@Julie Hall - Peak District AO next year when your doing a breakfast run, give me a shout. I may be tempted to come up for food Regards Patrick2 points

aha, you will have to wait a little while longer. I am going to pick them up in about half an hour from Cotswold Outdoor, Bakewell, on our way to the curry house. Pictures and opinions will follow as soon as I can, probably tomorrow 👍 Hoping for cold weather on Saturday's run out2 points

Hardly surprising they aren't waving us off considering we're their 2nd biggest net contributor. But I agree they should just get their thumbs out of their ass and get on with it.2 points

Sorry to hear that @Andy Westwood and Sue are not coming, it is good to keep friends that eat larger slices of cake than I do, then I don't look so piggy 😁 Speaking of piggy @AndrewBClarke I will be ordering my first ever Eggy Bread, after having to ask Glen what it actually is first, so the Black Pudding will fit nicely on my plate with that, thank you. (piggy refers to black pudding and not Andrew btw) The eating plan for the day is to fill up on breakfast, then drive until we have made enough room for cake (presuming no-one will want lunch as such) then drop in at a suitable cafe. The route plan has changed about 3 times over the last day but at the moment we will go for the great driving roads around Curbar Gap and Owler Bar before heading West, into the depths of lovliness supplied by the Peak District. The good news is that the weather is still forecast dry.2 points

With reference to the latest proposal... A European Commission spokesperson said on Thursday: "There are... problematic points in the UK's proposal and further work is needed, but that work needs to be done by the UK and not the other way around. "We would remind you that it's the UK leaving the EU and not the EU leaving the UK. Knobhead! (is that expression allowed on here? if not I will promptly find another) It doesn't matter a jot who is leaving who, the two entities are separating, the work on how that happens needed all along to be done by both parties. This has been their approach - obstructive, and extremely irritating, and they have at no point negotiated in good faith, it is clear. Jim2 points

Yep! See you in Matlock Depending on eating plans for the rest of the day, I’ll have a Sir Joseph if you have the black pudding! @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary - you coming? Owe you a breakfast for sorting out my cables!!2 points

No deal (i.e. present us with a clearly unacceptable deal) is just a construct being used by the EU as their best option to keep us in. There never could or would be a permanent or long term no deal - they send us approaching €1billion a day worth of stuff, they send us €1billion a week in cars alone, all of which we are entitled under no deal to put tariffs and quotas on. They have set their stall out to keep us in because they fear the consequences of us being out. The insistence on agreeing how to leave before future trade is discussed is also a very clever barrier to leaving. It means that we are trying to establish 'How to get there' before we have decided where 'There' is. The Irish border question is typical of this, how will we know what can and can't work at the border if we simply don't know what our trading relationship will be until later? What I am certain of is that if our parliamentarians had sat together and worked something out, a little compromise here and there, then turned to face the EU united in the interests of our nation, this would have been done and dusted. I will never forgive them for that, for putting their own interests first through the most difficult time in our post war history. Jim2 points

September 21st, 2019 Spend: £0.00 I'd never been to the Peak District, so when I asked on the forums if my planned route for today was ambitious or not, @IanK (Bagpuss) kindly volunteered to show me around. What a day it was... We started out as four with @LukeW and @Nemesis joining @IanK (Bagpuss) and my son in his Mini Cooper S in Ashbourne. Afer some driving we met up with @Paul Hurdsfield, @bioman and Kibriyah (NWKCOG) at The Devils A***. More driving was done and my son and I arrived home 12 hours later than we left, with near enough 300 miles more on the clock. The full story can be read here. Last month: £ 9402.26 This month: £ 0.00 ----------+ Total: £ 9402.261 point

Meet briefly at Sainsbury's Matlock, DE4 3SP at 10am for a quick gather together before taking a whole 2 mile drive for breakfast. From there we will go a run around the Peak District chasing slices of cake. The current forecast is good, so fingers crossed I will not have to cancel this one. Who is coming? MENU IS BELOW HAVE A SIR JOSEPH IF YOU DARE1 point

Welcome Michael. I think you met a couple of the Clan McWesty guys on our Rannoch Station run which was a cracking day out. As the Xtreme has a decent sized boot you can be the carrier of the spare fuel for the V 8 guys cheers Bob1 point

Like Jim, I know of serious family feuds due to Brexit (eg. not speaking any more, at all). It's a real shame we weren't presented with the facts - or at least an estimated version of events - up front. I guess it's to be expected with politicians though, especially those who are more interested in lining their own pockets than anything else.1 point

I must say I thought a single currency was a daft idea, but of course it wasn't a fiscal measure, it's political and aimed at ever closer union. I first visited Japan in 1975 and the Yen was roughly 700 to the pound. That meant that the price of Japanese goods was low and it helped them to build their industries. However, because (a) they were fairly successful, and (b) the Yen and Pound were free to vary vs each other the Yen sank and sank to its current level of 132 to the Pound - even with Brexit causing sterling to drop in value. This means that Japanese goods are now much more expensive and they now compete on fairer terms with the rest of the world instead of dumping goods at silly prices. A single currency does not allow this natural levelling, and the poorer nations in Europe, who would devalue to compete in the past, are stuck with a currency driven by Germany et al, and those poorer nations simply get poorer as their industries cannot compete in the export markets.1 point

Waay too long between updates, but in my defence, it's been a busy few days and any time I've had free, I basically haven't had Internet. Just crossed into Romania again this morning so back to free EU roaming! I'm not sure what I expected of Ukraine, but the experience was certainly different. We spent the weekend in Kyiv (Kiev) other than Saturday when we took the day trip to Chernobyl. Chernobyl is incredible, but for anyone thinking of visiting Ukraine, allow yourself more time than just for that one thing. Kyiv, and the whole country from what I saw, is incredible. The people mostly haven't a word of English, but they're fantastically friendly and perfectly willing to struggle through a broken conversation. The city was beautiful too. Lots of remnants of the soviet era, but there are some incredible bits of architecture around. We did a walking tour of the city too which was really educational. Here are a few random highlights. The monument and arch below were built as a symbol of friendship between Ukraine and Russia, but since the start of the war in Crimea, someone has stuck a "crack" on it to symbolise damage to that friendship. Gotta love the cars here too! Every Saturday night they close the main street too for a street party and light show. We only took a wander through it as we were pretty wrecked after the day but it seemed good fun! I'll try to do another post later with Chernobyl photos etc, but I didn't want to bundle them together, as Kyiv really is well worth a visit on its own!1 point

Likewise, good to see the gang again! Having the road to ourselves going through the Gorge allowed the full symphony of the cars to be heard in full! And then there was the food at Tuckers Fish and Chip shop - massive portions and very tasty! A big shout out to Patrick @Westfield Parts Dept for driving down from Dudley to meet us! Great to have time to discuss all things cars in general and Westfields in detail. You Sir, are a Gent and very passionate about your job and the cars - something that will only benefit all of us in due course. I've already started planning the next jaunt - Wye Valley anyone?1 point

Great to see everyone last night. Wow, I'd forgotten how spectacular Cheddar Gorge is! What a place! A Thursday evening is a good time to go too as it was nice and quiet. Excellent Fish and Chips (although one of us just had a Cappuccino!).😊 The weather stayed dry despite some black clouds. My car loved the cool air and Google Maps managed to direct me down some excellent roads on the journey there!1 point
