point

@aegWho needs 4 Jerry cans!? (or are they just a side affect of running out of fuel numerous times and taking the walk of shame to the fuel station1 point

You can store more fuel in your collection of green cans than your westie main tank😀1 point

Car purchased by a friend of mine. He had it shipped and was just starting to enjoy it. 50 miles in, strange noise from the rear. He asked me to listen to the noise, initially I thought it was just a rear wheel bearing on its way out. He then took it to a well known garage for advice, the garage found, it was the diff breaking up internally Crown wheel & pinion severely worn and starting to break up, He had no paper work to show what had been replaced in the diff in the past or who did the work. Unfortunately its now a full diff / Axle rebuild, Just over £1,000 which will be fully documented with warranty. Not such a great start to enjoying a Westfield .0 points
