  1. Same here @syman84. I had a few really low weeks just anticipating winter, almost back on the meds. However I'm determined to get through winter without them. I have a SAD lamp which I sit in front of while eating breakfast every day. I am filling my days as much as I can. When it's dry out comes the wez for a quick blat ANYWHERE. I dread Christmas, despite having grandchildren I find it excruciatingly painful without my husband. New year is worse! However I am planning ahead for the first time in my life. So far so good. Clocks change tomorrow. That might be a game changer.. I recommend the SAD light, you need it now though. It definitely makes a difference. If I use it after 5 pm I can't sleep because of the effect it has. Also keep warm.. Sounds weird but previously I have let myself get cold both in the house and outside. I get really miserable when I am cold and it stops me doing anything. Easy for me to be upbeat right now, I might feel crap in a week but I'm trying hard to beat depression this winter.

  2. Just tripped over this new series on Youtube today. Ant Anstead building his own "special" basically a replica 1930s Alfa Romeo 158 Grand Prix race car. This isn't like a Wheeler Dealers restoration, he's starting with a donor MG chassis and making it up from there. In fact it's not at all like Wheeler Dealers at all. He also creates a fibreglass body from his own mold, explaining the gel-coat and fibreglassing techniques as he goes. To date there are 5, 30-minute episodes uploaded with more to come over the coming weeks. Here's a link to episode 1

  3. We called in here today to have a nosey, apparently there are 90 cars already there, although we couldn't see them. What we did see though, is a whisky and gin distillery next door, called White Peak Distillery. They have a shop open Tues-Sat, just thinking for xmas pressies, the funny bit is that the Shining Cliff Hostel is next door to the distillery, just in case you get tempted to try before you buy and need to stay over. Distillery tours take place on a Saturday at 11am, costing £12. Did someone mention a motor museum, oops, I seem to have gone off the subject a bit

  6. It’s chucked it down here all day and there’s been flash floods , I’m anticipating wet roads early on and as I’ve no weather gear or half doors that got me thinking.................. ‘As the Manager is at her mums I had plenty of garage time so it was a toss up between making some mudguards to limit the spray ,or disconnect the throttle bodies so my heavy foot didn’t kill me on the way there .... find out what I did tomorrow ( if I make it ). 😱

  10. Just a quick check in. To say keep going everyone, you can get through this. I find that as the the clocks change, it gets darker and the weather is now really bad this has an enormous effect on me. I know this is likely to be SAD (seasonal affective disorder) but I find that not getting time away from the daily gring in the garage(no power) has the double blow.

  12. The big issue is that those opposed to leaving have used every thing to stop any attempt to leave. When he prorogued parliament it was not illegal and had been done many times before, it was found to be unlawful by a court which had never been involved in parliamentary dealings in the past as they have always been outside legal control, but that is something we could all argue on. What is clear now is everytime any government wants to do anything the people want a court could overrule them. I suspect the power of the court will be curbed after this for the benefit of future governments. The deal he has on the table is one which many do not want to accept. Further delay just gives people opportunity to find even more creative ways to block it happening. If there is an open ended time frame what will happen more paralysis? Even the EU can see the stupidity of the games being played now. Corbyn is refusing to accept a GE, one he knows he will lose so instead he wants to get a situation where a no deal is legally blocked so even if they lose they get control of parliament whilst whoever is in power tries to sort out the mess. The EU have therefore said that they will not say how long a delay they can grant until he makes his position known. They want this over as the EU is free falling into recession and uncertainty hence their stance. Even when this is decided we will have many years of further negotiation to deal with everything that comes up and the lawyers will get even richer

  15. Our Essex group meet at Toby Carvery, Runwell rd every 2nd. Sunday of the month at 9am. Some have breakfast there, have a chat discuss our cars at length. Even if the weather is inclement we still turn up in the tin top and dream of the warmer and sunnier weather, so pop along when you can.
